Fun Fact: Paul Bettany, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe And Robin Williams Were All Considered For The Role Of The Joker Before Heath Ledger Was Cast
Willem Dafoe would have been amazing
They played with Robin Williams and that role. He was originally looked at to be The Joker in the 89 Batman movie but it was revealed to be a trick to get Jack Nicholson.
Paul Bettany would have been interesting. I think Dafoe would have been a better antagonist for Affleck's batman
Not sure about Brittany as Joker, but I could see him as Hugo Strange.
“Ho ho! Why so serious?! Don’t hit the head, why?(because it gets fuzzy ho ho!) “ -Robin Williams as joker
Loved how every actor who played and voiced The Joker brought something somewhat unique and different
The idea of a Jared Leto Joker movie scares me. That movie wouldve been so god awful. Thank Christ we did not get that, and we got the Philips and Phoenix film instead.
I agree! Though I did like his cameo in the Snyder Cut. But other than that his joker sucks!
It’s a shame because he has put out great performances but his ego has pushed him to be a ham and a diva
LOL, that thumbnail bruh 😂. Leonard's all like, "I'M THE JOKER!" 🤣
I’m the joker baby!
We all know Willem Dafoe is clearly the person we want to see as joker but Mads Mikkelsen would have been pretty good too. He truly embodies the villain character.
Was great as Hannibal
Dafoe is too old now, that ship has sailed. Late 90s would've been about right for Dafoe. He looked a bit old by the time of Spider-man, even.
@@srujan00 I think Dafoe could work in a potential Joker 3 movie, with a story inspired by the Three Jokers. You can have Dafoe as the Criminal, Jim Carrey or somebody else as the Clown and Phoenix as the Comedian.
It’s like a lot of shit we all do, we dance around what we know is right and keep going back and fourth on the idea and by the time we decide we watch it slip through our hands. Defoe is too old now , he was honestly too old to play Green Goblin in spider man 3 NOWAY home
@@HunterShark300Jim Carrey ? You can’t be serious lol 😂
Funny that the best dc movies are outside their attempt at an interconnected universe
parents out there need to grasp the idea that not "ALL" comic movies are meant for little Timmy at age 5. especially one titled the joker and based on psychopath. maybe read up just a little before dropping the wee ones off
Some parents took their kids to see Watchmen and Logan just because they were based off of comics
@@cinemaarts8795 crazy shit
Most parents are idiots 🤷♀️
That's the MPAA's fault for letting kids into adult films. In the UK where I live Joker and Logan couldn't be seen by anyone younger than 15. And with Watchmen, 18.
How are you so incredibly good at this? The articulation, the deep knowledge and studying you do, impresses me everytime.
Thnx man! Really appreciate the kind words
I both LOVE and HATE this channel! I love it because unmade or different versions of movies is one of my favorite topics! But I hate it because it gives us a glimpse at how a movie could have been so much better (at least sometimes). I like Joker a lot but damn I would have killed to see a movie where Harley kidnaps Dr. Phil because of her relationship problems with the Joker! LOL! In all seriousness though I love this channel way more than I hate it. Keep up the awesome work!
Haha thank you!
@@rawfreddy How come?
I was quoting Phillips
This is a mostly fun Channel you shouldn't really be like the way you are thinking what if it's fun to think about but you shouldn't really let it consume you
6:00 "No hard drugs, no superhero movies and don't date women over 25."
Do you think Leo would pass on Sydney Sweeney? she just passed the cut off age
Well, hard drugs will prematurely age you.
I love when I find things cut out from a film and say "yeah, they were for the better".
NO HARD DRUGS AND NO SUPER HERO MOVIES!!! Gosh. That’s kinda brilliant. And from Leo. Wow.
Can I just say something? Thank GOD they ditched the concept of a Jared Leto Joker film to do Todd Phillips' crime tragedy instead! I'm very much not hyped for the denser and violent musical sequel but Todd's first outing proved that he had the makings of a truly good genre filmmaker.
Your channel has got me HOOKED! Thanks for another excellent video 🎉
I remember when Joker was came out in October 2019. Warner Bros leading up to its release were so worried it was going to influence copycat violence and as a result nearly pulled it from their schedule. Who would have known the influence it ended up having on it's audience was more fun and peaceful - everyone having watched it just want to go visit and dance on the steps in New York instead!
It was hyped like that so people could go watch it. There was never going to be any violence coming from the movie. It was a feel good movie 😂😂😂
@@orinorio1 I remember seeing 'Joker' on opening night. I knew going in this wasn't a Blockbuster, we have what I call ''The Avengers/Blockbuster'' crowd in the showing though, when they came out you could tell they couldn't believe what they have just gone and seen. A film about male mental health essential.
