Can Byleth solo Three Houses without using weapons?

Challenge rules:
-No DLC
-No Online Features
-No New Game+
-Byleth Only (force deployed units must avoid combat)
-No Weapons (once Unarmed Combat is unlocked)
The run takes place on Hard mode -- would probably need to abuse DLC items like the Chalice of Beginnings to even attempt this run on Maddening. Aiming for Church route because I want to solo deploy Byleth post-timeskip without lords getting in the way.

  • If you ever do another challenge like this again, I'd recommend training the lords in flying so you can more easily keep them out of danger

    • I'm glad to hear people are still watching this! I completed a 'no-damage taken' playthrough of FE8 recently I need to finish editing, it's just really long. It's gonna be a bit more technical compared to the silly fun I had punching stuff in three houses, but I'm hoping someone enjoys it.

  • This has genuinely been my favourite challenge run I've seen of 3H and the humour throughout is just class. 😂 I'm not sure if part 2 is still planned or if you've moved on from 3H, but I'd love to see how the Archbishop of Knuckles and Kneestrikes ends his journey.

  • If you get sufficient faculty training, you might be able to get Trickster class for canto on chapter 14

    • 1. Description says no DLC, so Trickster isn't an option 2. Trickster doesn't have canto 3. What you're likely thinking of is the Fetters of Dromi, which is Yuri's matching Relic, which is DLC and thus is also not an option

  • I never understood why the ability to use Bare Fists is used as a reward for mastering a class. Like, what's the point? For an option when your fists durablity breaks? That takes forever and they can be easily repaired or replaced. For an attack option with 0 weight in order to outspeed enemies? Training Gauntlets and Iron Gauntlets hardly weigh anything as is. It's not like Bare Fists is stronger in any way. Like who would willingly equip the Bare Fist skill?

  • The DLC would give you Brawl Avoid +20 Kinda hard to get that with Alert Stance+ with NG+ (since you can’t brawl while flying iirc) but you could probably break the game with a Byleth brawl dodge tank (brawl avoid, brawl prowess, alert stance+, hit +20, and QR) with the chalice and tons of charm in War Master. Probably. Or use Ferdinand with his personal or a speed demon like Petra

  • You can actually get unarmed combat on a female Byleth, but only in NG+ after a run in which you mastered Brawler. If that's your idea of a good time.

    • Fully intended to make it, but I got hard stuck post-timeskip on a defend chapter with multiple zones to defend. Without the ability for Byleth to retaliate at range, it left too many active liabilities on the field that I had to manually kill one-by-one. I still thought it would be very much possible if the green swordsmaster got good enough RNG to solo the right side, but I discovered the AI can "Lose Aggro" on that map, and charge the defend points irregardless of whether combatants are in attack range or not. Byleth was never in danger, but I couldn't be two places at once and physically prevent all of the enemies from entering the capture zones, and they just started ignoring the allies swordsmaster...

But it would mean that you’d have to take another unit into the final map but the rest of the maps could maybe work? (Haven’t played this game in a few months so I don’t remember what the part 2 maps are like in each route)

    • @@myralyra2404 I mostly chose silver snow since I wouldn't have to deploy lords in the 2nd half and I could call it a more pure "Byleth Solo". However, I think there's a variation of the 'defend garreg mach' post-timeskip chapter on every route. I may have gotten my progress walled off no matter which route I chose...

    • Yeah, even on Hard, ranged counters and Canto are pretty much essential for a solo run in part 2. And you can forget about a barehanded solo on Maddening, particularly with all the Poison Strike bow units and absurdly tanky fliers. Without a decent supply of good bows and movement options, the monastery defense chapter is essentially impossible.
