to be toasted by robin williams is a lifetime achievement in and of itself
💯
No one brought the "energy" like Robin Williams. No one. Gone before his time.
Drewg351 The energy, the laughter, a little bit of good-natured roasting, and a lot of likability and respect. Indeed, Robin Williams was - IS - the man.
@@haklaz352Its why its great they picked him to present to Al. One rocket fuel of a man to another
Coke
Cannot forget "Chris Farley" They both left this earth 2 early. R.I.P!!
I would have loved to see Jim Carrey and Robin Williams in a movie together, and wait until the credits to watch the two of them go off...
"Say hello to my little friend A Line heard all over bedrooms everywhere" Robin Williams is brilliant
Captain Deadpool “Sad, but true”
Say hello to my little friend I heard that everywhere it was amazing and if there was a Scarface 2 I wish robin was in
May be in yours
Movie was in the makings for years needed the right actor. They found the right actor who better than al Pacino he is awesome !!
Damn, I though I was the only one using that catch phrase in bed..
A legend holding a speech to another legend. We miss you Mr. Williams
We do. So, so much.
We Really Miss you!!😢
"If you put Robert De Niro in a dryer, you get Al Pacino!" One of the best lines I have ever heard lol
what does it mean bro
@@hasanemirgenc8000 It means he was smaller than Robert DeNiro. When you put certain fabrics in a dryer they shrink. He was the same quality of actor as RDN, and even they had the same, Italian coloring (and ALL Italian men are handsome!)
I don't......get it..??
@@ericburns7789 ok al Pacino is short, but his acting is on par with Robert deniro, so if you put a taller deniro in a dryer, he’ll shrink down to al Pacino size.
I think he meant also a bit more clean
ITS A SHAME THEY DIDN'T AWARD A AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO ROBIN WILLIAMS
That would have been nice to see him at the big table. Surrounded the people that helped him get there.
disco desanti Dam
wouldn't it be the right thing to do to give Robin Williams the life-time award posthumously? there's award ceremonies that allow that but i figure they do it probably a year or at the time after his death. a lot of names have won that award and i agree that it's such a shame he never got one.
smoka joka -You’ve got that right. It’s a terrible shame.
Fuckin A
“For you Godfather!” That line always gets me because it shows deep respect and appreciation.
🙏
I agree!
100%
"For you, Godfather!"*
Absolutely true
“Let’s all raise our glass to Alfredo James Pacino...or as many of us know you, AL FUCKIN’ PACINO. For you, Godfather!” Hell yes, Robin Williams. Hell yes.
For you Godfather made me emotional.
Yes
Robin gave the the best and funniest speech ever !!
How do you know it's "fucking", when it's bleeped? Just kidding. I simply can't understand this and will understand it ever. Why bleep something when EVERYONE knows what it is? And I mean everyone. 🤨🙄
wow....causes me to desire a cup of capUCINO ......
"For guys who were doing Peruvian blow that's a documentary!!!!" Man That had me!!!!!
Little Chandy I screamed 😂😂😂😂😂
Can somebody explain this to me, I don't get it. Thanks!
@@louiemariemdadat3000 Robin Williams did a lot of drugs in his time.
Peruvian blow refers to cocaine, so anyone who’s done a pound of cocaine would be high enough to think Scarface was real life.
Now that made me bust out laughing. No one can make me bust out laughing, spit my water out & laugh so hard, laugh so hard that I can’t breath like Robin Williams. And no one ever will again 💔😭
Robin is the perfect guy to present these type of awards.
No. He still is.
Unbelievable. He should have gotten ten of those.

Billy Crystal too.
"I'd like to raise a glass to you, but that would be 11 months out the window..." Frigging killed me with that one...🤣🤣🤣
For a non american and non native English speaker, could you explain what that means?
@@rohithpadikkal7082 Robin Williams was a recovering alcoholic; if he did have a drink during the awards, he would have fallen back into bad habits. He never had a problem with poking fun at himself every now and then.

Robin Williams was so brilliant at these events. He knew how to break the ice, make people laugh, and also call out the best parts of the person to be honored. He was brilliant! I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say we miss him.
Every single day.
Amen to that
Hugh will explain it to you when the Viagra wears off! 😂😂😂
SO BRILLIANT AND nice! 😍 oh, how I miss him so much. Will Smith was and will never be anything close to him - he was basically the opposite of Robin Williams.
"All of us" included whoever loved cinema and films once! Williams was beloved elsewhere in this planet.
God I miss this man
If god existed and was not a stupendous asshole he would give him back....
Mallory Lauve.....why are you talking to God ?
Yeah me too!😢😭😢

I don't blame you. Even after death, he's still freakin' awesome.

It has been 1 year, I lost my job, my home, my reason for being and I'm still watching him.
At the end when Robin Williams said “For you Godfather” and bowed. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 True respect and humility.

