A 38 in Mora is just obscenely beautiful.
Wow, what a beauty. It must a dream come true to take this baby out of the garage in a sunny Sunday morning.
That is a clean e38 n the alpina wheels are a nice touch
Awesome. To own a V8 E38 you have to love it.
I had the E39 540i Msport.. Fantastic engine...
Amazing work thank you Eddie for taking on the mob. If you guys need any work done this is you man!!!! E38 mob father Eddie 🙌👊🏽
What color is that
Excellent motor fella 👍
Amazing color + fitment a rare Bavarian Beast! Ed is a Charm! Ricky is so Lucky to have him! Quality is King! Alpina wheels are the best looking and toughest for that Rocket.
Thanks 🙏 😊
Brilliant cars, had two E38's, a 728i and a 750iL, both had rotten fuel tanks, the 728 had been fibreglassed, the 750 wasn't as bad but still leaking at the seam, managed to bodge it with quick steel, the tanks are a killer on these cars.
Yeah true tanks is one of the weakest points..and metal is so think hard to repair New ones is £500 ish if u rust treated it should be fine for another 20 years
@@The777Garage Ah, they must have came down in price, they were about £1000 ten years ago and pretty hard to get, big job to replace.
What a breathtakingly beautiful car!
It is indeed 👌
stunning condition
Timing chains don't need to be replaced since it's soaked in motor oil. The chain tensioners do need to be replaced when necessary. This is a mistake a lot of people make, it's only to get a lot of money out of your pocket.
Sorry my Dutch fellow BMW lover, But the chains do stretch and get invisible Metal fatigue. For $480 cad dollars it is crazy not to change them! Lived in the Dam for a few years so i understand why you are frugal. Heil Mooi Auto!
@@petepenn1 Agree to disagree. And it's "hele mooie auto".
That is a very beautiful color.
Enthusiast level 10 reached!
I love Ricky,s Rim s, that style
Great video. Much respect to you on how you care for these cars. I wish there were more mechanics like you in the States.
Damn, that colour is just stunning!
Gotta get mine sorted out
every time i see a car loading on a trailer, instantly all those car unloading fails compilations come back to me. LOL
Haha..I always got that in mind...what if??
Hey man ..... Enjoyed your video and really appreciate you sharing what it takes to change out the timing chain guides. I have an E38 and the job doesn't seem to be as overwhelming as I thought..... After reading the E38 repair manual. Again thanks for sharing and I sure miss visiting your great country..... Spent time in the Army in Germany and spent over there flying Chinooks to our sister NATO units there from training!!! 😊 take care be safe!!!
Thanks for feedback
I like your bmw e38 ! ❤ nice car !
What a great work on the e38 , again you are the man! Best wishes for 2022, cheers from Durham nc
Thanks 😊
Is the best car...All about it I love it.
Stunner. Always wanted an E38, maybe one day.
Do it 🙂
Can’t find any😩
Job well done.
Good Job. I am your huge work fan from US.
I wish BMW made a couple more thousand e 38s and a few hundred Alpina versions as a tribute to this model with a few mechanical upgrades for better reliability with just some electrical upgrades such as a USB phone charger and a spot designed for an iPhone or android in place of the car phone. That's it.The rest would be the same as it was originally done. They would sell out before the last one rolled of the assembly line. lol The most beautiful and elegant BMW 7 series ever made. It is amazing and above and beyond inside and out. Its perfect.
I thought exactly same
This was a really fantastic video, thank you for uploading!
Eddie is the best I hope one day he will take some time for me too🙏
Banger job. Wasnt that 735 "E3B VB" broken for parts?
What suspension parts do you recomand....
Is it possible you could you could post the parts list you used for this fantastic timing chain job.
how did you do the timing? nice video as always. cheers
The jesus bolt honestly I'm not truly not lying I've never had a serious problem with any. But I've had one thtook me an hour
Eddie that was amazing video where are you located I also am a proud owner of a E 38 750IL and I would love to get you to do some work for me
♥️♥️♥️♥️
I want those wheeeelzzzzz for my 2001 740 shorty
Oh, it’s just like my 7er. It has another 7ers worth of parts in the boot.
damn, i'd like to fly you over for a few projects!
hi mate , im looking to change the vanos on my x5 m62tub44 engine cant find vanos units to buy new . whre u got those shiny ones O.O
Werry werry good isn't it isn't it
Just found your channel the other day, gonna be super useful, mines at 260k not sure if the timing chain guides have been done before, I’m noticing a strong rattle occasionally on the startup but it goes away after a few seconds, you think it’s the same issue as this?
