Gabriel Attal becomes France’s youngest prime minister | BBC News

2024 ж. 8 Қаң.
309 101 Рет қаралды

Gabriel Attal has been named France's next prime minister, as Emmanuel Macron aims to revive his presidency with a new government.
At 34, he is the youngest PM in modern French history, outranking even Socialist Laurent Fabius who was 37 when he was appointed by François Mitterrand in 1984.
Mr Attal replaces Élisabeth Borne, who resigned after 20 months in office.
Throughout that time she struggled with a lack of a majority in parliament.

    • 34 years old and he was just a government spokesman and briefly education minister, he doesn't have much experience to be the prime minister of the "5th world power". There is a middle ground between Attal and senile drooling U.S. Senators. Most prime ministers are 45-65 years old.

It was definitely not a topic today amongst my colleagues, and I'm surprised it comes up in a foreign country. We would rather talk about his policies and his ability to lead the country.

    • @@garytebbenham6843 That likely has more to do with your own insecurities than anything else. Also not entirely sure why you think noting that someone is gay is somehow a bad thing when it's of interest. Seems worth noting, simply because he's the first openly gay person in the position, just as his age is noteworthy (though you don't seem to have a problem with this piece highlighting that, even though it's largely as irrelevant as sexuality). I'm guessing you're probably anti-woke brigade, but on the off-chance you're not I don't really see why you think it's a problem, especially given that the majority of this piece was regarding his history in government and relationship to the president.

  • For the people saying he's too young, I personally think it could be a good thing. Age kind of does matter in the sense that a younger MP would align well with the ideologies of the younger generation, which is very powerful and necessary for an effective future of a society. I can speak from experience because my country is run by MPs who are almost all older than 50 years of age. Their views are hardly aligned with the younger generation and they think in a very old fashioned sense. It just doesn't do. This is why I think when young people come into power, like when JFK did, they are immensely popular for obvious reasons.

    • He should change his name. Because Il or El means Allah ﷻ similar to how God means Allah ﷻ. And Jabra, Mika and Saraf mean servant or slave. Thus the filologists said that Jibreel (Gabriel), Mika'eel (Michael) Israfeel (Sarafeel) literally mean 'Abdullah (slave of Allah ﷻ). So it is not befitting that such a person has such a noble name. 'Ikrimah رحمه الله said: جَبْرَ، وَمِيكَ، وَسَرَافِ عَبْدٌ. إِيلْ اللَّهُ. "Each of the words: Jabra, and Mika, Saraaf means slave, and (the word) Il (El) means Allah." • He chose the most transphobic and homophobic government of Macron's presidency (most of them voted against equal marriage, some of them even against the ban of torture on LGBT+ people) despite being openly gay himself, is openly racist, and reintroduced the uniform in schools (200 euros per child for the families to pay, this during an economic crisis). How is he going to adapt to Gen Z if he support conservatist ideals ?

      @arcan762@arcan7623 ай бұрын
    • @@astronotics531 Not true. Some countries like UK and Scandi/Nordic monarchies don't even have a president - the Prime Minister is the head of government while the Monarch is head of state with very little power. And Germany's Chancellor (Head of Government) has more power than its President (Head of State). Also in India, the Prime Minister is the head of government while the President is head of state, basically a ceremonial role like the monarchy in UK.

A privilegied rich kid that was "pistonné" from childhood to minister he was "pistonné" into the most selective school by his parents, "pistonné" into political position by his friends and "pistonné" into the education ministry via Macron. He never did a good job, never had to truly work a day in his life and he's now "pistonné" into prime minister despite being terrible at his previous job. now for the fun part, he's also gay so that means he also got "piston'd" in every sence of the word.
