Most of the kits are stuff that was considered for a pack and discarded, haven't you noticed? The grunge and basement kit are basically things that didn't make it into Werewolves, the Country Kitchen is the kitchen they decided not to put in Cottage Living, and so on.

This should’ve been part of a Luxury Stuff Pack Refresh. Take these items and make the snack & drink displays functional (w/ different snack & drink options), make neighbors react to kids & teens throwing loud parties, ADD FREE STANDING BALLOON CLUSTERS, make the cake stand functional, have an option to hire clowns & even Blarfy, etc!!

Yeah it'd be great if they got a male creator to do a kit bc the men's clothing in this was just nothing... And the last male kit we got was with some random designer and all the clothes were just weird and not really usable.

yeah it’s awesome to have particular designs made by a creator in a kit or packs that arent euro/usa centric but what is it with the sims blockading small features but claiming to have representation at the core of their development :’(

I noticed a cute detail on the new record player. One of the swatches on the vinyl that is lying on top the speaker matches a poster from the Werewolf pack! Its the one that has a white background, red text and 3 wolves in a suit. I can see myself using those two items together to make it look like my sim is a huge fan of that band!

Ok, wait...so not only are you unable to add candles to a cake while it's on the cake stand, but you can't blow out candles that were already added before it was put on the cake stand? That is honestly the biggest missed opportunity in a Party-themed Build/Buy pack. Other than that, the Party Essentials Kit seems like the sort of kit where if you have it, you'll find uses for it (a bar that you can put against the wall because there is no visible ledge for seating, lights and a dance floor for community lots, a table with a basic tablecloth, a pile of chips and plates for a backyard barbecue, etc) but if you don't have it, you won't be gazing wistfully at the store page for it, wishing you had it. It's useful, but not necessary for anything.
Which is honestly how all DLC should be. It's nice to have, but not essential for your game. How unusual for EA, lol
the fact that they called this "party ESSENTIALS" is killing me. if this dlc is supposedly so "essential" for parties - something that have been in the game since the beginning - why is it coming out 10 years late lmao
I mean agreed on it should be in game already, but it’s not saying it’s essential for parties, party essentials is actually a marketing phrase for party decorations, and food ware from the 80s and early 90s that stuck around in America, so it’s just the way of saying here’s stuff expected at a party like paper plates and solo cups, honestly while lazy it’s a quick way to get the point of the kit across

The flat textures are giving ball pit energy, except worse, because you can SEE THEM FROM THE SIDES THAT DON'T EXIST. Like no, I would not like a piece of paper with an neon light design drawn on the front attached to my wall with pipes. If it was an actual neon light attached in the same manner it would look great! But it's thinner than paper-thin 😭

The cake stand it's the solution for sims that eat birthday cake before you can place the candles on it!!!
It would be if sims couldn't take a piece while the cake is on the stand, but they can. If anything I think it'll make the problem worse because a sim could take a piece while the player is trying to work out why they can't add candles.

@@HannahJo32 cant you do that with the cake off of the stand tho? the only way i was thinking this could work is to add the candles, then put it on the stand. sims cant blow it out on the stand and if im not mistaken they can't autonomously take slices from a lit cake??
The trick I've found works for that is to make sure the sim making the cake has hunger in the green. Otherwise they will try to autonomously fill their hunger with the closest food item once they finish with their task
Urban Homage feels like a contender for favorite kit for me, definitely fave CAS kit. The items just seem like ones I'll use ALL the time. It's definitely going in the rotation with Incheon Arrivals and Moonlight Chic. The items are the perfect balance of retro and trendy and I can already imagine so many of my sims wearing them!

As someone who never wears cropped things irl, I really wish the Sims team (even with CC collab) made shirts that aren't cropped. It feels so awkward when most of the cute items are cropped. That's just me personally tho.
Urban Homage has brought me to tears. It just feels so good to finally have a way to properly represent myself in real life without having to have custom content. I would really like some cas kits that give feminine frame sims full length tops, there are so, so very many cropped tops for feminine frames, and it can really limit options for older sims, sims that might be conscious of their weight, or sims that live in colder environments. I don't know if it's different in the US, but we really don't see than many people irl who wear cropped tops on the regular. I think we need a really good shoes kit, and a lot more love for adult+ age sims - including a new life stage between being in your early thirties, and being in your seventies!
Yeah I prefer masculine framed cas a lot of the time but then there's the square chest glitch, so I just rarely make feminine framed sims lol.
Yes, i would love more modest clothings. This new kit texture is good, but not modest style, except for 2,3 pieces.

