What a combination of guests in the show, such contrasts but it works. You can tell J is actually listening close and learning new things, that’s a true rarity with many people these days. • What really bothers me about people like Neil is the leap in logic they tend to make which is that because they feel they are smarter than the people around them, they should be the ones to call the shots because they aren't just as human and flawed as we are. He displays a tremendous amount of ego in that which is not only frustrating, but in the wrong person at the wrong time it's frankly dangerous. Look at our politicians who constantly make decisions that are self-serving and go against what would be best for the rest of us, they all think the same way.

  • It will never cease to amaze me that people continue to ask Tyson about aliens. He stands on straw man arguments, refuses to look at actual evidence and uses his own opinions on governmental agencies to try to prove a point he obviously knows nothing about. I give lots of credit to Violent J for holding his cool while being talked down to and asking questions because he’s genuinely curious.

    • @@stevend.bumgarner6134 I totally agree with the scientific process of providing the evidence for peer review. He's basing his opinions of alien life off news headlines. The alien bodies in Mexico aren't real, but his assertion that ETs should have no resemblance of humans is improbable is just an ignorant concept. There is no measure of intelligent life that can produce technology except humans. We are the base model to judge it from. We evolved with the features we did to survive in the world we live in. It's not too far off base to think that if intelligent life evolved somewhere else, it wouldn't have a similar process. ETs are not creating a society and crafts without arms. Tyson is an astrophysicist, he should leave theories of the evolutionary process to the professionals. Or at least to those who have done the research and can talk about aliens competently.

  • 3:42 J brings up a great point. “Wouldn’t it have to resemble some sort of primate?” “Tell that to the whales…” WHAT!? 😅 Michio Kaku once said many things that back this up. The alien does not have to be specifically a primate though. A more advanced and capable, intelligent being would most likely need 1. Forward facing eyes. 2 appendages with opposable thumbs. We know for a fact that these two main components are what allowed us to get where we are today as a species. Neil shouldn’t be so “surprised” that if an alien looks like a human, since we’re the only other intelligent beings, that we know of that could achieve spaceflight.

    @camfratus8636@camfratus86368 ай бұрын
    • Even with forward facing eyes and opposable thumbs being a characteristic that may be required, we still have no idea how an alien with both those features might actually look like. There is plenty of other animals on earth that have one of those two traits, but the great apes are the only ones that have both. As you pointed out, the alien does not have to be a primate, it doesn't necessarily have to look anything like one either, even if it did happen to have forward eyes and opposable thumbs. We're limited to our own understanding because all we have to work off is intelligence on earth because we have no direct evidence of life anywhere else. Most Owls have forward facing eyes, a praying mantis have forward facing eyes, if they had evolved with opposable thumbs as well on another planet, it is possible they could resemble an insect or bird and create technological advances if their brains are large enough and they have neural plasticity, memory capacity, emotional intelligence and social organization. It's difficult to fathom entirely, but I do agree that it is a bit disingenuous to dismiss an alien species that look similar to humans because that is the best evidence we have to go off from because we are a living example of something that has achieved technological advances through our ability to adapt and use tools to our benefits.

  • Neil, love you man!! I’ve watched you for years! If you’re serious about listening to some violent J I would suggest “wizard of the hood” the entire album! It’s the best hip hop, rock and roll, story ever told ! It covers so many issues that we face in today’s society, you said you were interested in this type of stuff, well this would be one that I suggest !! Much luv to ICP & NDT!!!
