SENNHEISERHD660S2 SOUND DEMO

What music genres are you listening to with them? I am considering these but Sennheiser is well known for focussing on the midrange only which the frequency response graphs are proving and it shows me that they are having absolutely no sub-bass and are very flat and neutral which leads to a boring sound experience if you're listening to music genres like metal or rock.

@@makunouchiippo816 I know that the 660s2 are an improvement on the original 660s, but I can fix the lack of punch with my iFi Zen Dac V2 with True Bass on and some eq tweaks to clear them up a bit. And the 660s + ifi zen dac v2 did cost me around the 660s2 launch price, here in Europe.

@@makunouchiippo816 Im a big metal head. And I tend to agree with you regarding Sennheisers HD line. However, I have the 660s2, and I bought it because it suits metal and rock. It's abit more fun than the rest of the line. Don't get me wrong, it's not bass monsters, but they are never harsh, and the bass is there. The sub bass is more prominent here than in the rest of the line.

Hi, interesting content , I also use my 660s primarily in zen v2 dac with true bass selected and Totally agree with you findings, I fitted my hd6 xx with custom cabs bass mid with improved bass at the lowe end , be interesting if any reviewer do a 6xx/ 650 with custom can mod against the 660s2 . I spent the last two days listening to the HD660S2s after receiving them and I am very pleased with how they sound; I'll just refer to them as S2s. Just as a note: I haven't owned any "audiophile headphones" before these; the main headphones I use daily are the Bose QC45s. I mention this because I have no reference point with people's comments about how the S2s "are an upgrade to the 660s, 650, etc. " I am not an audiophile by any means so I'll try to explain the best I can. Bass-wise, it really surprised me. Full, rich, and to the point that I can "feel" the music, just like if I placed my ear next to a large party speaker and felt the vibration graze my ears. I listen to a wide variety of music but the one instrument I've been denied from appreciating with my Bose was the bass guitar. With the S2s, I can finally hear its deep rumble when it's plucked. Mids are clear; I can appreciate all of the instruments and pinpoint what is playing. Highs are powerful but not to the point where it's too bright or unbearable. Male and female singer's voices are sharp and slightly recessed as compared with the other instruments. This was something I was not used to and initially, was disappointed in. However, what I found great after listening for hours is that my ears never grew tired, no matter how loud my music got. I guess I still need to get used to this. Soundstage-wise, its quite narrow. I was not expecting it to mimic some great orchestra hall but can now see what people are talking/complaining about. What I mean is that instead of the music having a spacious, airy feeling, it simply feels like that the musicians/singers are in a small circle right at your ears (hopefully this makes sense). Imaging is fantastic. I can hear instruments that I did not hear before plus can easily sense where they are (i.e. in front, side, or behind me). In my opinion, these are fantastic headphones and I am enjoying them even more each day. They are paired with a Fiio K7 dac/amp

I agree i’ve heard the 660S and it’s not worth it’s price, the singer in songs are covered by a blanket due to the veil and it is annoying, EQ does remove some of the veil but the issue is that you lose dynamics, however it did add a bit of detail in the high mids and the treble region but somehow the low mids get recessed. Judging by this video the veil is still an issue on the HD660 S2 and the new model sounds even worse it seems

@@minatoaqutansaiko 一般需要微动态和大动态的场景，或者是古典交响乐器不会过于混乱的情况下，才需要用到解码耳放，一般听流行音乐，或者轻音乐什么的，影响不算大，如果你觉得电脑低频太多，太糊，可以加一个小尾巴，这并不意味着不能听流行和日常

I own both the 660s and s2 (only picked up the s2 because of the internet hype that it was an upgrade over the old). The old 660s sounds more natural with better clarity to me, the s2 seems to take the warmth a bit too far. If I were to recommend the 660 to anyone, I would suggest picking up the 660s for cheap on second hand market…they could easily be eq’d to match the signature of the S2.

hd800s has better on treble. hd660s sound too old , hd800s is like a young lady sound to me.

i guess we can feel it when using k702 compared to hd660s

Mind you, the 800S became EXTREMELY dark over the years by thickening the metal fiber aeras. To the point they not only hold almost no resemblance to the original 800 anymore, but sound even darker than the 660

@@Londonistan_Calling it seem logic in the video weirdly the 800s seemed heavily boosted in the lower mid-bass like 100hz maybe it sound almost drowned and lack a lot of upper mid-range so it sounded like voice was under something heavy but upper tremble seemed present but hided by this hollow bass do you think the 660s2 is great or should i get the more clinical focal clear. Sorry for this long message also bad english french...

​@@Londonistan_Calling I am French. This is what Senneizer doesn't like, he modifies the sound of the same reference without signaling it. I have the 2022 HD600 and the sound is identical to the 2022 HD650 with supporting measurements. The old HD600 was better and much clearer, Senneizer screwed up the new HD600 (the low midrange is blown out and there is a -3dB dip at 2kHz)

from where you take this technical information about the changes on HD 600? Somewhere to compare the frequency response to we know that really exists difference between the old Hd600 and the renew version ? If you can share would be great! Thanks

I agree judging by the sound demo i find that the original sounds much better however the veil bothers me a lot and i’m surprised why the 660S is so appreciated

How much does 660S2 sell in your country? , I'm in China, the current price is about $480

From a personal point of view, I think it is not a good choice to upgrade 560S to 660S2, because it is not worth it in terms of price. I personally suggest that if you have the opportunity, it is better to try 800S. If you have If you go to a headphone store, you can try it. I do like the soundstage, I can hear it from your demos. The bass seems enough to match what I want. I listen to mostly instrumentals, anime songs, game songs, Disney and so forth. Do you still recommend the 800s after knowing this? Or if I can get the 660s2 for cheaper? And then what amp if I get either of them? For now I am using a Scarlett Solo.