To your point about dream home decorator having a similar top, I think it’s cool that they are making similar items with different modesty levels! I know there are players who have different needs whether it be personal or cultural so I think it’s cool to have things that are similar but can work for different modesty levels 🥰
now if only they'd start making closed versions of otherwise open outfits. (like jackets being open, and then another version being zipped up)
Both are not modest though.. i need more modest clothing. That covers the body.. like in spring/autumn. Or just cover fully with nice non-heavy fabric

I do think the build kit is actually pretty cool. Many objects have interesting characteristics (like the led behind the tv), animations (like the light, the ball, the fog machine) and also game play for the dance floor. I do think it’s weird to buy it tho. It would have been REALLY GREAT as a free gift for the anniversary. Like a “we gift you this kit for like three months, then you would have to buy it”. You know. Anniversary-> celebratory kit. It would have Made so much sense and gave some positivity to the community
This kit should be an update for luxury party pack. It litteraly adds more than a stuff pack
it’s called “luxury party” because the items in the pack are like modern lux items, the items in the new kit are brand new and clean not to flashy but colorful. If you don’t like it don’t buy it damn.
Oh I adore the urban homage kit. Having older sisters that were teens in the early 2000s this is a style I grew up around and tried to mimick a bit in my tween years. It's not a style I wear anymore but my lord the nostalgia is HITTING More collabs with cc creators!

I'm conflicted on the party kit... A lot of the clutter isn't really useful, but all those neon fixtures, the TV, bar and record player look so nice. It's kind of a 50/50 kit and I'm not sure 😂

Right. It actually made me stop any praise for the kit. The whole time since the preview I knew when it would release the mens clothes would be nothing. And it might honestly be the worst men's kit I've seen. And simsie bringing up the exclusive men's one is a bigger slap in the face bc that one was a joke >_> Atleast that one tried to look interesting or creative. This one is just boring, nothing, I'll be mad it's even clogging my cas space. Like ebonix didn't have any fashionable male friends to ask? Lol
This is common in games. Female characters get all of the best fashion while the males get next to nothing. It's been proven time and time again that female fashion will have higher resolution than males among other things. What I'm really sick of too is how a lot of games now are giving men more fashion but it's all just like converted female clothing.. So it'll literally just be clothing females already had and just slightly edited to work on a male body.. then they call it male fashion.. that's not how that works.

So true the masculine cas is horrendous, the sims team value female over the male sims. The amount of masculine sims I have wearing the same outfit due to the lack of CAS clothing. Is so disappointing the sims really need to come out with something Masculine, to even out the playing field.

I was planning on skipping Party Essentials, but as luck would have it I'm messing around with making a save set in the late '70s/early '80s, so having another record player and a disco ball and the invisible dance floor will actually be really useful.
Guys, the dancing skill, group dances etc. are all tied to other Sims 4 DLC, they’re not tied to the dance floors! The dance floor in this Kit DOES work with Basegame because you can have Sims gather on that spot and dance, that’s the function of a dance floor in this game! For crying out loud, why are people misinterpreting this so much!? It’s not rocket science 🙄
Because kits come with a set amount of items and wasting one of them on an item that you literally cannot see and has barely any function without other dlc is kind of lame??

we really need to abolish the restrictions for masc and feminine frame clothing in the sims. everything in the urban homage kit looks so good, but because the items are so frame restricted they won't look nearly as good of the frame the weren't made for, which is really unfortunate. It's sad to me that we still have stuff like this happening with cas in this game after so many years

I was familiar with Ebonix’s CC so I had high hopes for the CAS kit, but I think it’s even better than I expected! I love that we get such a mix of funky patterns and solid colours, that variety helps me use these pieces over and over in different ways. Another great collab, and I hope we get even more like this! And I liked the build kit more than I thought I would! A lot of items fit into “normal” builds better than I expected (but it’s kinda funny that some of the party furniture looks more normal than their “normal” furniture 😂). A lot of the items I’d realistically only use a few times, but I could see myself using a few of them regularly.

Personally I love that new party kit; birthday parties, baby showers, the auditorium for graduations, nightclubs, lounges, and they are all examples that use everything but there are so many more uses for individual items like the table, the raised platter, the speaker, the record player, the wall decor, the TV... its definitely my new favourite kit

The floor light from Party Essentials lights upwards to the ceiling in a really cool way. And if you place it close to a wall it has a very cool effect as well.

I love the little details in the sims, like decorating for a b-day party, taking themed family photos, etc. so the party essentials kit is very exciting to add more uniqueness!!
I feel like the invisible dancefloor shouldn't be hidden behind a paywall. To me that's equivalent to if they put the invisible debug lights from TS3 behind a paywall.

