This week’s guest on Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu is author, speaker and entrepreneur Hal Elrod. After literally dying in a car crash, Hal woke up in a hospital bed and was told by his doctors that he would never walk again. Thanks to intense visualization and affirmations and perhaps some grace, Hal took his first step 3 weeks later. In this episode he talks about the miracle morning, the key personality traits of successful people and how to overcome any trials and tribulations you face in life.
Check out Hal’s book, Miracle Morning here: amzn.to/2EyazVg

  • This is my life mantra. I am a child abuse and rape survivor, married and divorced by 20, survived a 9 yr nightmare relationship then met the love of my life who suddenly died 10 years later, leaving me with 5 kids that I am raising by myself. Ppl always ask me how I can be such a happy person and I tell them that it is by choice. I cannot change the past but i can change how i react to it and how i view the future. I always try to share this mindset with others.

    • @Iamback03 it wasn't courage. It is just a determination that I will not be broken. It's been 13 years since my husband died. Our youngest is about to graduate high school and is headed to Penn State in the fall. My mother blamed her misery on my existence, and she would tell me that. I wanted to make sure that my kids only felt love and light even when I was their only source. The road hasn't been easy, and I struggle sometimes, but happiness is still a daily choice. Thank you for your kind reply.

  • My takeaway from this talk: 1. The Five Minute Rule: Whatever is happening to you, take five minutes to mourn and then get back to doing whatever you are supposed to be doing. 2. No matter what is going outside you, you can always control what is happening inside you. 3. Do not fear what is inevitable, eg, death. 4. Emotion in itself is not a problem. The problem is what you do with that emotion. Don’t make a big deal out of your negative emotion. Understand that it is temporary. Don’t give it a lot of significance. 5. Be grateful no matter what you are going through. It makes the negative experience more bearable. 6. Unwavering faith + extraordinary efforts = miracles. 7. Power of acceptance. 8. Your level of success will seldom increase your level of personal development. 9. Miracle morning routine- meditation, affirmations, visualisation, exercise, reading and journaling.

It is like a reformed thief, going o thieves anonymous and saying over and over, I am a thief. Our manual for living life successfully, The Holy Bible says: "Beat your plowshares into swords And your pruning hooks into spears; Joel 3:10 ." • His book "Miracle Morning" did in many ways change my life. I used to hate mornings, but stumbled across his book, and now I love getting up extra early just to get an empowering start. Even in the weekends I get up extra early to do this ritual. Took the liberty to add in a daily cold shower, and for some f*** up reason that cold shower is one of my favorite things of the day. A huge thanks to Hal. Also gave affirmations a go, but I`ve rewritten multiple times and never really "got the hang of it". Currently trying out a new twist of affirmations, where they`re replaced by a fictional introduction from Tom for when I`m a guest on the show some time in the future. Gotta say I love how it makes me feel to read it and visualize it. Can`t wait to see how close I am to the actual introduction when the time comes and I`m invited on the show ;-)

    • @@SaeleeSaan Not gonna lie; the first week or two was horrible! But convinced of the health benefits, I stuck with it. What really helped for me was being self aware during the shower. The reason why it feels so discomfortable, and painful even, is because your brain and body is panicking and telling you it`s dangerous to be exposed to this kind of cold. Your brain doesnt know you`re just taking a cold shower. So what I did, and still do at times, is I "talk to myself" inside my head during the shower. I`m telling the part of me that`s panicking that there is no danger, it`s just a cold shower. To me it`s similar to meditating, when you`re observing your own thoughts and physical feelings. I combine that with focusing on breathing slow and controlled during the whole thing. Starting out I spent a few minutes standing outside the shower trying to prepare myself for the discomfort, but now I just get right in. It`s the first thing I do in the morning, and it really is in some crazy way my favorite thing of the day. If you stick with it, and I really hope you do, I`m convinced you`ll love it. As for how cold; I just turn the temperature all the way down, and then step into the cold water. You could probably start out by turning it down gradually, but I recommend approaching head on and going for the win. If you havent watched the episode with Wim Hof, I highly recommend it. He brings a lot more depth to why the cold works and how it works. Best of luck on conquering the cold, I`m rooting for you! I challenge you to do it for ten days, no exceptions no excuses. And let me know how it went!

  • I was in the same sales company with Hal back in 05. His technique of the 5 min rule and philosophy of “can’t change it,” therefor there’s no point dwelling on it, positively transformed many things in my life. To Instead focus on the future and what can be changed. I’d highly recommend his books to read and implement the miracle morning, 5 min rule and other teachings in your life. If you use it and follow it, you’ll notice a positive transformation within weeks of doing it in your life.

