Doing carpet for four years prior, trained in mold and mildew removal I can 100% guarantee that steam does NOT kill mold or mildew. To properly remove mold and mildew you need to use vital oxide spray or a mold killer, then follow with an ozone treatment for about an hour especially with something that intense. I detail cars now and I do that exact process
Hi can you train me as well
Not to mention mold that might still be dwelling in the AC ducting.
@@hunkydory419 most certainly there is mold in there.
As long as moisture and humidity level is below a certain threshold then fungi such as mold will not grow.
@@CL-yp1bs Except this car is in Florida, where that never happens.
You did a great job with the superficial mold and mess. I am concerned this car will eventually be resold to an unsuspecting buyer and the previous mold will not be disclosed. As a person who buys used cars this makes me cringe...
Yeah hopefully that did not happen but I wouldn’t be surprised that the customer pays the cleaning fee then resells the car as “lightly used”
Is it a salvage vehicle? I hope so, that's the purpose of salvage titles
When you buy cars flooded due to disasters at auction, that's how they come, but they sell them to you at the price of eggs, cheap. The problem is that if you don't change the complete wiring, the car will always give you problems. They are good to resell, to keep them, I do not recommend it. And of course if the seats are not removed, the complete upholstery of the car and they are not cleaned underneath and the complete carpet must be removed and put back. of course you have to use a Clorox based product like oxy clean, or ammonia (never mix ammonia with another product, it could kill you). Otherwise, the buyer is going to have a lot of health problems. I don't buy them, but my boss does, and he has no heart, much less compassion. Whoever buys these cars ends up suffering from asthma and respiratory problems. To keep a vehicle like this and have peace of mind, it is advisable to replace all the upholstery, the roof, the wiring and the carpet. And replace de whole systems of AC . Never buy a car flooded in water.

You remove the mold you see on the surface, but the mold is already in the fabric. You clean it all up, it looks great, and you sell the car or parts again, the new owner doesn't know about the mold and gets sick of it. Great job.
Bless you! I thought this was going to be declared a disaster and nothing could be done. Apart from the centre console, everything was able to turn out near perfect. I hope the new owners can get many more years out of the Lexus. That mould was right thick! I’m surprised no frogs came out to wave hello 😵💫
My experience with a moldy car:: I live in Portland Oregon. When I was young and stupid and broke, my car had a leaky window and I just could never afford to get it fixed. The rain poured in slowly over the winter, and molded the carpet. Then the car broke down and I couldn't afford the mechanic. It sat on the street for at least 4-5 more months. When I finally went down to the car to check to see if it was still running - the WHOLE INSIDE LOOKED LIKE THIS CAR!! I freaked out. So I did basically what this guy is doing...and borrowed a steam cleaner and spent around 8-9 hours cleaning every single thing in that car. It looked great and even smelled okay...although I do feel like there was a "hint" of moldy smell in there still. I got the car fixed finally and drove it through the summer. There was no more mold during the hot weather - but as SOON as the rains came in the fall, the mold was rampant. It was "waiting" for the right conditions to re-appear. And I can tell you - even if you get rid of the mold on the seats, the fabric and cushions inside the seats contain spores.
Yeah, that mold was still nesting on the inside
Ok this is something really random but I love the way you structure your text lol.
There's no easy way to get rid of the mold. You'd basically have to strip the interior down to the painted surface. Carpeting and the padding under it, all of plastic trim, dash, head liner, etc. Even though, you still wouldn't be able to get into all of the nooks and crannies needed to kill all of the spores.
@@bomberdawesome Ikr i read the whole comment cause of that

When you have a car that moldy, do you recommend always using the ozone treatment? I’d be worried about there being remnants of the mold in the air, even though the car has been thoroughly cleaned.
I would be scared to turn on the AC or heat of this car. Even with having the filter changed, the ducts and inside vents will be infested with mold spores.
The Bible says "Whoever Believes In The Lord Jesus Christ, Shall Be Saved!" The Bible also says In (Matthew 4:17 "Repent for the kingdom of Heaven is at Hand"). So true.. Even my car, which I drive daily, forms mold which I can smell (and thus breathe in) when I turn on the AC. Leaving a car out in the open for 3 months with broken windows is 100 times worse. I would not trust this interior.
he is a believer@mdrhea
@mdrhea 🤣
You can do an ozone or other treatment with the air recirculating
All I have to say is even though he cleaned all of that mold off, no matter what there’s still a lot more mold underneath all the panels, carpet, etc. Unless he plans to fully take apart the whole car, mold will still be living in there
And there are still spores there so the mold will come back in the right conditions
He said if the beginning of the video that he’s going to give it to someone who means to completely redo the car. I think he’s just getting rid of the mess inside the car so the repairman doesn’t have to.

@@AzamatSlowedAndReverb it's like magic. My poor car has been through it but I don't get repeat mold in the same areas because i used disinfectant and ozone.
