Only prefacelift ones had v8 manuals, at least here in Eu market. Not sure if its with m60 or m62 (non vanos) tho. But personally i believe that auto suits this large limousine better.

whats the knocking noise? Hope it's not the chain flapping due to broken chain guide.

Vanos gears, it's common on all M62Tu motors. It doesn't affect functionality just an annoying sound.
