If not it is a great little nugget to ponder. And when you realize Mr.Barnum wasn’t doing well at the time he wrote the book, he was reluctant but was convinced by friends to write a book on his knowledge. This paved the way for his comeback later in life.

With 2 kids to support, and save at the same time, it took 10 years for me to have some money in the bank. What I wish I had known even 5 years ago was to put that money into real estate. I was nervous and still nervous because I’m the only breadwinner and I don’t want to be house-poor. I guess it’s all about calculated risk-taking. I get that, I think I do need to control my nonsense spending too. There’s so much to learn, one lifetime is not enough.

  • Just a small part of the book but its amazing that we are led to believe that society only realised how dangerous smoking was in the 90's and here is a book that calls out the danger of tobacco in 1882

  • Even though Barnum never ever said "There's one born every minute"(Sucker). I has no idea he was such a great conveyer of wisdom. It was quite a suprise as to how we'll read and articulate his thought process must have been to author this short jewel of wisdom. I found this a sincere effort at articulating his success. More substance than show from thec"World's Greatest Showman". A timeless message worth listen to.

  • P. T. Barnum created the Barnum & Bailey Circus with James Anthony Bailey. Also, Former Mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut. One time he bought a blind, severely debilitated African-American woman named Joice Heth and advertised her as “the Greatest Natural and National Curiosity in the World.” He described himself as the “proprietor of the negress” even though slavery had been abolished in New York seven years earlier.

    • You missed why he billed her as "the Greatest Natural Curiosity.' He was told she was 161 years old, and had allegedly been George Washington's nurse. She went along with this story, telling tales of George as a boy. When she died and the doctor who did the autopsy declared she was actually about 80, Barnum insisted he had been duped.
