They’re one of the many things that make South Florida so unique - and a bit of a legend among locals. Dozens of vervet monkeys, living less than a mile from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
I’m sorry but that woman trying to save an invasive species is crazy
Humans are the invasive species! And who brought them here in the first place?
Need to remove these same as imported snakes.
They can destroy the nesting birds nests, eat their chicks, and eggs
Yes protect the invasive species, nothing could go wrong. Smh thought university students were supposed to be smarter
They can’t get rid of all of them anyway, they waited too long for that
They have been there since the 1940s having escaped a lab. Curious what the current population is. Sterilization is possible. Again, I have no idea of current population size
They are some of the least smartest.
Dr. Williams needs to quit having surgery on her face
1:59 does she think that there are no stores in Africa?
Right i has to look it ip theres over 400 walmarts in africa lol
@@bullychug9883 I've never seen one but there are definitely alternatives
@@judemitchell9410 you right they dont go by walmart they acquired majority stake in a retail group that has stores throughout African
Was wondering the same thing, ignorance is laughable
Wait until she sees that there’s cities in Africa that look just like New York an Las Vegas 😂😂
Time for someone to go hunting
If u even dare to harm those creatures I'll h-nt u my self and hìdë ur body in those mangroves....dont u ever make a threat like that
And watch u commit a crime.
I'm ready!
The monkey's here and Silver Springs need to go. Why is there a bounty on pythons and not these pests?
Same reason they don't have one for pesky humans maybe?
@@CharGC123 How you feel about yourself has no bearing on whether or not this invasive species should be here.
Guess what they aren’t on the protective species they about to be wiped out!
Only monkeys I know live in tamarind ave I didn’t know we had monkeys
So your from tamarind ave
I know it’s hard to hear, but eventually the population of these monkeys will get ridiculously out of control and trying to cohabitate with these monkeys will become harmful for humans. At some point professional hunters will have to come in to help limit or ELIMINATE the monkey population all throughout Florida.
Where And How ?
If they are in close proximity to peoples homes and they run out of food in the area they live and humans don't feed them they will take to breaking in to peoples homes for food. They destroy farmland in their native country and are considered pests. If there's no control over their population all I can say is good luck South Florida residents.
Monkey hunting time!!!
I know. WTF. they're trying to rid of pythons and other non-native animals, now monkeys. They do not belong here. They will break in to peoples homes, crap everywhere, and carry diseas. I cannot believe that this is allowed here in the states.
Brave girl at 0:55 to wade thru south florida waters wearing a pair of shorts.
They are left overs from when they made the original Tarzan episodes
The Macaques are the species you're referring to. Not this species. They're located in Silver Springs Park.
@Trigga Trevor You're both wrong. The monkeys at Silver Springs were introduced decades ago by a local riverboat captain in hopes of enhancing business/tourism. Regardless, they do not belong here, and like the python, need to go.
I love all wildlife, and it seems as if the population of these non native monkeys has not increased too much, but as with so many other invasive species; feral pigs, pythons, lion fish, etc, there is always a change to the native animal, fish, plants and other species of wildlife. Do you keep data or have research published to show the effect and impact of these monkeys? Would you be open to removing them, if the data and research shows a negative impact from them being here? Peace.
I hope you are going to visit the Vervet Foundation in South Africa. They rehab little monkeys and protect them from the pet market and well meaning ( or not) people who attempt to humanize these little( sometimes not so little) Monkeys. More often then not these animals are abandoned when they become sexually mature, ( they are not good Pets) and suffer greatly in the wild. Pet monkeys taught to wear diapers, baby clothes and to eat with a fork have no skills for wilderness survival. They die, frightened and alone, of starvation or worse.
Do they have Herpes ?
Do you? If so, please stay away from them. We would not want them to catch it from you
@@storkandsheep My understanding is that you gave it to your man and his friends "rawdogging" it facedown AZ zz up!!!!!.....that brown puddle you standing in and all the tissue paper on the ground...everyone know it's not oil.
@@storkandsheep LOL!!!!!!
@@kidsstudynow6901 wow are you disgusting
Aren’t these green monkeys?
I love animals, it seems like the monkeys need to be moved to a less populated area for their own safety and to prevent conflict with people 🐒
They need to be exterminated
No they should be euthanized.
What an ignorant comment at so many levels.
Alaska want Penguins
I love all animals. Let’s protect Gods creatures humans included 😊
How did they get here?
from the zoo when a hurricane hit Florida years ago
@@Xtraxc mostly due to being left on an island because people thought they couldn't swim now this is the results
They came here on their own, of course.
They escaped from a zoo back in 1940

Don't say stuff like that about Africa, get there and see the changes
Leave these monkeys alone please please don’t hurt them after they have adapted to live in the new environment and are beautiful creatures even if they have herpes no one has got it from a monkey so please leave them be ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Have y'all not learned from the Iguanas Pythons and other invasive species roaming Florida as of now? These monkeys need to be eradicated.
It makes sense they'd use the leopard call for dogs and the snake for turtles. For one, they're from Africa and a part of it where they don't see dogs and dogs aren't a natural predator of them. They just use generic calls or whatever. That's my explanation. Aren't they from jungles or whatever? African wild dogs(nor domesticated) I believe don't so much inhabit them.
