RUSTY Toolbox - Restoration
In this video I decide to give an old tool box a little character! I start by dissembling the box, then I move to my new sand blasting cabinet. Lots of firsts for me in this video, I learned how to sand blast, powder coat and even some metal working. I hope you guys enjoy, if you do leave a like and a comment. Subscribe if you would like to see more awesome content ;).

A wonderful tribute to my late great grandfather, William the first, as he used this when he did his job as an early electrician. I just wish my dad (William III) were still here to do these projects with you. I'm in love with the turn out and appreciative of my help in choosing how the restoration turned out! XO
Thanks for the opportunity to keep this box in the family for years to come Mrs. Restoration! 😊💙
Wait what
You went above and beyond...love the way you remained calm
How can you not love a restored toolbox with a custom handle made from a wrench! Brilliant!
Thanks Chris!
Not crazy about the handle. Almost looks bigger than the box. Lol. All in all, satisfying video. Thanks.
When you're putting the pin in the hinge, a nice tip is to leave it in the drill like when you sanded it. Spin it and push it into the hinge. Painless and takes 20 seconds
WOW ! 👊
👍😉
Watching sand blasting provides me immense satisfaction…..
man........you´re a MASTER.
this is not a restoration, but just a second life of an old object!
Some would say a modification I suppose! 🙂
Sensational job of the old toolbox! Hope it will serve for many more years.
Am I supposed to be Impressed with this?
wow amazing
Killer job.
Thanks
UuuaaauuuU!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Parabéns pelo belo Trabalho e Criatividade no cabo!!! Adorei!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍😍
Looks so much better than new. Like the new handle.
Thank you! 👍
I enjoyed that
I’ve 4 rusty dented boxes similar to yours. Loved the video, great ideas, great technique. Got to find someone with a blast cabinet and away I go. Let’s see more restorations. Great video. Thanks
Mind blowing
Awesome! I can't tell you how many "befores" I see in antiques shops!
This has been very enjoyable to watch. The hours of work that went into this perfect restoration.🤟
Thank you sir!
I love that handle.
Thanks Donald!
Makes we want to clean up my metal toolbox I made in 7th grade metal shop. :-]
Do it!
The handle idea was pretty cool. Creative.
Thanks Mitch!
Great job I used to powder coat for Black and Decker many moons ago they had a line where we could have up to eight colours being painted. I used to hand paint the underside of the workmates they built. I like to watch it being done. I was also an agricultural fitter before that so this project reminds me of the two jobs I worked at right from being a fifteen year old apprentice. Until I had an accident at work. Keep up the good work. 👍👍👍👍👍 From the UK 🇬🇧
That’s awesome Ken! Thank you for the kind words, I’m sure you could teach me a thing or 2 😂, but I’m enjoying every minute of this journey and I can only get better!
Excellent job on a very good presentation. I really like the innovative idea of using a twisted up wrench for a handle. Outstanding!
Thank you 😄
Very cool 👍
Thanks!! 👊
Hello again! Congratulations on the new equipment. This turned out decent in the end. The powder coating looks like it turned out well. While it was sad to see the original hardware go, it was incredibly pitted, and would have possibly failed fairly soon. I also suspect that those d-rings may not have been original to the box. For constructive feedback, work on paying attention to the smaller details to take your projects to the next level. For example, when using pop rivets, they should all be installed from the same side, preferably the exterior, for aesthetic reasons. Backing washers can be used to reinforce the interior side, if needed. Any excess shank can be filed or ground down for extra clearance, if necessary. You definitely have talent, and good instincts. I will enjoy watching you progress, and hope my feedback is useful to you. Thank you for sharing your craft with us.
Hey James, thanks I didn’t think to use a washer at the time! The holes were too big and a washer would have allowed me to put the rivets in the same way. I’ll have to go fix that! Thanks again for the advise!
How about paint color Purple x pink for aesthetic
Beautiful restoration! I was worried about the wrench handle at first, but it really came out wonderful. You've got a like and a subscription from me out of this restore!
Thank you!

LOVE the handle. You have the exact same set up as I do, sand blaster box, powder coater equipment. I was amazed that you spray the powder in a box with a filter exactly as I do for my channel. lol, Great job!
Super idea for the handle
Thanks bro! 🙂👍