What they need to do is give us room toggles to switch between furniture layouts (with everything going into family inventory, of course, for storage) so that you could switch from a day-to-day layout to a party layout (or any other layout you set up, of course) and back again via a Build/Buy Mode dropdown. Packs like Party Essentials are just pointless for me without such a feature - like many (probably most) players, I'm waaaaaaaaaay too lazy to manually set up for a party or whatever and then have to manually re-set up my old room...
Gasp! Genius! Make the toggle per room! Even if it were per lot, it’d add a lot to the existing Seasons decoration box.
You could take the room you have, save it to your personal gallery (doesn't have to be uploaded), decorate it for parties, and then put in your old room from the gallery when done. You could also save the party layout and put it in whenever you want. So the functionality is already there.. you just didn't think to use it that way most likely.

Just so you guys know if you are thinking about getting the kit, the dance floor isn’t actually functional unless you have get together :/ Edit: only the “dance” feature works, the same as a radio, all other features like group dancing and dance battles are locked behind get together

As many said, the Party Essentials really give High School Years prom vibes. I'd almost say they should have just added most of this stuff to that pack, but it already had so many buy items. The standing dance floor light, balloons, garlands could have been kept for prom. Some of the stuff, mainly the poster, party sign, floor confetti and balloons feel very much like they could be added to Seasons to me due to their swatches. The Simstagram backdrop could go with City Living, given the careers in it. (Though good luck in getting your Sims to face the right way.) The Disco Ball feels like it could be part of Get Together to me. The Curve TV could go with either of the two latter packs mentioned. Really, though... they could have dispersed these things into the Base Game and into older Stuff packs as a bit of a refresh to interest people into buying their older or less popular ones. The Dining Table, Food Pedestal and Dance Floor would be awesome to have in the Base game. (They could have done some useful game play with it too, they should have made it so the Sim who bakes it automatically puts the cake on it and Sims know not to touch/steal a slice!) The Bar and Turn Table sort of makes me think of Bowling Stuff for some reason. The Fog Machine would definitely be Spooky Stuff. The Cups and Straws Station and Stack of Plates and Chips would probably have gone well with Backyard Stuff. The Fiber Optic Garland and LED Party Strip make me think of the Glow Cube from Luxury Party). The little Party Floor Light, Neon Sign, Luminous Lighticles and small Wall Speaker... those could be dispersed wherever "needed".

Thanks, Kayla, for your review of these Kits. I also had the same problem installing the Urban Homage Kit, but I got it to work by clearing the cache memory. I always like new content and I'm sure I'll find ways to use the content from both Kits in my games.

I bought both today and the party kit is SO useful when decorating the auditorium for prom! I also think the clothes are super cute, especially the tops and the piercings!
The simstagram worthy drape... is going to make great backsplash behind kitchen counters to match the rest of the walls in the room above the cabinets!

I'm extremely disappointed in the neon signs, purely because they don't look right to me. The designs are okay, but it's not what I was hoping to get. The rest of the kit is decent though, but I'll probably wait until someone does a BGC cc conversion to use any of it. The CAS kit is... better than I expected. Still dunno if I'll actually buy it, but it's piquing my interest

Personally and talking as a person who hates parties, mainly in the sims, I do actually like this kit. I just did a 70s inspired disco, and this will come in handy. Im really happy we finally got a discoball. But it can be versatile too, like it can be cool in teen rooms and the plain items like the bar and the table can be useful in any home. And the invisible dancefloor can be put nicely in gardens. Im actually happy with this one, I thought I was going to hate it
The invisible dancefloor is useful, however... you need Get Together for it to function fully as an item. 🥴

You might even use it for club gatherings, and dance parties I just thought of something, with the pink and blue lights, you can have a bringing-home baby celebration, like the parents coming home from the hospital, or an adoption party, or the family reunion. A retirement, a moving out party, a swinging singles party, or the night before getting married party, any reason is a good reason to celebrate... :)

This was good timing. My Sim just tonight entered a new phase of her life and needed a style overhaul. These Urban Homage pieces are fantastic and work really well with other pieces that are already in the game. Can't say enough how much I appreciate things that match! I'm not sure about the party pack yet. I'm sure I will use some of the things, but not really in a decorating mode just yet.

I HATE kits but the record player radio, the fog machine, and the disco ball are sm of the best objects in game (not sure is worth the price tho, but it's nice) edit: also, the "led plaques-thingy" (butterfly, cow plant board(?)) is actually disgustingly bad 🤢 I think is just as bad as the glow cube (myb worse)

I like using the cake stands for kitchen sink clutter. Sponges, hand soap, etc (I found some really cute stuff for it in cc)

instead of making a kit with representation that people have to buy, why not add important cultural items (dashiki, headwrap, etc) in the base game so anyone can create a person that looks like them?? its weird to have an "urban" kit made mostly with black people in mind behind a paywall when most eurocentric items are in base game and have been for a WHILE.
