Roger Federer has had a decent year in 2018. He started off well winning a grand slam and becoming the oldest No. 1 in the world and then his performance dropped in the last 6 months of the year. Throughout the year, many tennis fans have been watching him along the way and the majority of the time, the screen is in aerial view. However, occasionally court level view is shown. Here is the ultimate compilation of Roger Federer's best court level points in 2018.
Federer’s movement is exceptional, his footwork is perfect to the smallest detail, unbelievable.

I will say this again..Court level angle is the best way to televise tennis. All so called broadcasters should pay attention..
Cause you see how fast the ball is coming and how they anticipate in relation to speed. You can see what makes them top dogs is they know what to do and when to do it
ive been saying this for yearssss
Can you say it again?
@@jimbo6612 Sure tennis should primarily be filmed court level
@SeppuKun not that many casual viewers left. That's cause matches got too long and boring rallys. Back in the day tennis was played more attacking and interesting. It was intriguing to see say a serve and volley guy like McEnroe go against a more of a baseliner like Borg ( who actually adapted attacking) or a Conners who played from the baseline and attack the net on every chance. Today it's usually 15-25 strokes till somebody gets jockeyed outta of position.
I could watch Federer play all day!!! So graceful and effortless! Amazing!!
This camera angle is far better than the overhead. You realize here that no two balls are ever the same and the trajectories are wildly different every single time. It's why no two shots are also the same despite seemingly similar strokes. You can see how spin and wind cause the ball to curve and change direction on the bounce, or just how close to the net some of those shots can get. You can also see how fast the court is playing. I sometimes have no clue how they manage to place the ball on the lines. It looks too far away. They must really be going for broke. Also, what I see is that the tall players have a lot of power and bounce on their serves. It is really not easy to return them. Federer's wrist injury - you can see the effect here. In the later part of the season, there's noticeably less meat on the serve. The bounce and spin is not as high. Whereas he was hitting it so well in the beginning.
Couldn’t agree with you more about the effect of the wrist injury on his game on the later part of the season. Roger as usual would never mention it but I do think his game picked up once his wrist got better. His match against Novak and Zverev at the atp finals were dangerously close. He could’ve won. Again i suspect the injury is also why his 1st serve took a dive with all those double faults and he has had to compromise and rely heavily on his 2nd serve.
I always miss the overhead if it is a sliced lop ball, it's much slower than a regular one.
Disagree. Tv view is perfect
@@vika0194 I agree with u. As much as I like seeing the trajectory of the ball in this view, it would not be suitable to be broadcasting this view since it mainly highlights what's going on on one players end
there should be two camera angles for matches. court level for people who play tennis and appreciate these players. and the normal angle for the average person who gets to look at the advertising. the court level camera shows how unbelievable these players are.
Very right
Could not agree more, been saying it for ever.
No high angle...advertisers will be fine. Golf survives
Have always wanted to watch matches at court level, you get to appreciate the spin and speed more. Esp Nadal, or Del Po..
too true
I’m a 4.0 trending 4.5 and played a 5.0 and he took me 6-1, 6-0, 6-0 in under an hour. Gives me an appreciation of the level difference the greats play at. It might look easy, but they “see” everything.
There's a HUGE difference between a 4.5 and a 5.0
The most skilled player in the history of the game. Just stunning to watch. Such effortless movements.
Sir Roger federer golden legend in universal
4:18 that serve felt poweful
I think the video is accelerated at this moment. If you watch from 4:16 to 4:20, I think you'll find that the movement are unnatural. For example, he looks like he's about to throw the ball very high by swinging his arm very fast, but the ball doesn't go high at all. And thing is you can make movements look faster by speeding up a video, but you can't make the ball go higher than it did in the original video, so it's good to look at this to spot if a video is fake or not. And in my opinion this one is fake (accelerated I mean).
