One thing you might want to include when using those spray max 2K cans is that once you pop that internal canister, you’ve got about 36 hours before that can is a brick. I know you used the Eastwood version, but it’s the same thing. There’s a company called Car Rep that has a 2K clear with “infinite” shelf life. It uses the moisture in the air to cure.
Does the car rep 2K have the nasty isocyanates like the Eastwoods and spraymax 2K ?
That's a good question.
@CP_FPV no it does not.
I’m pretty sure he knows
@@buddyrebel_Garcia I know Brian knows. I simply suggested he point that out so viewers understand
I really like that you're straight up about not even doing this on a 5-6 year. Honesty that this isn't a perfect looking or permanent repair is really good to see.
Took long, lots of work ....
I want to thank you for all the videos you put out. Your detailed videos gave me the confidence to tackle my 95 mustang this winter. I had lots of little areas of scratches, chips and even where some A-hole keyed my fender. Your suggestions led to paint job I can live with.
Hi Brian, that was so helpful, I really appreciate why blending the clearcoat is so important to a near invisible repair ! Blessings from the U.K. my friend! 🇬🇧
I have a 2008 Honda Accord that I'm doing now but I have to wait for warmer weather. My garage isn't heated. Thank you for making this video!!!!!!!
You can do it!
You are definitely a maestro sir, paint guns and rattle cans. Maestro. Perfecto!
Awesome work as always Brian I'm so glad there are guys like you showing these simple repairs and explaining where they have a value and place in are industry as a mobile painter we get a lot of negative comments about are work methods alot of ppl just don't understand value comes in many forms some ppl value high quality top notch repairs and other ppl value fast convenient and affordable repairs even if there not the best. as there are lots of cars out there that need some work but it just doesn't make sense to spend a lot on them your videos are great at showing ppl there are alternatives that may be just what they need.
Excellent job and advice. I will try that on my Merc. Marquis. I have the same front chipping.
Enjoyed this one Brian. 👌
Great tutorial video and very informative. Thanks for sharing
another great video ❤
Thanks! I really hope you can show us the stone chip repair technique on recent vehicule.
Thank you so much for this video
Totally true what you esplain..there are diferent ways..maybe there are..but it works for me and for you...awesome explain..the new painters laugh at me...but they will reminding of my and your works...
Amazing Brian.
My 2009 Vibe GT was repainted. I’ve had to touch up my hood about 100 times. Looks great in bad lighting decent in daylight. Would love to learn minor dent repair.
Helpful video, are you going to do a review using the apollo P6 I see on the bench, I saw the last review with the p5
Love the notes at the end! Is there any way we could get some counseling on repairs? For example I have some road rash on the side skirts and I'm not sure how to address that.
I'm trying this!!
Great video! Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice. Does look good.
Can you make a video breakdown of selecting primers/base coat/clear coats for a project? Like what keywords to look for, and what to ignore (i.e. urethane primer, dtm sealers / high solids clear / "euro" clear / etc)
I really like the UV filler idea, but haven't been able to find it around, just online.
Nice vid, as usual! Could you tell us approx what rpm you’re using on the rotary?
Great video! Just bought a 2022 Chevy Malibu that had only 43,000 miles on it. There are some chips in the paint on the bumper, which aren't horrible, but they bother me. What would you suggest that I do to get them removed since my car isn't that old?
Outstanding video for my 2011 RAV4 with 190,000 miles on it and a few chips that I can't stand. The chips are in areas that can't be isolated to one body panel - I want to fix one of the front pillars, not the whole roof that it's welded to. And most painting videos give advice to paint an entire section that *can* be isolated. Thanks for this video!
Awesome!!!
Thank you!
Brian, you da man! Love the videos. Question for you, would this work with metallic paint that has those tiny flakes (light beige color)? I'm trying to do this on a range rover that has overall good paint but want to get it in a nice enough stage to be able to sell it. doable or better to go to a pro?
Brian what electric orbital sander did you use?
Looks great. Just a lil work
Hey Brian just I have a question.Going to paint my 2011 Silverado and I’ve taken some spots to the metal and filled the dents with filler and sanded them out.Rest of the paint is in good condition but just old and dingy.Question is do I just use like a 600 grit and knock the clear coat off and then paint or do I need to primer the whole truck.Any info would be greatly appreciated?Love the channel.