Squirrel Attackspidylll on OK
Squirrel Attackspidy nobody misses uncle Ben though
Who doesn’t?
Robin Williams needs to be given that award posthumously.
Al Pacino does stand the test of time!
Robin Williams was not just a comic. He was a persona, he was charismatic, and grabbed your attention if you liked it or not. I shed a tear for this man that let the demons take his life. I suffer with my own demons and if I had one wish it would be to listen to him for just 30 minutes.
I think many people have shed tears for Robin, myself included, it was several years after he left us before I could watch anything with him In it. Even now I sometimes get choked up and can only watch him for a few minutes.
Few people have the ability to blow the house down like Robin Williams..This is an example of this...The energy that he was able to propel into the audience is second to none and you can feel it from the watching it on the video...one of kind and will be greatly missed.
Even more extraordinary when you consider the audience is loaded with elite Hollywood actors and filmmakers.
Well said! It was once said in an interview with Mr. Williams: "It took me nearly 30 years to come to this point (of comedy). God only knows..what metamophasis I will be in the next 30." This he said after making the film "Good Will Hunting."
Brian mo as patty duke said, he was a performer, what do they do when the off button is on?
One of a kind, RIP Robin
im a 27 year old grown ass man and this brought a tear to my eye. Rip Robin
Their chemistry in Insomnia is beyond words...one of the best hero-villain dynamics
"For you Godfather" when he said that it felt so sincere. I think he had a lot of respect for Al Pacino. Just like the respect I have for you Robin, the Godfather of comedy.
These AFI awards should be released on DVD/Blu-Ray, they are far more interesting than the Oscars.
Eh, no.
What's a DVD

Robin Williams was just the best actor! Funny and kind!
There's never a dull moment when Robin Williams is kicking off an AFI tribute to a great actor such as Al Pacino. They were both great in the film "Insomnia" together.
I love the look on Pacino's face when Robin walks out, he's like "Okay. Here it comes..."
"For you godfather" sounded so genuine and sincere. He was the GOAT of improv.
The way he bowed down while saying, " For you, Godfather "... Oh God! Amazing. Just fuckin amazing. Williams must have loved and admired Pacino so dearly. Both greats of their craft. Love them. ❤
Robin - a brilliant mind, an underrated actor, and a man who was deserving of a larger helping of health. RIP
Very rarely do comedic actors win awards. He should have won one for Dead Poets Society, Patch Adams, and many more incredible performances, Good Will Hunting is another.
What do you mean underrated?Do you know how many Oscar and Golden Globes he win and bunch of awards he got in movies ?
he was NOT underrated lol

Robin is absolutely brilliant in this tribute to Al Pacino
I think no one could make an intro like that...god we are going to miss Robin Williams so much. Rest in peace
Robin Williams had more value than we ever gave him while he was alive. Bless his soul.
Avi Nieuchowicz thats fucking true...
I mean he was worth more than 100$ million when he died, plus no one ever said a bad thing about him (almost impossible to achieve in show business). Pretty much everybody loved him. Idk how much more value we could've given him.
that's cause we miss him soo much.
"If you put a Robert De Niro in a dryer you get an Al Pacino." Pretty accurate lol!!!
can u please explain what exactly it means..
@@vamsidocs5137 In a loving and joking way, Robin williams compared Al Pacino to Rorbert Deniro because both were equally legendary actors. However Al has a very dry sense of humour and personality, he was always serious.

Robin Williams was such a beautiful man and human being. He was my childhood, and helped a bullied, depressed kid get through a lot. The problem with Robin Williams is he always had to out do his last performance. It was like climbing Mt. Everest.
how is that a problem?
Nads It slowly but surely becomes impossible.
Ho0pz4sho that doesn't matter as long as you're striving to do better than you have before there's nothing wrong with that.
Nads Well apparently it mattered for Robin Williams. I never said it's a bad thing to strive to better yourself every time, I was just saying that I think it was a part of Robin's problem. Just speculating. :)

"say hello to my little friend, a line heard in bedrooms all over the world, sad but true" Robin Williams (godfather of laughing)
This really made me cry. Robin, you did an amazing tribute to Al Pacino! ♥️
Robin Williams is indeed a master of impromptu, his routine could pass as being scripted, but I don't see a TelePrompTer anywhere! And even if there was one, he would totally ignore it! One of the last (or maybe is... THEE LAST) true comedians to ever exist in our lifetime. Rest in peace, Mr. Williams... You will be forever missed. :(
odiemodie1 he did improvise lines in his movies and did many stand up shows

Nanu Nanu, we will miss you Robin.
Robin Williams celebrating Rober De Niro and Al Pacino. Three of the 5 acting masters of all time for me. All gods bless you Robin!
Who are the other ones? Jack Nicholson? Humphrey Bogart? Marlon Brando?
+Tom Waits Meryl Streep and Dustin Hoffman. Saying "of all times" is maybe too much but are definitely the best of what I call "their generation" which doesn't involve age, just "a way of acting" to keep this short. The subject is too much complicate to dissertate about right here right now. I just devoured cinema, all kinda cinema including mute, since very early age, my father was passionate about movies and great actors and my ambition is to direct actors of talent in a close I hope future.
True but the two masters when they were asked about "their own" master in acting they answered without no hesitation "Marlon Brando"...
DeNiro is a dick.