NamNam i agree
@@namnam2701 i disagree and im a professional.
@@namnam2701 Nah, check out the crowd. There's a guy who is fanning himself, and the rate of his movement doesn't change throughout the serve. Seems legit to me
@@davidvivsik6576 : Good point, that's finally an argument I agree with, I admit you all were right.
It's like he's walking on clouds.... impressive foot work.
Fantastic tennis
I love this perspective. Thank you so much!
2:02 is the best!
Clean shot. Amazing.
agreed. clean, pure ball strike, you can see the contact point on the racket. unbelievable
yeah
Lol, when I tapped the time stamp it glitches and they were playing tennis on top of the crowd
The little bit of side spin on the shot is incredible. He bent a down the line backhand.
2:02 is the reason we love court level. Such a pretty point with a variety of spins.
0:31 when you play against the final boss on nightmare mode
Seeing those two backhand at each other is a beauty...
Thank you for uploading this great stuff ! Thank you !
Such awesome compilation of court level views!
Damn he plays sooo fast. Combined with the Basel's surface... crazy.
The best player ever ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Federer epitomizes the word professional. A complete master of his profession. Total domination. Has seen every situation countless times before and knows how to master it. Incredible to watch.
Roger Federer is my favorite
Federer is tennis ....Tennis is Federer...very artistic....unique style ❤️❤️❤️
Most talented player ever. Even if he ends up 3rd in the GOAT race, he’s probably the most special out of the three.
100% agree. Federer’s play was elegant and compelling. He didn’t rely on power and big serves. He out finessed opponents and it was beautiful to watch.
@@MrSoccerball100 moreover he never did a lot of hard running like Djoker, Nadal & Murray. This is one of the most important reasons for his longevity. He never retired in a single match in his lifetime due to the same reason.
Federer was still the goat federer had the hardest era, he had to face prime nadal and prime dkovic when fed was 30+ while nadal was great but only in clay, federer dominated him 3 out o4 grand slam ao us open including the biggest prestigious tournament of them all the wimbledon While djokovic had weak era where his toughest opponents was against injury prone nadal and old out of prime grandpa federer who was 36+ thats why he had an easy grand slam achievement when the goat player federer got older and great nadal became injury prone federer even dominated djokovic in their prime, before fed hits the age of 30 their h2h was 13-6 in favor of federer, djokovic used to be the punching bag of federer, federer just got older and thats the only time djokovic really started winning, even a grandpa federer in wimbledon 2019 finals almost beat djokovic, almost 40 years old grandpa federer was 1 championship point away on winning the wimbledon 2019 finals, thats all i need to know how goat fed was
@@truthtruth9056 Lol what Federer's era was the weakest the players he faces mostly weren't in top 5 and the players had a very weak grand slam win percentage and he would play great players out of their prime. While Djokovic era he faces top 10 players and top 5 all the time the balls are much heavier their grandslam win percentage is much higher and they are in the prime. For example 2011 he faced prime Nadal and Federer. 2021 Medvedev Zverev many more. 2022 Rublev Tsitsipas etc. 2015 Murray Federer Wawrinka Cilic Simon.
@@mrpog5620 weak era roddick destroyed your 2008 defending ao champion djokovic in 2009 ao champion lmao! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 weak era roddick destroyed both nadal and djokovic in 2008 dubai atp tournament to win the title lmao! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 weak era roddick destroyed your djokovic in their h2h lmao! 4:27 that little jump! XD
Roddick once said, when the opponent across the court is Roger Federer you have to be prepared mentally and physically..
Watching RF is like watching a ballet dancer. He’s just so graceful...! 😍
kyrgios said it best: "federer can neutralize big servers with his returns"
Thanks for the effort to create this video
Really nice compilation. It's always nice to see points from a lower angle. They should do that more often.
its not even how fast they hit the ball but how fast they move to the ball.
What an honor it must be to play against the GOAT
Amazing video, thank you!
Great video. Thanks for making this. Keep up the great work!
10:42 BEST UNIQLO outfit of 2018