@@thekingofoldskool2 😆 yeah. During the movie I was just shaking my head. It was the first movie I felt like walking out. I stayed and found myself trying to stay awake. For me it was just a dull over the top movie. When the dancing started I burst out laughing at what I was seeing. I left thinking that I didn't see a movie about the Joker I saw a movie about a man boy who wears make up and wants to be femous and loved by everyone. That's not the Joker I had in mind. Like you said the movie inspired people to dress up and dance. Again not the Joker I had in mind lol
@@orinorio1yeah, it’s really crass when you think about how they came up with the idea. Essentially they made a movie with zero respect for the source material, which would be fine on its own, but the “original” stuff they brought to it was all lifted from way better movies. Aside from Phoenix’s performance, it’s just an incredibly hollow experience from start to finish. It isn’t truly the Joker and isn’t truly a well thought-out or original idea either. It’s just a clever cash-grab honestly.
@@STRANGEANATOMYBAND I think Todd wrote a movie about a guy with mental issues. It was never about DC or anything to do with a comic book or the Joker. The studios made it about that as it would make money like you said playing of the Joker name. Also felt it was a movie all about QP. His movie to show how over the top he can be. Was so he can get an Oscer.
Yeah honestly this is one of my favourite channels, so interesting to have deep dives into what could have been these other movies, often makes me want them to have been made anyways alongside the ones we have now
It would be pretty dope to see Leonardo DiCaprio play a DC villain some day, I think he’d make a pretty dope Scarecrow
Seeing War Dogs shows that Jonah Hill could have been a perfect Penguin
You should do what could’ve been: Black panther 2
These are always so damn insightful. Lesser channels would pad all this info into a 30 minute video, this channel rocks. I cant think of a single video I havent enjoyed.
Thank you!
Suicide squad 2016 is the only movie I've ever fell asleep watching while at the cinema
I fell asleep on one movie as a kid, i think it was cars. I was tired. Then recently it was napoleon which i was super tired and already knew the ending
I almost never go to the bathroom at a movie theater, but I did dusting ss16. And for the first time ever, I considered not going back in the theater
i fell asleep during civil war, but i was tired also
Never stop making videos man they are great. 🃏. I’m also one of the few that believe Leto never got his chance to shine. Yeah I think his behind the scenes stuff was way too much. But I believe Ayer in what he says that his cut is a way different film. Also his role in the synder cut with Batman was great.
Thanks for the amazing video ❤️
Perfect timing since the sequel is coming out soon!!
Really thorough research! Thank you
This was so awesome ive been dying to know about all the behind the scenes drama from this movie & what could've been! 😊 your so great at this man 🎉thank you for your hard work 🙏 this one is one of your bests! ❤
Thank you!!!
Walton Goggins would've made an incredible Joker, sadly he's probably a bit too old for the role these days
I was thinking Michael Caine
Phoenix did a good job. I'm looking forward to the sequeal.
man that was so good i had to come back and watch again lol
I'd like to see Adrian Brody get to play The Joker, he's said it's his dream role.
This was something I’ve never really heard about great vid
You should eventually cover the canceled third Spongebob Squarepants film about alien cats.
That sound nuts.
Hell Yeah.
That is a film that sounds interesting
The Joker was never supposed to be sympathized with, or understood. Point of fact, he is antithetical to understanding, reason and empathy. That's why his multiple backstories in the comics work so well. Todd Philips exploited a cultural phenomenon, only to then blatantly crib someone else's work. So, I've never seen Joker as culturally impactful as the fans of the film have. I WISH Scorsese directed Joker, because he wouldn't have ripped off his own work, and made something more original. Joker (2019) is about as original as "AI generated media", in that it's not that original at all. Art is about courage and challenges, and I see no courage or challenge in stealing other people's work. Without the gravity of Scorsese prior work, you'd just be left with more bro-centric films like the Hangover or Road Trip: movies that lack any real artistic value outside of shock value & memes. Romanticizing mental illness & trauma as a justification for violence and perpetuated trauma is always a lame & predictable "edge lord" move. It's juvenile, as much as it is harmful to those of us who actually have metal health issues & trauma. Then again, we're talking about the person who asked John Wayne Gacy personally to create a movie poster for him just for the controversy and "edginess". He's about as edgy as a Hot Topic sales rack.
Yes exactly. It's just a fusion of other movies. Nothing wholly original.
