I remember the first time I played with the Otomo. Sold land to the Portuguese in every province, made an entire army of Terucos, European cannons backed by a navy of Nanban trade ships and led by the Black ship once captured. My daimyo died of natural causes and since I kept him in the field since day one, no kids so when I took Kyoto, the female head of the clan technically became Shogun put in power by an army of foreign mercenaries from Portugal.

The concept of “Europeans” was not formed in this time period in Japan. Bushido isnt a religion nor is it a philosophy. Matter of fact, it didnt even appear until the Edo period.

@Great Bodhisattva Shingen No, its called Bushido(武士道). It wasn’t an official adoption by the samurais themselves but rather something that was promoted by the Shogun due to neo-Confucius ideals.
I recently managed to complete an Otomo Campaign on Hard without having to go to war with a single faction, besides the Shogunate. Turns out Missionaries are OP. Build a Chapel in both your startiong towns, recruit missionaries, then sit them in your towns till they level up, then once they have got some ability to incite rebellions you go do that, to every single province you come across. To take a province all you need to do is keep inciting rebellions until the rebels take the town, then swoop with your army and take it. You have no captured another clans province without having to ruin any of the relations with them. Rince and repeat, building Chapels in every single town so you can have a veritable swarm of Christian Missionaries running around converting the heathens and speading the word of god.
This sounds truly epic!

Do this but with the ikko ikki monks, and build their version of a temple in your cities, the best part about them VS the christians is once a province rebels and they are victorious in taking the capital, the city falls under your control immediately, and you gain the rebel forces as your own, no need to go to war with anyone ever, just use the monk they let you start with and just let him become a 6 star rebellion starter with 80-95% chances of success
Oh, and you start with a fletchers and blacksmith, and your generals act like monks as they will convert provinces to the ikko religion as well
*Enemy Ship:* Look, the enemy brings trade ships to attack us, they must be desperate! *Nanban trade ship:* The portuguese call this maneuver "leave my spices alone".

@@lazyhead9071 No, its theoreticly only viabel in offensive sieges and siege defence, but can also be used on the field, but it has an extremely unreliable accuracy. The mangonels are even worse in that regard.

In my opinion, of all the empires to claim the title of “3rd Rome” only four of them held any legitimacy in my eyes. Russian Empire -> Cultural Claim (pretty obvious) Ottomans -> Geographic Claim (pretty obvious) Spain -> Administrative Claim (ie ran their Empire [especially Habsburg Era] very similarly to how the Romans administered their Empire). Italian Empire -> Dynastic Claim (the last Byzantine dynasty the Palaiologos had a branch of their dynasty rule the March of Montferrat until the 1500s. A member of that branch (Blanche of Montferrat) married Charles I of Savoy. His descendants went on to form the Kingdom of Italy and from there the Italian Empire.
So basically in this timeline, Japan became a catholic ethno-state and probably there was no WW2.

@@user-yn6ju3uk9o I use that mod as well and the AI is pretty good at maneuvering around the new castles, though on higher Unit Sizes some of the formations/pathing can get wonking. Nothing game breaking though, imo, AND still a lot of fun to use.
@@1WatchesuSleep i disagree. I had to turn that mod off because the AI units would just wander around eating arrows. The towns look good though.

In vanilla Shogun 2 cannons are useless. Matchlocks are pretty good in siege defenses, but otherwise are too much of a hassle to be of much use on the field or in siege offenses.
Well in reallity Oda Nobunaga did fight somehow like the Spanish and Portuguese tercios formation

Yeah pretty much, the cannons seem to be extremely buffed and the sieges are piss easy, from what I can see in the video. Might as well use a cheat mod while playing on legendary.

@@death153278 I was on vanilla with Chosokabe and the Mangonels truly suck. Besieged Kioto with 2 units, they ran out of ammo in no time, could only destroy a tower, a gate and deal a couple blows to walled in archers. Will do more campaigns, maybe try mods eventually.

All of those awnsome siege maps are from the stronghold of the samurais mod?
Yes! Some are the same but a majority of the maps for castles and towns are all different and unique. Some are even based on historical layouts of real castles and towns from Japan, a must mod from personal experience
