    @zintosion@zintosion6 жыл бұрын
    • zintosion interesting statement, since James McAvoy portrays Professor X’s younger version. In the comics, Professor X’s son, Legion, also possesses Dissociative identity disorder or multiple personality disorder, with each different personality giving him a different superpower, making him an omega level mutant (mutants whose powers are beyond the quantifiable standards used by the marvel character universe). I haven’t watched the movie (Split) yet, but it’s something to reflect on, who knows, maybe in the future this might come into effect with a crossover into x-men universe. 🙂

  • I believe that the 24th personality is what we humans would be like if our bodies could survive extremely prolonged used of natural adrenaline, which removes the natural inhibitors we have in order to make sure we don’t tear apart our muscles. Without these inhibitors our natural strength is multiplied by three, so say you can deadlift 500 pounds, congratulations you can now deadlift 1500 pounds, our speed and durability is also enhanced although not as much, now imagine what would happen to our muscles, bones, and organs if we were constantly in that state. We’d tear ourselves apart from the inside out because our bodies were not built to handle such intense amounts of physical pressure and stress for prolonged amounts of time, The Beast believes the rest of humanity to be impure because we are weak and are in his eyes impure because of that weakness. Mind you my thoughts on why he is that way is pure speculation and theory, however my speech about the inhibitors is quite true.

  • Kudos for a great breakdown of the brilliant 'Split', & its links to perhaps one of my favourite M.Night Shyamalan movies, 'Unbreakable'. (Some YT reviews totally missed the clearly evident, crucially important connection that Crumb's father was killed in the SAME train crash from 'Unbreakable' perpetrated by Mr. Glass, of which David Dunn was the sole survivor!) But I digress! The recent trailer for the 3rd film in this shared universe, 'Glass' (uniting security guard Dunn, evil super villain Mr. Glass, & Kevin Wendell Crumb/"The Beast" et al, due for release in 2019) prompted me to revisit how much I loved both 'Unbreakable' & 'Split' (hence my belated, but joyous discovery of your channel!). What a potentially fantastic treat to combine these extraordinary characters & amazing performances from Willis, & especially Jackson & an awesome McAvoy! My fingers are very much crossed, to an almost origami-level extent, that Shyamalan continues to remain BACK on top form!

  • Remember everyone: People with DID and other dissociative identity disorders are not demented, twisted, cruel, or dangerous. They are simply people who happen to share a body due to extreme, repeated abuse in childhood. This condition is actually incredibly fascinating and kind of beautiful.

    @nh-wq6sw@nh-wq6sw5 жыл бұрын
    • I don’t think mental illness is “beautiful”. Yes it is fascinating that a body can try and protect itself from trauma by compartmentalizing memories in different personalities to protect the body but I wouldn’t call it beautiful. I would call it tragic