    • Part of Morning Miracle is to start your day calm and focused, not with your brain on overdrive. You meditate to be calm. then you focus on exercice while focus on the audiobook while also trying to process everything. good if it works for you, but if you don´ even have 1 hour for yourself, to do it the right way, you need to get your priorities straight. if you combine steps to "save time", you literally start your day shortcutting your physical and mental health.

  • His beliefs, his life's mantra is like what Michael Singer, the author of The Untethered Soul and The Surrender Experiment teaches and so most of the monks or spiritual teachers as well. The art of acceptance and letting go, how thoughts affect our reality, meditation, visualization and learning how not to let our emotion control us. This man truly learned the secret of how to live a fulfilling life. He's like one of the most outstanding students that learned the most powerful lessons of life. It's like the most relevant and powerful teachings I heard and read from motivational speakers and spiritual teachers are here all in one. This man had to go through the most tragic and painful experiences to learn the lessons. We are very lucky to hear and learn this for free.

I believe all of this came at the exact time I needed it in life. After going through a lot of adversity (most of my own doing) I am finally at a place in life where I have been working on “personal development” now so more than ever. Every episode gives me the opportunity to learn how to improve some aspect of my life whether it’s changes in the way I eat, think or believe in myself. This episode has hit home the most out of all of them so far and really was exactly what I needed today. I took copious notes and related on just about everything mention by both of you. Thank you so much for all your channel is doing. Your guests and you are teaching me all the right things at all the right times and I truly believe my life is so much better for it!!!! • To answer Tom's question at 9 minutes the way you can hold the acceptance of what is and your desire for what is possible in your mind at the same time is to make peace with the worst case scenario and then vigorously imagine and dream of your desire but to enjoy the dreaming process UNconditionally. Instead of thinking about the dream of being able to walk again and feeling bad that you're not walking yet... the condition doesn't exist... you would simply imagine how glorious it would feel to be able to walk. And so the end result is that you are able to enjoy the emotion of your dream without needing the condition to exist. Most people live their lives only experiencing conditional emotions but the truth is we have the power to experience any emotion we want without the condition that we believe we need in order to have it. The reason we want ANYTHING in life is because of the emotional result of that condition, however the truth is that we can enjoy the experience of the UNcondition. This takes the resistance out of it because we are no longer resisting the fact that our dream is not yet a reality we are simply enjoying the dream. This is the truth that gives us humans our power back. Unfortunately most people don't want to hear this because they are attached to blaming someone or something for how they feel. And even once they do know they can choose their emotions they often choose to feel miserable. Why? Because deep down part of them wants to suffer. But that is a whole other rabbit hole to go down another time.

  • Awesome episode Guys! 5 things I'll take from it: 1. 5 minutes rule. Then a deep breath followed by the realisation that 'I can't change it' 2. People don't get into an emotional loop because of things (traffic, work overload, etc) we get into that loop by resisting our emotion (Or at least that's how I understood it). 3. People are not great at spacial awareness. I bad state you are in won't last for ever, either will a great one. Don't judge them. I related to: this too schal pass 4. Your level of success will seldom exceed your level of self development, because success is something you attract by the level of a person you become 5. Miracle Equation: Unwavering Faith + Extraordinary Effort

Still suffering from unhappiness and bad health. Read so many books listened to so many podcasts, tried meditation, but still do not have my mind and emotions under control. I have had insomnia for over 20 years and can't fall asleep without medication. If I don't take medication I am wake till 3-5am. I still wake up by 8 latest. So decades of loss of sleep is most probably cause of my chronic fatigue and many other health problems. You have given me so much hope. Thank you so much. And Tom thank you so much for your amazing interviews. I learn so much from you.

  • Tom - this is THE MOST IMPACTFUL Interview that I have ever had to pleasure of viewing. I was already a big fan of The Miracle Morning and Hal Elrod himself, (I had actually written him off as dead when I saw how he was struggling with a rare form of Cancer, but he amazed me again by surviving the horrific disease), but hearing his Hero's Journey (and the answers to the questions I had in my head that you asked), blew me away. Hal quoting Jim Rohn and stating that his philosophy is the 'fundamental key to success', just cemented for me the fact that because of the adversity he has faced, and his own perspective and philosophies of life, make him a man wise beyond his years and is sure to Impact the world in a big way. Thank you for sharing this Interview and asking the important questions...and being vulnerable and authentic in the process.
