    @mysock351C@mysock351C2 жыл бұрын
    • you think its the diff? Its for sure something in the drivetrain, you can hear it pop & then grind as it spins down. i was thinking closer to the engine...torque converter / trans, now Im thinking rear diff or maybe just snapped a u-joint on the drive shaft. what do you think he did, reved it in N & dropped it into 1st? I dont even know if that vehicle is manual / auto.

      @mtraven23@mtraven232 жыл бұрын
    • @@mtraven23 It would likely have to be after the TC since it only does it in gear. Since its IFS it could also have been one of the drive axles as well. From the speed of the grinding sound, though, it sounds like it might have shattered or stripped one of the spider gears. A broken u-joint would be more of a clatter from the drive shaft or drive axle flopping around, but a CV joint giving out could potentially make that sound. But it sounds quite metallic and like its coming from inside something in the car FWIW.

      @mysock351C@mysock351C2 жыл бұрын
    • @@mtraven23 Its an automatic trans. Looks to be a baseline V6. Edit: From the video it looks like he was trying to do a brake-stand.

    • @@mtraven23 Or even better would be if someone checked the "AWD" option since it was available on Chargers. I don't know if the V6 had that option as well, but it would be a hilarious reason for it to blow. "Just keep pressin' the gas harder bro. It'll work." 🤣

      @mysock351C@mysock351C2 жыл бұрын
    • @@mysock351C yah, good call. The spiders are the gears in the diff, driven by the drive shaft, right? If I just listen to the sound that thing makes, thats exactly what it sounds like to me. what amazes me, is that neither the driver or cameraman seem to recognize that something MAJOR has broken for sooooo long.

    @mysock351C@mysock351C2 жыл бұрын
    • your car’s paint is supposed to withstand every day moisture. also road salt reduces moisture

      @misseselise3864@misseselise38642 жыл бұрын
    • @@misseselise3864 Road salt also GREATLY increases galvanic corrosion and rusting. It's not just normal salt. They also add other ionic compounds to enhance its effectiveness in very cold conditions since NaCl in ineffective below a certain temperature. It's only the base primer and any sacrificial coatings present that protect the metal underneath. Once those are consumed, the small areas of exposed metal that normally happen from impacts with small rocks and other debris start forming rust, and this then spreads under the paint and into the interior of subframe rails and such, leading to your typical northeast and rustbelt cars we are all so familiar with.

      @mysock351C@mysock351C2 жыл бұрын
    • @@misseselise3864 No, salt is hygroscopic, that is it ATTRACTS moisture. Especially if it is mixed with calcium chloride. Look at two different roads on a cold and moderately humid day. One salted, one not. The salted road will be damp while the clean road will be dry. If you ever bought salted soft pretzels in a paper bag they get mushy for the same reason.
