Agreed. Many lesser known games have amazing music. Just take Ace Combat for example.
So many of these compilation lists focus on the well known composers and have tracks that are twice as long as necessary. So many smaller titles have fantastic music from composers working hard to practice their art in an industry hard to break into. While some of my favorites weren’t here due to the one track per composer/series rule, I found new favorites.
Gotta say, this compilation is exactly the sort of thing I look for when I'm browsing for video game music compilations. The one per franchise/composer rule made this list so much more diverse and interesting than so many on here. A couple of picks weren't my personal favourites for each compsoser/franchise, but there were many more times I thought "Hell yeah, great taste" or just wasn't familiar with the song so I had something new to enjoy. I really hope you make some more compilations along this line in the future!

I was so excited to hear Primrose, The Dancer play on here. I listened through Octopath Traveler and felt this was the best track of them all, too. Great list!

For David Wise, the theme of 2010's Donkey Kong Country Returns is based on the theme he composed for 1994's Donkey Kong Country (itself based on the original 1981 DK theme composed by Yukio Kaneoka). I love the Trine games and often listen to the OST on spotify! I haven't met anyone else who has played it besides the two people I played it with. Wonderful puzzle-playformer that you can play co-op campaign with 2 other people. You can play singlplayer or with only 2 players too. Highly recommend if you like puzzle games.

It's odd, so many of these first 10songs seem 15% sped up. But I guess that's just the natural video game speed rush. Finished listening, glad you have most of my favorites in there, and I heard a many more new ones from Anime games I haven't played before. Would of liked an Endless Space2 in there, or at least the endless legend, and Oblivion over skyrim. my Favorites you included: Divinity2, halo, Warcraft2, Dark Alliance I, Fable, Shadow Colossus, wicther3, days gone, age of mythology. It's important to credit the artists, but it doesn't help maintain a video up since it is not them who take it down, but the publishers and copyright owners.

Everything that I quickly remembered from music about games is not in your TOP, although I think that without them it would be a bad list. for example no: Silent Hill - Promise, Red Alert 1,2 - Hell march, Final Fantasy 7 - one winged angel, GTA 3, 4, 5 - intro, NFS underground 1, 2 - all soundtrack. And there is still decent music that may not reach the TOP: Loaded - Level 2 Theme. Unreal Tournament - Foregone Destruction. RoboCop 3 - intro.

I absolutely love all the music I've included in this list. There are themes here with which I experienced my greatest in-game moments, giving me chills (Ghost of Tsushima), tears (Brothers), epicness (Halo), wonder (Journey), childhood memories (Tomb Raider, Warcraft II)... But, of all the games I haven't played, I don't think there's one with a theme that gives me chills like the Grandia one! Truly beautiful indeed

Bit weird to have 2B in the Thumbnail but no music from Nier Automata (Only a track from the 2010 Nier)
I understand. I chose to avoid having two games of the same franchise in this list and kept this breathtaking track "Shadowlord" from the first NieR. But the soundtrack of NieR:Automata is truly one the best in the history of video game music, and one of my personal favorites. So, I wanted to pay tribute to it. Likewise, there is Guile on the thumbnail but no Guile's theme: another tribute, here to one of the greatest themes and to its composer Yoko Shimomura, even though it's Vega's theme from Street Fighter V which I included. Anyway, thank you for noticing

@@Zerinth Thanks! Honestly, I created this list because I was never satisfied with the other top 100: they always have many tracks from a few franchises like FF or Zelda. However, when you have in-depth knowledge of the VGM field, you know that there are too many S-tier soundtracks not to include as many different franchises and composers as possible. Without this self-imposed rule, my video would be just another top 100, and I wanted it to be more than that.

Outward indeed has a great soundtrack ("Sorobor Academy" my fav). About NieR vs NieR:Automata, let's agree to disagree, but for me it's not that important considering both have absolutely stunning soundtracks. The absence of Koichi Sugiyama is honestly one of the biggest misses on my list, and you do well to point that out (the symphonic version of "Adventure" in Dragon Quest XI S would have been so nice here).

I can understand you'd wanted the full versions, but I preferred to shorten the tracks for several reasons: - To be different from other top 100. - To have better performance on YT (fewer people would have clicked and fully watched a 5-hour video) - Going straight to the greatness of the composition is a way to better highlight it (for example, no need for 7'19 of Ace Combat 6 "The Liberation of Gracemeria", so I made a 1'26 version) - To respect people's limited time. - To have S-tier music at any time of the video. - To keep a good pace and avoid any weariness or boredom.

Deltarune is composed by Toby Fox and I prefer "Megalovania" from Undertale; "Bramble Blast" is from Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and I prefer the main theme of DK Country Returns. Ark and Destiny 2 featured many tracks that I really love. But in this list, I didn't want to have twice the same composer, and I already have a composition by Gareth Coker (Ori) and one by Michael Salvatori (Halo). There are too many awesome game composers to have one more than once, like other game music charts.

I have to disagree with picked AC game. AC 4 song is just like some pirate theme. While AC 2 Jesper Kyd - Ezio's Family is pretty much established the THE Brand song for whole AC series.
Indeed, the theme composed by J. Kyd for AC2 is so great and a real classic in the franchise. That's why I hesitate to keep it for this video, and finally I follow my personal taste: I really love this AC4 theme (and many compositions of Brian Tyler BTW)!

So, I didn't want to have the same franchise or composer twice, and I chose "Scars of Time" from Chrono Cross. But the soundtrack of Chrono Trigger is awesome (Frog's Theme is one of my favorite tracks, along with Peaceful Days, Wind Scene, Singing Mountain)
