I think they missed a great opportunity to make the cake stand "lockable" or have a toggle option that disallows sims from grabbing a serving while on the cake stand until toggled off.

Yuup. I put a cake in my mum sim's inventory for the kid's birthday party. In the time it took us to get to the pool, she'd eaten a slice. I've given up on getting my sims to bake cakes now. I found a room in the gallery that is a single cake on a small dining table. I just get to the party location and place that.
Party Essentials isn't a ripoff of Luxury Party, but it certainly is a repackage of items that didn't make it into High School Years

I feel like some of the older stuff packs should be changed to kits price, because some of the kits are better than them lol. Like cool kitchen stuff has “new gameplay” of like two appliances, but bust the dust also has “new gameplay” and is equally as bad. But one costs more.
Cool kitchen has CAS and decor as well as the gameplay. BTD doesn't, it only has the vacuums, not even decor.
Cool kitchen is a stuff pack. It comes with 23 build items and 45 cas items. Bust the dust has gameplay because it's a gameplay kit. It comes with 5 items. I disagree that they should be the same price. However I agree that some older stuff packs' price should be lowered to match the content of newer packs.

I feel like Luxury Party was made so you can dress up for a ~gala~ or something, with some small items to make the default parties/events in basegame feel nice enough to actually use those CAS items, whereas Party Essentials is more of "wanna have a cool birthday party kids? here's a discoball and some fun pretty things"

Girl I’m telling you the wedding pack has so much good stuff in it, I don’t use the wedding events since it’s broken but I love playing/vacationing and building in tartosa. I understand why no one wants to buy it but I love the build/cas items and the world🫣
In my experience it really isn’t as broken as everyone acts like it is. Don’t get me wrong, it is glitchy, but no more than anything else in Sims 4 tbh. People are still thinking about how it was at launch (which was completely broken and unusable) but it’s been fixed a bit since then. Of course your mileage may vary, but based on my experiences with it It’s worth buying imo

Having played the Sims 4 from the day it released to today, my feelings towards Luxury Party is _it's trash, but it's my trash._ Is the Glow Cube basically useless? Yes. Do I still use it? Yes.
I need to know how one uses the glow cube because all it does is stare at me menacingly from the catalogue
@@haleymarie2627 it's easiest to use if you're making like a nightclub with a lot of LED stuff. The other option is to start with the glow cube and go from there; let it guide you.
I choose to see the glow cube as a tribute to the glow cube from the Sims 2 Nightlife.
Unpopular opinion: I quite enjoy luxury party and think it’s worth it -ON SALE - for the CAS items. I use many of them in almost all of my sims formal outfits. I like the glamour of the CAS and I have no regrets having bought it. On sale of course.
I totally agree. I bought it in 2020 when there was a huge sale and you could bundle packs and such together. The build and buy items are crap, but I do love the CAS hairstyles and outfits. I use them all the time. But I definitely lean more towards creating and dressing sims in my gameplay so that might just be me
I bought this pack on sale, and I would agree that if you are a simmer that focuses more on CAS, they have hairstyles and outfits that are pretty useful.
I really like the hairs and the BB items Kayla showed (barstool, chairs, tables and even the glowing cube) I’ve used a lot in those last 9 years.

You can enable fog on the dance floors from the party essentials kit! That fact alone turned my whole opinion about the kit around, because it's so cool to use as VFX in spooky builds.

