"Our problem with digital distraction is not the internet, it's not our phones. It is specific products and services that are engineered at great expense to pull you back to them."
Very deep
Great quote
Can you please define last line in brief
@@adityarawane "Its the apps that have spent millions of dollars to find the weak spots of human minds and make us addicted to them"
I like how he says, not that there’s not good in it, how that the balance is off. That’s so true.

No new insights in the video. It's alot of waffle and lacks substance
Watching this video instead of studying for my exam tomorrow
You can do better mate
You're getting your fuel in 10 mins for a better performance, no guilt in that

😂
About a year ago, I realized I was addicted to social media. Went cold turkey and I'm better off for it. Now when I want to know what my mates have been up to I have to physically reach out and make time to see them I'm also far less exposed to negativity.
please can you guide how did you achieve that state of cold turkey
Watching this video rather than preparing for my ielts test in the next few days 😢
Great clip original interview was great also. I now follow him . I agree it's so important to have time disconnected from inet or phone. To get something you have been wanting or needing to do done. It can also to just be to get much needed down time or just peaceful . I admit the phone thing hard , but very important to put it away for a period of time. Thank you for sharing
Best Guest 👍
I was born in 1977. Best teenage years, had to go to a payphone for my Mom to come pick me up when i was skateboarding. Not sitting around, on a device...too many obese teenagers TODAY
The same age as my Dad
Doesn’t matter if we grew up with it or not. I’m just as hooked on my apps at 40 as my 9 year old is with her little kid stuff. Since I’ve decided to dopamine detox starting in a few days I’m limiting my daughter’s access as well. Her phone actually broke a few days ago and I’m taking it as a sign. I’ve seen her start to play and create and paint again.
The irony of watching this as a form of distraction from what I know I should be doing 😂🎉
😂😂😢
😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
So true lol
Yes bro, I am studying biology, I watched this video next swipe up to see recommendation and recommendations video surplessly, and clicking shorts and scrolling about 150 videos and then successfully wasted 3 hours and fell frustrated if I not wasted 3 hours I studied 2 chapters. And again watch how to focus video to nothing thinking. If you cut down shorts and videos and sit silently in park or walk. Then you will realise . I wasted 1 year by watching video and not studying. Because I smart phones only I study.
Conclusion is stay away from devices, remind yourself again and again about hardwork and success ... practice remembering it ! And stay consistent ❤
Thank you! Needed to hear this today!!💛
The best advice. Thank you so much 🙏🏻🙏🏻
If someone feels drained when their phone is drained and has energy when their phone is charged up they have a major problem that needs to be addressed, otherwise when things get hard they will have no mental endurance to overcome. It's no different from drug addiction or nicotine addiction
i need to get back on deep work and focused work 💪🏻 stop the task switching and multitasking habits
How do we set good boundaries if our work involves social media? E.g. Marketing, Advertising
The problem is that I need social media for my work (both paid and voluntary work). What I have to do is discipline the use and control the time spent on it.
I don't know why I watch every video on yt but now I can't watch any video of Andrew huberman channel
can we please discuss the near hopeless irony that most of what we watch on the internet is about how not being on it would benefit us all? What is the truly healthy balance for society as a whole? Is it 0? Are we all so addicted & in denial we won’t even ask the question?
Awesome.
Love the point on neuronal operation of task switching
The technology is good learning and communication tool, but even if have social media sometimes I turn off notification sounds and specify times when I will access it and times to do other work. But it's hard not to get addicted to pseudo interaction, like making comments on. You tube and getting drawn in so sometimes I can myself from this, and try to find ways to get into the real world. But if you are board and having to study on your own it can be hard.
My man Andrew does deep work.
How do I know if I need to take a break from the stress of the activity to make a decision?
"I can comment on that but I wont" hahahahah LEGEND
Fr😂😂 why I went to the comments, looking for someone else seeing that 3:07
Are talking about the "5 Girls One Phone" scandal ?😂

Would love to see more Mullins games. But set expectations for the audience about whether you'll finish the games or 100% them. I'm fine with you finishing the games.
that's why you see more serial killers back in 60s 70s 80s than you see atm. My point is while it's distracting to always be on guard for a disaster you might be fending the disaster off just by being connected.

Yep, i get some strange looks from people, when they find out i don't have a mobile phone.
I use my cell phone as a landline. I rarely carry it when I'm out n about.
I want to throw away my phone too But i work with phone and other device TwT
Interesting, but how did you write this post?

Anyone else getting distracted from deep work by watching this video? lol
Great clip. I don’t use social media. I have FB account but I never log on. I have no FOMO because of this and hardly use my phone unless for texts and email.
is KZhead not also social media
@@marksweeney5237 it is a social platform. One I often don’t realize is. So thanks for pointing that out 😀. I think I group social media as FB, twitter, instagram and TikTok. The social where people just can’t let go of their phones. If everyone could limit that more, be more present and have more patience, we would be in a far better place.
@@marksweeney5237KZhead is an extremely addictive form of social media

Scary stuff man
or as some of us old fashioned people call it -- work
I silence my phone and toss it across the room. Works all the time. Since I am lazy to get up and fetch it.
Some years at past i complain of funds lack but its get settled as i become an investor in Cryptocurrency, Everything we need to succeed in hands depends on self taughts and working towards idea
Invest is a long term strategy that requires patience and discipline ,
4:15 this is literally me😢
Well there exist dichotomy, respectfully both of you are advocating to use less social media platform and at the same time you are posting such informative content on social media. My question is if was not using my cellphone, I could be able to watch it?
"The internet's not that interesting." DUDE! I'm sorry but if you don't find the mountain of information and education on the internet interesting then you're not interesting.
Do you even know who he is !!!!!

Imagine someone only geting the news from NYTimes.
I am not a expert. But you think of it. In your have very few things that actually matter. For me it’s school, working out and finding the perfect partner for me, everything else is trash garbage
I avoid your Social Media as You Dis trackt me from my Dis tracktions

Everyone wears black shirts, specially black t shirts on their videos. Welp, I guess if I’m going to start a YT channel, I need to buy myself a sh&t ton of black t shirts…

Tldw: put your phone away!
This is survivorship bias. Your mom could have a heart attack and without a phone she died
What?
He said no social media. NOT no phone
Junk food for your brain.
Yeah, good stuff, having 6 girlfriends at the same time must be mighty distracting!🤔
He's got the energy to juggle 6 women. His health protocols must work.
What does that have to do with the benefit that he provides to the world huh?!
I’m sure it was hard to stay away from his phone until 5 pm. Regardless this is good information and I am grateful for that.
What the hell are talking about?
