That was so exciting, what a way to start the day, watching Kelly Slater, truly a marvel. Best I could do was hang 10 on a longboard, ha ha! I think he has more than twice as many titles as anyone else? Truly a legend, and at 48 he is still surfing competitively. I hope he wins some competitions In the years ahead.

Thank you for uploading this I heard Kelly had so much footage for his part that you guys had to cut a lot out I can't imagine the editing process. Also the directors commentary is super interesting for this movie it was cool to hear Taylor talking about each part then Matt beauchense ( i know I'm getting the name wrong) taking over the last part of It. Would love to hear it again, anyways thank you guys for these clips I had the whole poor specimen collection in my car but it got stolen so I'm stuck to these clips so good seeing these movies again

Are faster after bottom turn, have wider carves and can be applied more pressure
Of course the longer mid skool boards work lol. If the board is longer than the height of the rider, you get more drive and stability while still being able to turn pretty aggressively. All that is needed is an inch or 2 longer than the rider. In the mid skool days they seemed to have boards that looked kind of long, up to 4 inches longer than the height of the rider. Such as a 5'10 guy riding a 6'2. In current times we have a much closer tolerance between the board and the height of the rider. Most guys ride a board about an inch longer than their height. While some guys like Kelly ride boards at or an inch or 2 below their height. Boards like that turn and accelerate more quickly but have less stability, drive, and flow. I def think Kelly looks better riding boards above his height.