I am so happy I never had to see Harley Quinn kidnap Dr. Phil. I think that scene alone would have been the "jump-the-shark" moment in modern DC movies. Just the thought is packed full of cringe.
And alternative story to the Joker? In a Joker voice: Are you Serious?
Another interesting video. Now looking forward to next week’s video of Channing Tatum’s Gambit
This channel is awesome. You need more LOVE
Thank you!
AMAZING research! Again...
Thnx!
Leo looks like John Wayne Gacy. 😂
oh man this one looks good lol got the coffee LETS GO BOSSMAN and good morning
Most underrated channel On KZhead
Leto frequently seems to go overboard and doesn't really live up to the expectations he sets. Still, he can be very good at a role that is written and directed well, at very least...a Joker/Harley movie with him and Robbie would interest me, depending on the director and writer.
Leo as lex sounds amazing
William Dafoe is most old folks perfect joker...but let me throw "walton goggins" out there. Thats my perfect joker. Nightcrawler made me interested in seeing Jake Gyllenhaal in the role too.
Do Danny Boyle’s Bond next. Always love ur content
That would be amazing
Great info
In regards to the scars- I would not have minded if they had them in the end sequence and the sequel, like when he was hit in the police car and raised up and idolized, that would be when his face is cut up from the accident or intentionally as he spreads the blood anyway in the final cut. Perfect symbolism when everyone cheers and he permanently is transforming himself
If not for a great rendition of recent times, I could see a Riddler in this style of Universe, but would only be to comparable to Dano's interpretation and potential expansion of the character.
I’ll never understand the hype for joker personally, as you said it’s basically a king of comedy/taxi driver remake
It's more than that, one of the best comic book movies out there
@@norm-bb3bbI think it’s a great film but definitely not a great comic book film, I’d even say a lot of the ties to the Batman mythos felt forced
Its because people can relate to this Joker. He is a over sensitive emional man boy that blames society for everything. Has mental issues and crys. Most males can relate to that as most guys today are over sensitive and emional. If you think of Heath Joker sure you could agree with what he said but you diffently didn't want to be like him and he was terrifying on screen. this Joker movie is soft and makes people feel warm and smile. It's a dancing feel good movie disguise as a sad one
It's a masterpiece, it's one of those movies that makes you want to become an Anarchist, because we live in a society.
@@orinorio1 You couldn't be more wrong, you need to watch what Tarantino said about this movie, the Joker is insane, i can't relate to him because i have nothing in common with him, I'm a woman, i don't smoke, i don't have an abusive mother, I'm not a killer, we know he's a killer but the genius of this movie is that you don't care if he's a killer, you wanted him to succeed one way or another.
Nice one
I remember in 2017 hearing all kinds of things for this movie
Being grounded is what truly made this film work. And I’m saying that as a comic book fan. I don’t mind if SOME changes are made so long as they serve and respect the source material. This was a great example of that happening. It was almost reading one of those one-off stories that meant to be its own, self-contained thing.
There are no changes made here because it's not even based on any of Joker's stories
That she hangs out with him out of pity, and he finds that she has a boyfriend would have been better
Lemme tell ya something, Martin Scorsese likes the 2002 Spider-Man film
honestly athur walked in on her having x with her bf would be a way better reveal or whatever and make it more realistic
Agreed
Do you guys have plans to make a video about what could have been Spawn 1997?
I can look into it
@@Bulletsandblockbusters awesome. what I heard was that the first version that they filmed was serious tonned which is coming from Michael Jay White himself and Malebolgia (the guy who gave Al the powers of a HellSpawn) himself was supposed to be puppet, which itself is better than that awfull CGI version of him that they latter added after receiving an additional 20 million. They cut a lot of scenes to make it what we have today.
We used to apply analytical thought to imagining new changes we could make for the future of our world. Now we obsess in conjecture over how comic book movies somebody already made might have been different if someone different was involved. Pop is eating itself.
Yes
still want to see the grouch movie lol
Considering Iron Fist's rumored inclusion in the Shang-Chi sequel please do early 2000's failed 'Marvel Iron Fist Movie' at some point, With 2003's Hulk writer John Turman having done the script, starring Darth Maul's Ray Park as Iron Fist and Beyoncé said to have played Misty Knight.