a bit off topic, but i think sometimes you should try something different from the floor plan you usually do. for example, everytime you can fit 2+ bedrooms you turn them into a kids/teen bedroom, but you could also make them music rooms, art studios, candle makers spaces, little cinemas, laundry room etc... i think sometimes making more houses with these different, but useful spaces could be really cool!!!
I honestly very rarely build homes with kids rooms. Kids and the Sims are lowkey my last priority 😂 they take up too much time, school/homework/projects are annoying. I appreciate the Sims being family-oriented but there's SO MUCH more to do in life than go to school, have a career, etc. And tbh if the careers were somehow more interesting and less rabbit holey and more relevant to the community outside of your Sim , it'd be better. But ultimately, there's not really much to do in general without a ton of imagination.
The answer is yes. It's a rip off. Whether it's like luxury party stuff or not, the pack is a rip off. Almost all the kits are rip offs. The game needs to be fixed instead of EA focusing on money grabbing by continuously releasing kits, packs, and more broken expansions, and all the EA creator network people just tip toeing around the major game play issues. Stop releasing content and fix the game. Everything is a rip off when TONS of game play features DONT WORK. Weddings, gardening, restaurant issues, and building glitches (terrain paint and stair rail glitches) just to name a few...
I know it's probably an animation trigger issue but I really hope a modder comes through and makes the cake stand work with the birthday candles
party essentials isn't a rip off of luxury party, but they should've included the stuff from the kit in a pack refresh. it's really frustrating that LP is still for sale in the state it's in

The world's for the expansion packs have become so horrible. Comparing the first world in Get Togethet to the latest in For Rent, the quality and number of buldable spaces is awful. There are several spots in multiple new worlds where I'm like "that could have been a buildable lot and that could have been a lot." It's extremely disappointing and makes me not want to buy any expansions packs whatsoever
No cause when luxury party came out, I loved the cas, I didn't care about the build buy at all, now everyone just makes fun of it but I'm still very fond of it tbh

Am i the only one that uses the luxury party stuff all the time? ToT the dining chairs and the lit blinds are just so functional for romantic dinner locations and mature, child-free houses. And the glowing cubes are fun for patio parties and night clubs! I put the cubes on pool corners/ by poolside chairs for a chic look and set the color to white
i was thinking the same thing! i'm not a builder but the chairs are very pretty and i feel like can be used for many places! i mostly got it for the cas back then and i think the cas is really good. back when there werent as many packs i used to use those evening gowns and the jewelry for my sims all the time because you really couldnt get any better extravagant formalwear from other packs, and i still think a lot of it holds up (that low-cut suit top for fem frames is one of my favorites). i dont recall the makeup being that unsalvagable either; it's definitely out there but if you have a very fashionable, high glam sim (especially with the opacity/saturation/etc sliders they added later on), i remember being able to pull off some cool looks with it, even if theyre not safe or everyday choices. both cas and build items feel kinda situational but with the right swatches i definitely think theres situations where theyre a great choice!
I actually really like party essentials... There are a few items that I really enjoy using from it. The bar, speaker and record player are all great for most builds, but I love using a bunch of the neon stuff for teens and hacker type sims.
The glow cube can look neat in a gym or yoga room - that’s the only place I’ve ever been able to use it . 😂

People forget stuff packs weren't very well liked in the beginning, at some point we started acting like kits are this hell spawn and stuff packs were super great but aside from two or three of them, I think they could all have been rebranded as kits if they had been released today, maybe we would even praise them for being "bigger that the usual kits"

So it didn’t actually happened as you are saying when we got kits and there was so many of them. In my opinion just buy older stuff packs on sale if you wanna get them, they’re not worth the full price.
@@penguinqueen01 yeah, that was my point, there were only two or three nice stuff packs, I was indeed thinking of paranormal stuff, and it was the very last one before stuff packs went into hiatus and we didn't get another one until home chef hustle was released. My whole point was that most other stuff packs -aside from paranormal, tiny living and knifty knitting (depending on who you ask)- were pretty much the same as kits today, especially the older stuff packs, but I didn't think I had to specify that

hot take: the invisible dance floor should be base game
100% - @SatchonSims tested it & it's basically useless is you don't also have a pack that comes with dancing (like Cottage Living). You literally can't use it without having a pack with the dance skill as well, so it's literally just an invisible square to anyone who doesn't have a pack with a dancefloor. So silly.
@@darkempress410 Sims can still dance in base game but music does have to be playing near by. The skill is in a pack but not the activity. The dancefloor also functions the exact same as the others so it doesn’t require an additional item from another pack to work. I’m not sure how Sach tested it but so did Simsie and it works perfectly fine.
Honestly, if this pack fits anything I think it's that backyard pack, with the butterfly theme and the fun vibrant colors. But I'm sure they went with a butterfly neon sign because of that butterfly shirt that also just came out. Butterflies have been placed in sims items just like gnomes, the freezer bunny, and the plumbob are seen in all sorts of items.
the issue that i have with invisible dancefloor isn't it being invisible, i actually love that. what i hate is that the item is unusable unless you have get together. it basically turns into invisible fog machine when you don't have get together.

