Benjamin Mendy leaves court after being found not guilty of rape and attempted rape
Former Manchester City defender Benjamin Mendy has been found not guilty of raping a young woman and the attempted rape of another.
The 28-year-old broke down in tears on Friday, as the not-guilty verdicts were given by the jury foreman following a three-week trial at Chester Crown Court.
He had stood for the verdicts but sank to his seat, his head on his knees, wiping away tears with a white tissue.
Mendy, whose contract with the English Premier League champions ended on 1st July, was cleared of attempting to rape a woman, aged 29 at the time, at his mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire in October 2018.

One of the worst things about this story that no one sees initially is the trust he has lost. How can he trust women ever again? How can he find a wife? He already knew and said that they liked him because of his fame and money and not his personality or looks... What now? He is publicly viewed as a rapist, his career is destroyed and he cannot trust women. Hope all those accusers fall of a bridge.

It is always rich athletes and celebrities that are targeted deliberately by loose women looking for money. Mike Tyson was jailed for rape even though the woman went to his hotel room at 2 AM. Kobe Bryant was in a similar situation where a girl he took to his hotel room accused him of rape. After going to the police, the woman had a medical examination within 15 hours of the alleged incident and was found to have the DNA of another man on her body as well as Bryant's.