I have a love hate relationship with SS and Leto's Joker. Honestly i really liked the modernized take on the gangster idea of joker instead of using 1920s mobster inspiration, 90s and 00s SoCal gang culture. His look substantially grew on me. But his presence in the film, the writing, and conflict reports of his antics just kills the enthusiasm. Leto can do some great work when he's motivated and focused by the script and edit but SS lacked those. First Im hearing about a Joker+Harley follow up to BOP and that legit sounds interesting if the DCEU wasnt already in full blown meltdown by that point
Leo as the joker, hmm. I always thought that Leo would have been a great riddler
Would love to see a Luthor style film to The Joker, or even The Rogues (Flash Villains) in an alt universe villain led film
Can you do What Could Have Been Predator 2?
Hey, maybe you could do animated “what could have been’s,” that be exciting
Great idea
Why does the thumbnail keep changing?
A/B testing
Leo Would've Been A Interesting Casting Desition but at the same time willem dafo would've also been interesting
💯
7:44 I was originally gonna yell “no” but then I thought about it. What would it be like if he used the gun that kills his parents to kill the joker.
What are you talking about?
@@FitchTV just look up Alec baldwin it’s the first thing that comes up.
My favorite part of the movie was Joaquin Phoenix’s performance - so glad that role didn’t go to anyone else
Tell us a little about Tarantino's projects for Star Trek, Casino Royale and Luke Cage.
Already have :) Check out the archives
Clicked on the video to see Leonardo DiCaprio, and four minutes later you’re still talking about nothing related to your headline
Real ones know this is the third thumbnail for this video
Her name is Trini Kwan
Does this count? Blade Runner 2049. But the antagonist, Niander Walllace. Was played by David Bowie?? I liked 2049. But I just felt that ir would have added more gravitas. If Wallace & Deckerd where (roughly). The same age.
Oh I never really noticed but i seems a lot like a movie wich Scorcese would direct..dispite the comicbook aspect wich for me made it a masterpiece..and even so..a comicmovie could win an oscar..me as a comicbook lover my whole life had never dreamt of this.. For Di Caprio: he would fit in like some kind of a sleazy corrupt bankdirector or a top criminal..if he is cast..letś say give him the role of christoffer walken in batman returns
Lol the thumbnail looks more like ben shapiro than leo
Leo as Joker would have been awful and I would have hated it. Phoenix did perfectly
What Could Have Been: Wolfgang Peterson's Batman Vs Superman The Original Plans for the Incredible Hulk (2008)
I don’t know that I’d prefer a Leo Joker to Joaquin’s, but I DO know I would have preferred a Leo Anakin. And I don’t care what DiCaprio said about his visit to Skywalker Ranch: they cast Jake Lloyd to make the transition to him in Episode II maximally convincing. Sorry, a bit of a tangent. But that’s my big casting ‘What if?’ I’ll always imagine would have made the films involved so much better.
Oh man I really want to see Leonard Dicaprio and WIlliem Dafoe as Joker both actors would be fantastic ! Though I still love Joaquin Phoenix as Joker ! Joker is still the best DC movie in recent years and is up there with the dark knight !
Fun fact: Timothee Chamalet has been cast to play John Marston in a red dead movie!
there is no red dead movie.
@@JMDowns9 Austin Butler is Arthur Morgan!
Let's make this a regular thing. We can loosely adapt all the lesser known Scorsese classics with DC characters. Means Streets of Gotham, The Last Temptation of Superman, Wonder Woman Doesn't Live Here Anymore. It'll be sick.
Do the Toy Story video
Man if they'd done the scars thing at the end this could've passed as a origin to dark knights joker
Can you make What Could Have Been: Suge Knight's Death Row Films Production
Thought that thumbnail was Ben Sharpio for a second lmao
Hahahahah
If Leonardo DiCaprio would be a joker he has to be the Gangster joker. Not laughing too much, but his plans are hilariously sinister like 80s joker.
I wonder why Leo won’t do a superhero movie, his boy Tobey is the best Spiderman!
I wonder if he’s gonna do Doctor Strange 2
What could have been: Thomas and the Magic Railroad can you do that
I think Kevin Bacon would have good at playing Arthur Fleck
Leo DiCaprio joker: how many 17 year olds can he hunt down.
I guess Leo will have to play another clown-old blue eyes, Frank
What… Francis McDormand as Arthur’s mother would be perfect, missed opportunity for sure
Since the Phoenix one was supposed to be a one off, IDK why they didn't just make this the next one instead of continuing with Lady gaga.
Oh nah that thumbnail is cursed
Matt Lillard would make a good Joker.
What could’ve been Civil War (X-men vs Fantastic Four)
I have been saying dicaprio for 5 years
That would a good video what could have been Joaquin Phoneix's The Hulk he would have been a way beyyer choice to replace Norton then rufflo or is it bufflo either way better choice