Being able to set down a dance floor in your basement or living room or whatever without the floor changing has SO MUCH POSSIBILITY I never use dance floors bc of how gaudy they are so if I bought this kit I'd get it for that thing
Honestly they should stop making these stupid kits and instead just update old packs. They did it with Spa day. They could have just put some of these items in Luxury party and everybody would be like: "wow it's so cool that they're doing this" but no, instead they just love the sim community hating them.

I got Luxury Party on sale and i think the CAS is fun to use. Also the build buy might be good to use for a snooty lounge or nightclub.

My favorite item from the Luxury Party Pack is the fountain. I especially like it when my Sim has enough cooking skill so they can put caramel into it (as I'm *much* more fond of that than chocolate.) I don't care for the ones from High School Years or My Wedding Stories. I prefer the Luxury Party Pack one. (All 3 have the same things you can put into them. The MWS one has a name that makes you think you can put "gravy" into it, but that's not one of the options.)

I actually REALLY like the luxury party CAS for formal looks and use it all the time. I bought it when it first came out because we just didn’t have a lot of CAS at that time, and haven’t regretted it even if it is a little lacking compared to later packs and the boom cube is completely useless. I also use the buffet all the time and we only recently got more of those. I also use the chair a lot for weddings because I REFUSE to buy the wedding pack with its wedding gameplay STILL being that broken. I actually like the CAS, Build/Buy, and world of My Wedding Stories, but the fact that it BREAKS wedding gameplay makes it unusable for me, so the formal CAS and build/buy pieces have been wedding staples for me for the last decade. I have yet to break down and purchase a $5 kit and the Party Essentials hasn’t tempted me to change my stance. I like some of the stuff, but it doesn’t in any way feel “essential”. Also for me “luxury party” really goes more wedding/celebrity nightclub and “party essentials” goes more birthday/prom. Like the difference between formal and party wear in CAS.

I did buy it, and I love it. It's helping make little photo shoots amazing, I use the lights on finished collections (you should see my hall of crystal cuts), and the mosaic wall for backsplash.

You can stack glow cubes and make a wall out of them, or use them to make a fort for the little toddlers, for you need to surround the tent that came with the DHD pack or surround the ball pit (to disguise it) and pretend the little ones have a bouncy house.

I would have loved this kit more if it had been kids party essentials bc we literally cannot do real kids parties without u owning multiple packs. We could have gotten some cute new cakes like princess, dinosaurs etc.

Luxury Party does let you have candy apples via the fountain (and other things I think depending on the sauce), and it can be pranked too. It's not a lot of unique gameplay, but it's more than Perfect Patio. On the ear bug bite front, one time I was up further north in blackfly country and I had them stinging me all over, including inside the ears. Didn't know ears could swell up like that and then ooze, but turns out they can and it's awful. Ear bites are terrible.
I'll grab Party Essentials. My birthday is next week and - as a musician - I tend to buy anything to do with lighting, special effects, music, etc. I probably have more dance clubs and pseudo-concert venues in my save than households. I just built an amphitheatre. Waiting on a LIVE MUSIC EP. I need to make a band, EA!

I know this has probably already been said but Party Essentials could be really cute with the Bowling pack! It could be really cute to have a "party room" that you could "rent out" for kid's parties like when we were younger.
idk luxury party was released in 2015, releasing a new party pack in 2024 with different items makes sense to me, and obviously they would be better even if it's just a kit because that's the natural progression of extra content getting ever better also the glow cube is an icon. very niche yes, but it's very pretty and works very well for its purpose of being a glowing cube

