Firing up and running "Buckeye" O&K 0-4-0 Steam Locomotive!
Buckeye is a 2ft /600mm gauge locomotive that was built in 1935 by Orenstein & Koppel in Berlin, Germany and was used to shunt cars for a series of mining interests in Southern Africa, the last being a Chromium Mine on the Selukwe Peak Light Railway in what was then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). In the 1960s it was donated to a non-profit group and entered park service on the Gwelo & District Light Railway, which was a park railroad run for the entertainment of children and adults alike.
Purchased by Peter Nott in 2004, it was moved to the central coast of California, United States where it was completely restored from the ground up to a high level of quality. Buckeye now operates on the Norgrove Railway in Arroyo Grande, CA. Join us as Hayden Seybold and Peter Nott fire up and run Buckeye on the 2/3rds of the railway which is now complete.
Narrow gauge steam engines are such sweet little things.
Beautiful locomotive. That has to be the cleanest operating steam loco I have even seen.
A handsome little engine, a credit to O&K and her present owners.
Lovely lil steam engine!
WOW! What a magnificent video recording Mike, THANK YOU! I have been hoping to finally get a better view of the "BUCKEYE", my hopes have been fulfilled, she is a superb restoration, and appears to be a fine, fun "Steamer"!-- It is also very interesting to see the progress made on the NR over the past couple of years, they have come a long way. The dedication, excellent planning, and hard work is obvious and quite stunning-- what a fine steam railway!!
What a beautiful locomotive. I really loved this and the davenport video
Excellent operator work. Talented , industrious people restored this shunting locomotive . Bravo
There’s nothing more beautiful than a steam train!
I thought it was a beautiful womens vagina.... maybe most of us train guys dont know much about that though lol
What a charming locomotive you have.
Glad to see that you're uploading again. I love your videos!
Sorry it's not more often...I'm trying :) There's a few more coming this year.
@@MasseeMedia A few is better than none!
Nice locomotive . very clean .
Adorable! I want one!
so amazing👍 I'm from Indonesia, I'm very impressed with your train videos, they're very cool
Good job
This is great, enjoyed your film of the Davenport as well. I'm really impressed by the quality of the filming and editing. Great track layout, cute locomotive, as they say nowadays "what's not to like!"
So amazing you TECH 💖💖👍👍
Muito bom a Locomotiva
Very original ,like
nice looking tank engine The Germans built some lovely looking engines
I got to see this engine myself back in 2019 as it attended the very last railfest event the Fillmore & Western Railway did before they closed 2 years later. I was surprised it was built in Germany as the only other train related thing I had seen that wasn't from America at that moment was a boxcar from the U.K. Glad to know this engine still runs and that it's well taken care of by its owners.
Buckeye looks like Douglas from talyllyn railway but with a bell
I know alotta Orenstein & Koppel narrow Gauge steam locomotives like this one in Java that would need help from talented hands like you guy's
They are all over the planet, a testament to the quality of the german factory.
Wow!! What a Great restoration on such a beautiful engine!! Love it. ❤️ looking forward to finding out more information on where it is and if it's open for visitors and a possible ride.
This video has cracked 900 likes 901 folks😊
Sleeping and living on that for 1 day would be something diffrent
*LOL only in CALI!*
Fantastic. Does he have an estimation on when it will be complete? Please keep 'em coming. Really enjoy the videos.
I think the mainline will be complete next year.

I SWEAR, THIS LOOKS LIKE DOUGLAS FROM TALLYN RAILWAY
good well tank
By chance do you know where to get drawings for steam trains
hi do you know where i can get one of these locomotives
Stick a leading truck on it and you'd almost have a cute little 4-4-0 American. Love that sound. Is the Davenport still there? Makes me nervous to not see ballast to the top of some of the ties.
yeah the davenport is still there, with all the work they put into getting it running again I doubt Mr. Nott would be so willing to let it go haha.
Anyone know what he’s wiping the engine down with at @1:55?
Maguiar’s Final Inspection
Gajabbb
Feels like it just needs a head lamp. Is it missing one from its prime or has it never had one?
Never had one
@Raymond Leggs that's weird. Thought it would be on the foot plate.
Are you rebuoilding these locos as wood burning steam engienes, because as far as I know, this used to be coal burning.
It’s surprising how steam locomotives built for similar work look so different from one country to the next. Compare this German Feldbahn with, say a British two foot gauge 0-4-0 loco.
I know another O&K engine that that resides at the Heston steam museum that engine is an outside frame 0-8-0 tender engine that was built by O&K in 1938 it last operated at Heston in the 2010s it is currently waiting its turn to be rebuilt by the Heston steam museum alongside the CSK 0-4-0 tank engine which when it operated it sported a beautiful sounding Baldwin 3 chime whistle during the 1990s both operated into the late 2000s before they were taken out of service for their next rebuild currently there is still waiting hopefully they will both operate again in the near future especially the German O&K outside frame 2 foot narrow gauge steam locomotive here’s a video link of it operating at Heston besides have a German whistle it had a Baldwin 3 chime whistle kzhead.info/sun/pd6SYchrpIeJf6c/bejne.htmlsi=mKe_0_xuAGm8iObW
Is it a wood burner?!
It can burn wood or coal equally well. There were a lot of fallen oak branches and thus free firewood available...
@@MasseeMedia but then isn't there the matter of wood sparks going everywhere?
@@jayo1212 No real fire danger out there near the coast, but it does tend to burn clothing and benches on the train, so don't wear anything you care about if you want to ride in the first car :)
Is that in California USA !
Arroyo Grande CA!
