Real Talk:
Despite our attempt at keeping our Greenland Travel Documentary as authentic as possible, you are still watching a highlight reel. When editing, we naturally tend to choose the most exciting clips.
Hunting:
The people of Greenland hunt seals, whales, and dolphins. Other than fish, these marine mammals are an important food source. Every part of the animal is used. Still, among some, this type of hunting will spark outrage. However, understand that very little grows in Greenland, as the summer lasts only around 2 months. Most fruits and vegetables, as well as all other types of food, need to be imported, causing high transport costs and emissions and resulting in astronomical prices. No citizen of Europe or North America has any right to judge the lifestyle of these people who rely on locally available, sustainable food sources.
Do we prefer whales swimming wild and free in the ocean? 100%. However, in our daily lives, most of us have the luxury of buying everything we could think of in a nearby supermarket. Greenlanders do not have that option.
Greenlanders know where their food comes from. Most of us in the West do not. It is easy to judge people and their lifestyles even if we know little about them. And if after all of that, you still believe Greenlanders should stop hunting seals, you are placing ideology above reason.
Full Disclosure:
This trip was supported by Visit Greenland. The tourism board paid for our flights from Iceland to Kulusuk as well as our helicopter flight from Kulusuk to Tasiilaq. Moreover, they supported us by funding some of the activities. Additionally, we didn’t have to pay for the trips with Tasiilaq Tours and Nunatak Adventures. All accommodations and other activities were self-funded.

  • I think you're the best travel videographer entirely. The views, the added information about a place and how you share a place with us is truly genius. Yours isn't just travel but a work of art. I thought Iceland had the end of the world vibes, but boy oh boy Greenland takes the crown.

  • Lucas & Anna thanks so much for the breathtaking trip to Greenland. 😊 WOW how beautiful is this island with the colorful houses, magnificent icebergs, glaciers & much more. And the baby sled dog was precious. All of your travel documentaries have been spellbinding at the spectacular sights found on planet earth. Hope it will all be preserved. Loved your poem which summed up the meaningful history of Greenland & your voice which is mesmerizing. Thanks you two. Continue to wander & we will continue to follow 👍🏻🙋🏼‍♀️🇺🇸❤️

  • 32 years old, going through a bad phase in life, and your Norwegian documentary inspired me to take a life-changing trip that changed the course of my year and quite possibly the future. It unlocked the wondrous wanderlust inside me. You guys are absolutely incredible. This video felt like a fine tuning of the soul and its alignment with nature in its rawest form. Greenland, I see you ❤

  • I am bewitched by Lukas's poetic descriptions of the dancing icebergs, endless surfices of untouched ice glaciers, simple and uncomfortable living conditions of Inuits, the howling of resilient and beautiful sled dogs, the iconic views of fjords and the final and unforgettable dance of Lady Aurora. What a soothing antidose to our hectic life and surroundings!

  • You did it again man. Awesome vid. I seen Greenland from the air once. It was new years 2004. I was on a military flight that passed over Greenland. I remember seeing the ice sheet below and the Northern Lights. It was almost like we were among them and you could see the lights sort of reflecting off the ice below. It is probably one of the most beautiful images I have ever witnessed. I would love to see Greenland up close.

  • I knew Greenland was big, but no where this big when I studied in college. I get the same overwhelming feeling about Alaska, and it looks like a postage stamp compared to Greenland. Enjoy your youth and ability to backpack and rough it. I’m a tree person so will stick with the Alaskan mountains. But thank you for sharing this Grand Adventure! So kind of you! We must know what we like to understand what might not be our ideal.

Thank you so much for sharing this powerful videos which supports my lifewish to visit this part of the world too. It's so hard to find the right words by watching the sceneries or better say "no words are needed". For photography it's mindblowing and maybe another dimension exploring this wonderful piece of nature. i wish you and your wife merry christmas and a happy, healthy new year 2024. Kindest regards Rolf

  • Excellent documentary but to see empty drums and machinery was heart breaking. Some one has to clean the mess before it becomes ecological problem. Thanks and best Regards for showing us this hidden gem...

  • Another brilliant film from Lucas T Jahn. Just over 3 weeks ago I fell of my bike when cycling home and cracked several ribs, so I have had to spend more time inside than I would normally do. Thats how I discovered your fantastic channel. But before that, I cycle everywhere because I am concerned about Global Warming. I had watched a video on You Tube The History of Earth How our Planet Formed and this covers a lot including Snow Earth and the last Ice Age. When watching this fantastic film and seeing the 1st lifeforms leave the oceans and move inland, I could not get the thought of what it would have been like to witness that. Although in a warmer much greener enviroment. You could imagine this forever, or......Go and visit Greenland Another point to make when watching that massive form of Ice. Could you imagine the destruction to large parts of the world if that had to melt in only a few years, which could be brought forward if we hit that 2 Celsius mark.and accelerate Global Warming. Thanks for posting. Maybe this video with all that Ice should be used to promote the fight against Global Warming. We have to wake up to it.

  • Eva, you're going to be ok! I've had the last 2 years like yours, due to two failed back surgeries and a bad hip. Hang in there, I am. When I get these medical issues resolved I'm off to the races - at age 70. I love your style and spirit of adventure. I'd love to hang out with you if I hadn't been married 40 years LOL. "Keep on trucking" as we used to say.
