the reason why people claim that she's a bad singer is that they're comparing her to singers like ariana and demi. but the issue with that is that all 3 have different singing styles. ariana has a powerful and smooth voice, demi has a powerful strong voice, and selena has a soft and smooth voice. they can't be compared because their voices are nowhere near the same. in the past few years selena has actually improved a bunch in her singing. she's not powerful but her tone is great. not all good singers have loud belting voices.

.....don't do all that. no one is actually comparing her to singers of different ranges, she simply can't sing. it's not about hitting high notes it's about hitting notes lmao she has a few 'good' performances (?) but her good is the least impressive of every other musician. I like to compare her with lana del rey who also has a 'whisper' kind of tone and has rly bad live performances in the beginning of her career. while lana had grownth and learned how to deal with her voice, selena has barely made any progress being 14 yrs into this industry. she very clearly doesn't take her career srly enough and gets by with her good looks. there are a lot of singers with smooth low voices who can actually sing, selena is not one of them!

One of my favourite things about this cover is that Selena didn't change the originally pronouns in the song. Some people change the pronouns to better fit them (a guy singing about a girl, then a girl singing the cover and changing she/her to he/him or vise versa) and though it may be a preference to them, I like it better when they leave it how it was originally.

No need of a high note to sing properly. the reason why people claim that she's a bad singer is that they're comparing her to singers like ariana and demi. but the issue with that is that all 3 have different singing styles. ariana has a powerful and smooth voice, demi has a powerful strong voice, and selena has a soft and smooth voice. they can't be compared because their voices are nowhere near the same. in the past few years selena has actually improved a bunch in her singing. she's not powerful but her tone is great. not all good singers have loud belting voices.
.....don't do all that. no one is actually comparing her to singers of different ranges, she simply can't sing. it's not about hitting high notes it's about hitting notes lmao she has a few 'good' performances (?) but her good is the least impressive of every other musician. One of my favourite things about this cover is that Selena didn't change the originally pronouns in the song. Some people change the pronouns to better fit them (a guy singing about a girl, then a girl singing the cover and changing she/her to he/him or vise versa) and though it may be a preference to them, I like it better when they leave it how it was originally.

Her voice sucks, nothing to do with power or not. That are a lot of artists who don’t belt but are still decent. Her tonality sucks, rhythm and she sounds So of out tune. Beautiful with a beautiful soul but whoever encouraged her to pursue singing needs to own up and be honest.
It’s not about belting or hitting high notes, her voice is pitchy literally every second and she tries to cover it up with a soft, airy tone when it’s pretty clear she’s not on tune
My main problem with her is the volume is not a stylistic choice, someone like Billie Eilish does that stylistically, Selena very clearly has very little control over her voice or her breath

I'm not a Selena hater and she isn't a BAD singer. But I'm creeping up to 30 and I have no clue when/how she got famous....and after watching this I sit here thinking, "I could sing that better." Lol. Sigh. I guess that's what being super pretty and dating Justin Bieber will do for you. But she seems like a genuinely good person too...I've watched a couple of her interviews.