Tbh the only pack that’s ever felt like it had stuff in it meant for another pack was…. My first pets stuff. Which honestly doesn’t actually bother me in the slightest. In fact it makes me pretty upset that there was so much negativity around it bc it definitely feels like the dev team hasn’t done anything like it again bc of that. And dang it I want more stuff for my pets!!! Anyway, it’s ALWAYS GOOD to have more packs that can go with other packs. It’s GOOD to have things you can mix and match with. I DO NOT get why everyone talks abt it like it’s a bad thing. Like NO, ignore the nay sayers and give me MORE matching stuff along with the new stuff thanks!
I know both packs are different, but I still think some of the items in the kit could've just been added to the luxury party pack in the form of a refresh without straying too far from the whole luxury theme. Stuff like the balloons, streamers, confetti, speakers, disco ball, foglights, and maybe even the record player and bar could've been added. Perhaps the rest of the stuff could've been released in a free update to celebrate the pack's refresh.

The thing about the dance floor though, if you only have base game and this kit, the dance floor isn't functional ! You need one of the packs with a dance floor (High school years, Get together, Ranch pack or wedding pack) for it to function... so that's a bit dodgy

I really think the sims team wanted to refresh Luxury Party but EA said no because refreshes don't sell more packs. So this is the compromise.

maybe luxury isn't that big it was the first stuff pack like kayla saying but I like the cas items in luxury party. it's not a worthless pack neither is first pets. you get some items that some players want to use.

I bought luxury party many years ago for the cas, so as not a builder, as I believe many ppl are, I would say it makes more sense to get that one over new kit. Usually I buy all the kits, but lately not playing sims at all, even gamepack didn’t bring me back to sims, so waiting on that party kit, maybe skipping completely.

When I first got the game back in 2019 I had gotten two 10 dollar Playstation cards as well. I hadn't really watched anyone talk about the packs just watched gameplay. So when I got around to buying a couple packs with my gift cards I chose Laundry Day and Luxury Party. I could tell the Luxury Party stuff was bad, but I wanted the spiky hair style for one of my sims.
You know those blonde twins that are also builders? They made a futuristic Y2K inspired room once - full of silver and neon and LEDs - and that freaking glow cube fit PERFECTLY. Maybe you should try to make your own room out of that aesthetic?

I don't like everything in the party essentials pack but the stuff I do I really love so I'm fence about buying it. The dance floor, fog machine, normal radio speaker, the back lights and table is great for normal builds. I can see myself using this in multiple builds from gyms, spas, fancy tech houses and clubs.
I have seen at another video that the dance floor isn't functional if you don’t have the Get Together pack, what makes it the DLC for the DLC. I don’t know if this was a bug because I didn’t saw any other KZheadr disable Get Together to test that, but if that’s true, then you get the invisible and non functional rectangle. Can anyone confirm that?

Luxury Party looks like an attempt to make a fancy gala on a low budget and Party Essentials feel likes financially going all out for a casual birthday party at a bowling alley lol

I don't think that the beginning of the Sims 4 stuff packs are lacking. The thing with stuff packs is they're just supposed to be STUFF. Take the Stuff packs from Sims 3; they come with Create-a-Sim and Build/Buy Mode objects. That's what stuff packs are supposed to be. They don't need new skills, lot types, etc. I feel like the reason why there's such a weird grey area with game packs, stuff packs, and expansion packs with Sims 4 is because there's no Sims 4 Store like we had a Sims 3 store. There you could buy specific items and sets using real money, which is understandably controversial but nice. So EA is pumping out these weird game packs and expanding/changing what it means to be a stuff/game/expansion pack because there's no Sims 4 store. Hopefully this makes sense.
What they should have done is fix the luxury party stuff (like with Spa Day) rather than adding a new one (or make the new one when you fix the original one) Btw, "Great for display, not so great for function" is a great summary of the Sims 4
Idk I kinda like the glow cube. I’d use it as a funky/futuristic coffee table or something. 😂
Imagine having both packs and putting the cake stand on the glow cube lol No but honestly, I think in terms of functionality for a party, glow cube table would be for the drink tray maybe? something like that? Or any sort of party clutter that's fitting. Or at least that's what it seems to be for if you google it. Granted it might have been more useful as a chair but who knows. You should really make a build now where you can mix and match both packs and you MUST use the glow cube. KInda like a challenge.
