  • The best part about this video isn't teaching them a new skill (although that is important), it's teaching them to be confident in their ability to solve problems and get the work done themselves. So many people never even try to do it themselves because they figure it's beyond their ability, but how would you know that if you don't try?

He is clearly still learning some of the technique, and may need to build up some more muscle. • The jack won't "kick back" under this kind of loading where the post is being pulled against friction, because the post won't "retract itself" back into the ground if the handle is released when a pin isn't engaged. But yes, the warnings here definitely apply when lifting a heavy load against gravity. You guys talk of broken jaws. Well, here's another warning. I knew a guy who was griping the top of the jacking beam with one hand when a pin slipped after he released the handle (his jack was dirty and poorly maintained so the pins did not engage reliably). He permanently lost the use of his thumb when the handle flew up and shattered his thumb against the jacking beam. Ever since that happened to him, I hold the beam with my thumb wrapped around it in the same direction as my other fingers, thereby leaving the "front" surface of the jacking beam bare (no fingers in danger if the handle slams into the beam). It's become a habit for me.

  • Great work lads. Not everyone would have this kind of equipment. Maybe a chain on the lift arm of a tractor would do the job.

  • thanks so much! I've been tearing down a chicken coop fencing and grape vine fencing that i had used t posts for support. I using a pick axe and then sheer muscle power to pull them out of the ground. oye vey, very hard work. My boyfriend explained how to remove them with a device like this but i couldn't visualize his explanation. He told me to go watch you tube videos . voila! you guys make it look so easy. sometimes tools are a great help to "mans" strength dilemmas. Thanks kiddos. your determination will serve you well in life!