At this viewpoint you really see how much spin and height he puts on the ball, all while having extreme power and penetration into the court. He really is playing on a different level.
Roger就是帥啦~~
RODG !!♥♥♥ !!! i miss you !!!! come back as in 2017 🙏🙏 !! reviens vite !! ✌ MEGA LIKE
That return at 8:17 is just insane.
It is considering how fast the serve is
His minute ball control and course selection is insane. He must be god of tennis no doubt
I don't know who this federer guy is but i feel like he'll be a champion some day
yeah this joke is just bad
He’s top 10 at best
The joke have me cancer.
@@JohnDoe-ig4zh there is something called as sarcasm which you clear don't understand.
This comment makes me so thankful to receive the eye to recognize in various ways the most graceful artist (like a panther among a pack which all should be much slower and simpler big cats)!! It’s actually a discovered phenomenon, that when people don’t see greatness with the best common presentation (sky view, ESPN/NBC/BBC prime time coverage with top advertisement), shockingly many without particularly developed appreciation for that discipline will be blind to the greatness and just perceive something just better than avg... Proof-world class top musicians, athletes doing undercover street performances, may catch attention but almost never get the most powerfully magnetic attention of hundreds of fans just completely crowing them for just a glimpse of the famous greatness until they reveal the truth as most widely recognizable.
I miss Federer a lot, love his game
simply amazing
hes truly a god of tennis
What a piece of art 😍
Love Roger🎾♥️
Such an extraordinary player
Thank you so much thank you i love it keep going please 😫🙏🙏💓
There’s a practice between gasquet and Federer at this level. OMG that was just poetry, backhand to backhand

I actually would like to see some of the points he lost as well. His form is legit amazing and his technique is near perfect, so I'd like to know what mistakes I can avoid when playing matches as well!
6:04 best. slice. ever.....
Haha
Just beautiful to watch. The COMMAND of the court is sublime.
Simply the best.

Relentless aggression. Beast mode
Good video

i like the court level vies better because it allows us to really appreciate the skill more. it seems like they're hitting so much harder!
Yes Man, more of that 👍😃
Love
At most of the big tournaments the camera is much too high and consequently, too far away. The US Open is the greatest offender. Years ago it eliminated the camera in the first level of seats right amongst the fans. Court level shorts are shown rarely. Since everything is done for more $$, I wonder what is going on in the minds of the people who have decided that the camera should be higher and higher.
it easier to show advertisements when angle is so big. the walls surrounding the court are plastered in brand names, and keeping them in the shot at all times increases the revenue.
Wimbledon keeps a good balance.
amazing talent
If God made a tennis player, it would be Roger Federer.
4:15 footwork on serve Is perfect. The mechanics needs the less movement to release a huge whip
He makes it look so easy!!
Cool that’s amazing
so much talent
He never panics... just picks his spot and hits it. He's not in a rush to win the point inspite of how well and early he attacks.
For his age, Federer still has very good range of motion in his legs and wide base, especially his hips, which I believe contributes greatly to his continued success. More importantly, as we look through these highlights, those with a good eye can see where the balance of many players are which can greatly influence their movement, especially the explosiveness. Aside from certain tall players, even a player like RBA, you can see what limits his movement. He's still a good mover, but look carefully enough and one might notice that his base can be better, as well as his center. Overall, just noticing from this angle the things that can be better. They're good, but they can be better.
the shot he made at 1'01 is so incredibly difficult and he did it with ease
did Roger just Happy Gilmote that overhead? pretty cool!
Wish you all the best in AO 2019 for another grand slam win. And EPL win for CFC
We will have happiness in Aus again mates, support Roger!
I love that he is doing this modified serve volley/chip charge kind of old school tactic. It works. I understand he is getting older and probably needs to shorten the points.
Great upload! Would like to see Rafa and Djokovic too!
i dont care who's the GOAT, can see this men playin its art. (PS Roger is the GOAT ahahahah) excelent compilation
The Australian open was the only tournament where Federer turned into a god this year
I thought he played better at the 2017 AO.....he was probably 80 percent at the 2018 AO compared to 2017
Maria Simitsis that’s why they said “this year (2018)”
Roger Federer is amazing, but then again, I think we all know that
Sublime Roger!
Did anyone else see Nishikori around 10:05 say "If I can't beat him, I'll join him." by attempting that one-handed backhand pass under duress?!
Really hope to get court level view for more top pros
