  • Billie has developed into such a mature artist in a short period of time. Their writing (Finneas included) is so good without relying on a roomful of industry "Professionals" trying to guide them into the perfect pop song. They have a long career ahead of them, together or separately.

  • I love that everything Billie and Finneas do comes straight out from their souls. The emotion, honesty, humility, and vulnerability that they exude is impossible to ignore. Some of the greatest artists of our lifetime, and possibly ever 🥹

    @rjs2035@rjs20353 ай бұрын
  • Fascinating that you thought the song ended differently initially. She did change the lyrics because she added an “and” but that’s all. The song ends on a hopeful note and that’s the whole point. They do that rarely, there’s “everybody dies”, and “everything I wanted” also. Off the top of my head.

  • I loved the Vanity Fair video. It really made me appreciate the song and artistry they put into it. It appears to be a simple, straightforward song on first listen/impression, but hearing all of the layers and details Billie and Finneas added an emotional depth few other songs have achieved. No crazy vocals needed. And the intentionality of each word and each note is what makes this song special. It 100% deserved song of the year for its lyrics and composition. I hope it wins the Oscar.

  • thank you - I like your first reaction and I like this one, too! I've truly have watched virtually everything Billie - I'm not obsessed - I'm a 70 yr. old believer and I'm so happy when vocal coaches like you and Tristan (Paredes) and others - unreservedly - affirm Billie's gifts, and Fineas's, too. Billie would always be the first to say she doesn't have Adele's voice or Ariana's or that of many other women, but I think especially today - she embraces the instrument she has and has grown with it immensely. I also heard the change in Lyrics, but the only change I heard, and it is a lovely one is the "AND" in "Something I wait for" AND "something I'm made for" - is that change you are thinking of also, or is there another I've missed? P.S. I heard Billie live in St. Paul, MN on March15, 2022, my first concert in over 40 yrs and it was truly a phenomenal experience for me.

Recently Billie and Finneas were part of the panel of songwriters with the "Songwriters Hall of Fame -A Conversation with the 2024 Oscar Noms" hosted by Paul Williams and Nile Rodgers. The entire thing is interesting but her and Finneas' part starts at 32:08 - 44:50. She speaks of her influences at 53:58 - 56:28. A lot of it is parts they have talked about before but she shares more I haven't heard.

  • I absolutely CANNOT handle how beautiful it was to change the lyrics. It really encompassed the entire way these Grammys made me feel. Between falling in love with Miley’s pure joy and watching, specifically the women, support each other and hype each other up, and Trevor Noah not bashing the artists but also hyping them up….it was purely a gift to experience. Even JayZ’s little rant that was in support of Queen B was all out of love and admiration. I also love Billie and Finneus so much I can’t even handle it. 💗💗💗

  • Great video - I had seen the Vanity Fair interview, and now I'll look for the Apple interview. For such a young woman, she understands what it is to be a woman and in or out of love (with yourself, or another). It's so intrinsically "woman" to spend so much time wondering "what was I made for?" and yet, at one point, to know exactly how her boyfriend was made "that's not what he's made for". We all do that - know others better than ourselves. Chills.

  • hannah, sucker punch is the perfect way to describe it. a gut punch of, "oh, i didn't realize that i was feeling this way until it was put in front of me." i think i try to ignore this feeling, or push it down, or something. and every once in a while, i take it out, brush it off, and carefully hold it in front of me like you would with a childhood barbie. and then other times, it's a gut punch of emotion disguised as nausea. that feeling that connects with me about this song- i truly think it's an internalized sense of objectification. i feel it so deeply because the way women in america have grown up in a society that has very clear rules for how women are supposed to act, think, express ourselves, and generally just be. we are shaped and taught that we are made for certain things, and not made for other things. it's heartbreaking and billie and finneas express this feeling so beautifully with the music, lyrics, vocals, and performance.