Brian, what would you do for spot surface rust that's part of a larger area being painted? I live in Hawaii. If I don't cover the sanded metal area with primer right away the rust will come right back. It's a smaller spot and part of a larger area that's not ready for primer yet. Is there a special spray to just stop the rust & treat the area until I have a day, no wind or rain, to finish the rest of the job? This is with rattle cans. Mahalo Nui Loa
thanks
Extremely good video!!!
Yoooo. Ty my friend. It was fun!
@@PaintSociety watching you sand a blend edge of clear coat made my hairs stick up, but then I saw the final result and was like ok NICE 👏
Nice 👍
Was that the Bauer long throw polisher?
That csi works really well, but it loves a brand new damp wool pad. No further polishing needed once it heats up
Nice technique sir. How does that blend look in the sun
Hi brian. Just a quick question. Can you please tell me how long does it take to paint a full car normally? Thank you.
i have a 2008 bmw 328xi and the roof paint is cooked from arizona UV so i’m going to try this way to at least make it look better
Bought 2 oz jar of Grand Prix white for my 1982 911. The paint is too thick. Any recommendations for where to get small quantities of reducer to thin it?
Not bad good for small touch ups
Nice.
Do you have a video on repainting an old roof top that is starting to show rust? It’s my 2007 Ford F-150, and I’d like to do my own repaint job to it, because I’m not worried about it being perfect, I just don’t want it to completely rust on me.
Hello Brian, Do you do video chat consultations Thanks
That was awesome! I just picked up a daily driver Scion that needs the hood and roof re-cleared. The clear has fogged and looks dry but isn’t chipping or cracking, I’m gonna try scuffing and spraying it with 2k clear. Any tips?
Scuff with 600 grit. Clean it well and then spray.
Dumb question but what do I do if it is a newer car? I've got stone chips on the bonnet of a white Mazda6. I've heard the Mazda white colours are nightmares for repair. Do you recommend forking out the extra cash for a professional respray/blend? Cheers.
How long can you keep the clear coat can after the bladder has been popped?
i have a question why does sometimes basecoat have patterns after 3-4 days thats being painted. the patterns look like lets say you clean a wet panel with the rag and the texturw of the rag is left when you do that. now thats what i see on a freshly painted panel and i want to know why that happens
Excellent work and lesson. I am curious on a couple things. I see you using the eastwood 2k clear when you are doing aerosol work. Have you used the spray max 2k glamour before? Thats what i currently am using and am curious if the Eastwood is better or the same. The other question is what was the electric DA you used when you blended with the 1500? Thank you for your time and like maby others , i appreciate your excellent work and clear description with all your videos. It has certainly helped me take my work to the next level.
Its the same thing honestly. The electric da sander is the same 3M one i use. Over $500 though
yeah start with rotary then finish it with rotary, sandit with machine, such a DIY :D how mucch cost to have those tools? 2k usd?
I might have missed it.., but did you do any “wet color sanding”, after the spray painting, and before the clear coat..? Looks great..! Thank you.
No. Not needed
@@PaintSociety ahh copy that, thank you.
What electric da sander were you using?
All that work for a couple of spots. I would have taken the easy way and just painted the spots and clear coated it. But nice job and very well explained. Nice garage too. That helps.
What’s the durability on this? I need to paint a trim on my mirror, don’t wanna whip out my gun for a 7” trim piece
What do you think about using jb weld to fill in those pits?
I wouldnt.
The lower (lowest) part of my front bumper has 1,000 rock chips. Can you show us an easy way to fix this kinda problem? Love the channel Brain
Then paint the full bumper
Wouldn't you want to use upol blend 9 on the edge of your new paint to old paint? I am just curious 🤔
Same here but I think maybe it's not always necessary
No problem to use a DA polisher to wet sand. Much safer for people than that rotary killer.
Yeah- even a 3” rotary. Rotary is best for large, open areas (and a lot of paint to cut-down).
I just did this on my Nissan Frontier! It has defective paint so i just keep touching it up like this until i can sand it to metal and fix it.
Nice! I will definitely use this on my racecar…not on my new car! 🤣🤣🤣
Thank goodness for this- I hit a pedestrian and fled the scene, and now I need to change my paint color immediately. The cops are looking for a blue car so I am going to paint mine white using your tips. Thanks!
😜
Been there brother been there, he do a windshield replacement tutorial? *asking for a friend* 😬
Do you ever you Car-rep 2k primer ? It doesn’t have a shelf life
I would recommend eye protection when using that UV light bro
I used the same Honda paint but it won't really spray. It gave big drops!
yoiu should do a respray series on respraying your accord
Its in the works. Its coming up next
@paintsociety can i do exactly as you did here but with body filler, not uv filler?