Nice and calm.No stressful music! Nice filming!Looking forward to see more of your clips!
Thanks! 🙂
in 1980 I took a course in sheet metal work. I made a toolbox which I still have and use to this day.
Check out this Tool Set Video too! kzhead.info/sun/iJGCgdmjmGZupas/bejne.html
Congratulations being monitised..great job 👏 👍
Great video. Great ASMR. Beautiful tool box result!
Thanks GT! 🙂👍
Very cool 👍🏁
Thanks! 🙂
Great job, very nice work on this toolbox. I really liked your techniques, but really prefer regular painting rather than powder, in this case I'd use filler, sanded, than primer, wet sanded and final coating. This would give you a very, very nice surface. Powder coat is very nice when you don't have souch pitch on your surface, so the final quality is assured only with one coating.
Yes I agree, I really wanted to try out powder coating! Live and learn 😜, thanks again!
@@DrRestoration 😂 in our case live and watch.. I love this kind of content, so will keep watching your great works.. 👊
Besides, not everyone has powder coating equipment, and since I don’t do this type of thing on any sort of a regular basis I’d be hard pressed to justify buying it.
im pretty sure that this better than its original look...good video restoration.
Thank you DiY!
Love the handle!
Tool handle for the restored toolbox it's nice and amazing
I love the new handle!👍🏼
Love it really good love the spanner idea fantastic job !!!
Handle was a nice touch, thanks for sharing. Be safe and be lucky.
Thanks you too!
Love the handle, thank you.
Thank you!
Epic =D
One of the best tool box restoration videos I’ve seen. 👍🏼
I wish I had time to try this. I have in the past. Preparing for the day when I retire. My idea would be to refurbish something I want to build or even better. Use the original item as a template and build my idea of it. Then sell the refurbished original to someone who would appreciate it.
Very nice! This inspires me to resurrect all the rusty toolboxes I inherited.
Buen trabaJo 👌👍🇪🇸🌿
This channel is an absolute gem! Keep making great content!
Thanks Jason!
Thank you ❤️👍🏼🌵🇺🇸
AWESOME WORK!!
Thanks!

I appreciate it Steven! 🙂
Great job like that you painted the inside not often showed
I wanted to contrast the inside with black, I love how it came out. 🙂
great idea for a handle. Nicely done!
Thank you! Cheers!
amazing just amazing
Thank you!
Beautiful job!
Thanks Heather 💙
Great job man you turn an old rusted toolbox that most people would throw away and brought it back to life awesome job
Love the restoration job you did on this great old toolbox. I am looking for one just like it to put my leather-working tools into. I've seen a few online but they were too dented to restore. I'm going to have to get a sandblasting booth to remove the rust on the tools I restore as a hobby,. Right now I use Evapo-Rust which works great but I need a larger tank or get an SB booth. Though Evapo-Rust is biodegradable and not harmful to humans, I would rather a sandblaster.
Wow! Beautiful work.
Thanks Sky! 🙂
I found a tool box very similar to this one I plan to restore it like this one. I just need to find someone to sand blast it and then powder coat it, I think I'm gonna go old school and sand it , then paint it. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it. i
Hi Donald glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
¡Estupendo trabajo!
That is awso e love the handle well done

Thanks!
My Pawpaw have me a tool box just like that! Still got it! Man does this restoration being back memories. TY for the video!
💙
Great job buddy, and beautiful result
I realize this is an older video. However, I just hope you don't need either of those wrenches for doing another project. Very nice refurbishing by the way... Thumbs Up!
Great job! Like that handle, too. I have an oldtoolbox like it. Wish I had all the fancy shmancy tools to do the same.
Well done! 😃👌🏼
Thanks David! 🙂👍
That handle turned out fantastic!
Thanks Mitch!
Nice job,and very smart idea for the handle, well done.
I appreciate it!
That handle came up mint
I was worried I couldn’t do it after the first failure!! Thank you! 👊
Got a love how it’s not even done and he’s dragging it around on the workbench scratch the crap out of the bottom.
Well it is a toolbox and thats gonna happen if you use it.
Fair job. With practice, your work will improve. Prep for painting is crucial. The finish coat is determined by the primer coats, with rub downs in between. Consider using an epoxy filler with metal content to help with the powder coating or use a rattle can with build up.
Thank you I am always learning 🙂 love the suggestions !
Przepięknie jest to odrestałrowane pozdrawiam twórcę tego filmiku serdecznie 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's cute custom. I like the idea of a thick leather handle.
Thanks!
I loved the smiley and other inserts of humour. A well made video.
Love the handle! What a great touch!
Thanks!
Looks like a very handy little mechanics box, I've never seen one with the 2 seperate removable socket trays. Usually those are just built into the main tray. Nice old Craftsman Block body bench grinder ( too bad you destroyed that first wrench though), mine in much worse for wear but it was made in 1958 and still runs today. I probably need to replace the brushes in the motor and bearings though.
Oh God! Those three words: 1. really? 2. C'mon! 3. finally. Sooo Funny!!
Glad you enjoyed it Jen! 😬
Amazing👍👍
Woow I see a lot of new tools and creative editing great job 👏👏👏
Yes I love new toys.... uh I mean tools! 😬
Nice job, but surely isn't creative at all. Same editing style as thirty other restoration channels.
I also like your humour😃
Beautiful job! 🧰🧰 🧰
Thank you!