Start up rattle is empty vanos units..basically seals doesn’t hold oil inside and that’s why rattles for second
@@The777Garage I have this on my X5 4.6is, what is the recommended fix please.
Change it Yesterday!
@@petepenn1 changed it months ago
What is the PaintCode ??? WOOOW SOO BEAUTIFUL
Mora mettalic
How did you take out the jesus bolt so easily? Did you put the pin to the transmission that comes with the timing kit?
Yes pin and used heat and impact gun
@@The777Garage Great and we are looking forward to watch your future videos. Great work!
Hi Ed, enjoyed this video. I really want to learn how to work on these BMW M62 engines and learn more about mechanics in cars Could you advise me on how I can go about doing this? In terms of a degree masters degree training, etc? Also, how do you remember where each thing goes and do you label the screws you took off for each thing you removed?
Everything comes with experience to be honest.. Best practice is to take stuff apart which u won’t need to put back together and basically understand what u doing
That's such a lovely colour, don't suppose you want to sell it do you ?
Not forsale
Bro nice job I have an E38 Schnitzer on 177k. Timing chain perfect for now, but I’m sure at some point it will need doing. What did you charge for this?
£700 ish
The 777 Garage where are you? I’m on 177k but change oil every 3k since 130k so no issues. Yet.
@@The777Garage Very Fair price!
@@The777Garage what a price! as an american driver, ive been quoted in excess of $4,000 for this job. currently watching your videos to help me with timing the car before i put it all back together 🤙🤙
@@The777Garage wow you're very decent with pricing😮 3 years ago I had e39 540i and was asking around for timing chain job, I was getting £2K+ quotes , so thought shit that's too expensive to maintain and sold it 🙂
😋😋😋
The back of my key fob unlocks the boot it only rises 1 inch and if i press it again it locks but it doesnt rise .why not .
Top up oil in the pump
What was the reason for changing the timing chain? I have a 1992 740il done 245000 km ,am I at the stage of needing to do the same?
Yes plastic guides collapsed
You got m60 engine double chain thicker guides..urs probably will go forever, but still good to do it once per engines life
I have an e38 M62TU but I don't use Castrol oil, your engine is quite dirty, I use a mobile 5w50 phone and I have a beautiful clean engine, much cleaner from the inside than yours
when my 728i is in auto drive.not sports. i leave it in D most days, should it tell me what gear the car is in on the dashboard .
Leave that 2.8 in S it will drink more but run much better and way less carbon buildup.
@@petepenn1 and change up and down myself i never use sport should i use it in sport for a while
Is it better to use sport for a while and change up and down myself my car has been in D for years .never use sport.should i use it as a manual for a while.
Don't need hours of music. Want to see the work. That is content. Just moved along. Good luck with you channel.
How many ks has it done to require a new timing chain ?
About 130-150k miles
did you check for continuity?
Yes
How do I contact you? I have a bmw e39 740i 1999 and I would like you to work on it please! Thanks

@@The777Garage my god super thank
What should a job like this cost here in the states?
1-2k I guess inc parts
How much do you charge for this service ?
Message me on Instagram or email Thanks
How much is the labour on a timing chain job ?
a lot.
@@blvckdxvth helpful
@@briangreen6602 if it wasn’t, then we wouldn’t all be here. 🤙🤙
2.5 grand for all factory parts?
More than that
Lmfaooooo
i get a lot of wind noise from dash centre after 50 mph .annoying
with this combination you're clearly over 3.5T gross which requires you to have a tachograph fitted in the X5 (carrying goods for reward). if not and your insurer does not know I would definitely discourage you from showing video evidence on YT ;) you can probably get away with a lie it's just a favor for a friend if they stop you on the road, but in case any accident happens you'll be in deep sh*t...because they'll ask, they'll investigate, they'll dig...
Thanks for advice
I wish that you lived in the United States. I would let no one but, you touch my 740iL.
Hey Ed! Currently watching your vid been trying to reach you on instagram :(
