  • The Beethoven. His formidable, intimate expression..magnificent. Subtlety, strength, bravura, and passion. Unbelievable, that such music was even conceived, but to hear it performed in the remarkable Poznan opera house, with its fine orchestra behind Marek..magical. Vengerov cracks open one of his famed and beloved Strad’s best showcases, with filming capturing great clips of the maestro as well. What a treat for the encore with the Meditation, a rapturous expression, so romantically epitomized here.

    • I can't be bothered to listen passed the opening and the high statement. He is slightly under tempo ok, so I thought I'd be hearing pure polish and expressiong, but he can't phrase the opening octaves in their preparatory sense, he plays the high melody OUT oF TUNE and he bores me already! Listen to Perlman or Heifetz, or BEST, D Oistrakh.

    • @Dano Zakerios I somewhat agree with PJ's assessment. At lease the start of the 1st movement is not in sync and out of tune just a tiny bit (not sure if everyone can hear that!). But MV got better along the way and played beautifully. Still not my preferred version. Beautiful, moving performance? Yes, but the breath and the drama are lacking comparing to Perlman or Oistrakh.

      @liliwei8701@liliwei87013 жыл бұрын
    • Has anybody notice that the tempo is pretty much lead by Marek, the director and not MV himself. I can't listen to Oistrakh version anymore (I would love it if MV's version didn't exist ykwim). Even though I've listened to Heifetz it feels more robotic, very perfectly timed which in my opinion let's you feel the music 2% worse. I feel Maxim Vengerov's sentiment and understand what he expresses more than Heifetz.

  • What grabs me the most in reviewing Nicola Benedettis technique is how silky she plays. It's as if she's pulling taffy one moment and she simply glides as if pushing away a dinner plate. She has long wrist like Amelia Earhart and then she honestly shows you that her third finger needs assistance from the second finger. I am most impressed with her integrity. I am pretty sure she will become a legend as Yehhudi Menuhin. She has my vote for top female violinist in the world.

  • Thank you so much for uploading! This concerto, along with the Sibelius one and his solo playing of Bach's partita no. 2 (a presentation with Patrice Lare) are one of the BEST recently recorded presentations of Vengerov! Never fail to cheer me up or simply make me feel better about life, letting my imagination fly with whatever I'm listening. To be honest I'll never understand why people who do not appreciate Maxim Vengerov very much or even like him or his playing come into videos where he majorly appears, only to complain about him ( his playing, his emotional range, his facial expression or whatever) or to compare him to other violinists. The world is wide enough for everyone to like what they want to. It requires -in my humble opinion at least- much more effort to watch something you don't like and then complain about it. What a boring way to spend time on the net!