It will require primer
Nice job, that Colac is never available on Amazon unfortunately
Probably only in the states
Nice acura tl type s. Is it a 6 speed manual?
Yes. Fully restored
@PaintSociety nice those cars are very cherished. As well great job on the hood 👏
Great job, Benny Safdie, but be aware that with a repair like this you REALLY need to have the same base color, which is very hard not to notice
Didnt you use primer first?
Hey Brian, I am a big fan of your work and practice, but I would ask you personally if you could teach us how to remove runs locally without a buffer/ machine on fresh paint (after 24h of painting I mean)
You will need to sand and polish and sometimes repaint
another great video.Enjoyed this one Brian
After how long of painting a vehicle can you put a ceramic coating on it or sealant
60 days
I did not see the polisher you used in your list. The random orbital one that you said had enough RPM to polish out the 3000 grit sand paper scratches. What do you recomend that wont break the bank. Im doing a 1 time surface rust repair to the roof of my 2001 dodge dakota.
Hi. Check the description as I just added it.
@@PaintSociety Thank you!
Bryan, can this putty go onto bare metal?
Yes
Good content.. but paint all the spots it need if it's a reliable ride it's worth it
Is it okay to sand so much clear coat for such a small repair?
Its only 2000 grit so no biggie
Even those aerosol 2k clears have isocyanates. Using them without a respirator is asking for lung damage - cell mutation. I don’t have to tell you what that leads to.
Is that an electric sander? Can you please share the model
Its over $500 so i didnt share info because its a bit pricey. Still want?
@@PaintSociety , if that is the one that you'll recommend please share the model , or anything else that you think it might be good to sand a complete vehicle, I been watching your videos and I'm planing to try paint my son car , he had an accident the car is put back together with parts on different colors I'm planning on painting it solid black or great , also planning working on my work truck , so I think I can give the tool some use , thanks for all the info in the videos 👍. Keep them coming
Great repair! Why does every know-it-all on the interwebs say you can't apply a 2k product over a 1k product? Why does that logic not apply in this instance? Thank you!!
All basecoat is 1k
@@PaintSocietyI meant some folks say not to use a catalyzed product over an "air-dried" product. Is that not the case? Thank you sir. Love the videos.
@@powers6963 all basecoats air dry. Youll be fine
I did this and the cloudiness doesn't go away with Maguiars polish
👍 🏎
Doest this page have a Facebook group?
Yesp
@PaintSociety the name please. Also I bought the sander you recommended. Where can I get cheaper paper
👍🏽
If my car was that bad I wouldn't touch it. I would do this on a newer car before I would a beater like that but if I was going that far I would probably just paint the whole hood.
You make it look so easy, but i know it's not, don't ask me why 🙂
Oh man, wish I would have watched the full video. I just repainted my 2023 hood. 😢
I just repainted several different spots all over my Ferrari F40
Y the sun visors? Cars inside 😂
Bro, come on you had to redo it. Don’t lie to your viewers just man up and say that you had to redo it because the first time you cleared it you went too far with the Clear. Good work on everything else by the way you are awesome.
😂
Why do you say that he had to re do it?
He will eventually repaint the whole car. This is just a temporary spot repair . I don't think you watched the whole video , he explained IT'S TEMPORARY.
Totally excessive sanding before paint 😂😂😂
He should have used a paint compound first, then polish, then wax.
Never wax new paint. Bad tip
@PaintSociety didn't you hear him? It wasn't new paint, it was old paint. With old paint - faded paint, you compound, polish, and then wax. Fact.
@@LoveFishing51 fact!
@@PaintSociety Newbie and a little lost here. Why don't you wax new paint (say a new car - "wash and wax"). Secondly, some youtubers, rightly or wrongly, appear to use compounding instead of finer sandpaper stages (followed by polish then wax).
I like watching your videos but I've been painting for 30 years if you put videos up at least show the mistakes, you had it taped to tight the first time,if you're trying to teach diyers show the true repair
Can you please explain to me the mistake so that I don't repeat it
??? Not sure what the mistake was here
I was watching your video and cooking dinner and I thought when you blended the clear you sprayed to the edge of your tape, I should have kept my mouth shut and rewatched the video sorry man even though I do this for a living I still enjoy watching all of y'all's videos, like I said I'm sorry I should have kept my mouth shut!
If you're going to fix it you should tell people to to prevent this put down some PPF it does work I just removing my PPF right now so I can redo it It's like an invisible bra
