  • That scene when he loses their child blew me away. It's usually the trope that child survives and everyone lives. When they lose, I was hooked. This is a solid film.

    • Very solid. It shows in the first 10 minutes that no one is safe. The fear is instantly amped up.

  • I love the tragedy of this opening for so many reasons. It makes sense that the youngest dies because kids don’t understand consequences when they’re that young. A couple of months being quiet is not enough for a 4yr old to adjust. He’s at the back because they have another kid that’s sick and they want him home as quickly as possible because what if he has a coughing fit or his condition gets worse? Beau is the slowest walker because he has small legs. Regan feels bad for him feeling trapped and gives him the rocket without batteries because he said he wanted one so the family could “get away”. As a deaf person she has less of an idea what causes sounds. She might think her parents would hear him trying to put the batteries in if he did grab them. There’s so many reasons for why the death happened the way it did. It’s heartbreaking because it could have been prevented but also because it’s how most people would have acted in that situation.
