He was able to be loved until his sunset. How wonderful for him and for Jess to give him that gift.

Thank you!!!!!
This beautiful animal got to spend the last few months of his life in a dignified and loving manner. He passed surrounded by affection and care. It is a wonderful story. Thanks for making this old boy's last few months worth living.
Thank you for giving this beloved 4-legged love and dignity.❤️✝️ RIP Mr. Whiskers 🙏🐱💔🌈
My adult son rescued a cat from a shelter who only had a few more months to live. Tom said the cat's last months didn't belong in a shelter and adopted him. He took the cat to the vet and got medical treatments. That was several years ago, and this cat is now healthy and ruling Tom's home, heart and the world. Hehe - it also chases dogs.
@Tenneseeana... That is one of the most inspiring stories I've read in a long time. Thank your son, and thank you for posting it❤ Rose S
Sometimes Vets are wrong about how much time a cat or dog has. I was told by a Specialist my dog had at the most six months to live. She lived for another 2 yrs, 5 months. She had medication and she had an excellent quality of life. My Vet explained that he thought that she did not want to leave me - I had rescued her from an abusive home.
@@dina113eastAww that's so sweet. I'm so glad you rescued him. This is one case that I know you will see with and be with him in heaven❤.
@@rstrader2516 Yes those of us who love our dogs and cats will always be there for them and do everything we can for them.
@@dina113east Wow, That is profound. My Grandparents had a wonderful Christian marriage. They had raised 9 children, lived to see 21 grandchildren grow up. And had many great grandchildren. They had raised me to age 9 in a wonderful loving spiritual home. When I was 27, my grandma became very sick and was physically and I think the doctor felt she was ready to die. I flew to Indiana to say goodbye. So glad I did. But she lived 8 more years. I think she didn't want to leave my Grandpa. It gave him more time with her. Beautiful. She died at 90. He lived to 98 in a lovely retirement home. Rose S.
Don't know if the woman that saved Mr. Whiskers will read this or not, but thank you for saving the guy & giving him a dignified & loving ending. At the end of the day, that is what he will remember when he goes to where cats go after their time on this earth is over. Bless you.
Well said.
Agreed ❤️❤️
💯💯💯 she is absolute angel…
Well said! ❤
Rainbow Bridge, Mr. Whiskers will be waiting there.
No animal should be in a shelter at 17. Jessica, thank you for making his last months being loved and cared for.
No animal should be in a shelter at any age.
I adopted a cat ( siamese) at 10 yrs old, and a cat I have now at 12 yrs of age
I am glad she adopted him but I wish he would have lived longer. I would have been heartbroken 😭💔.
Totally agree with you. No furry family member should be in a shelter or on the street in their golden years.

You are so rite... There also protective angels for dogs and cats and all the creature of GOD.
I adopted a senior cat named Garth who was brought in at Christmas, to the SPCA in really rough shape. He'd had emergency surgery to remove his eye. I adopted him because he was senior at 10+ years maybe a little broken to look at and most people would pass him by and not adopt him so I did. He was such a chill cat and I thought he'd be a great emotional support cat for my high strung hot mess doggo who'd been abused in his last home. He was a perfect fit, they got a long great. I'd catch them snuggling and cleaning each other. When I took Garth to MY vet I was shocked to learn he had kidney failure. Not sure how this was missed with SPCA vet but it was what it was. His kidney failure was so advanced they gave him a year. 9 months is what we got. Both the doggo and I miss him... he had such great cat MOJO. When I brought him home from SPCA he spent an hour acclimating before he knocked down the baby gate separating him and the puppers and just swaggered in like He'd had always been there. I don't regret adopting him. I don't regret the money I spent on him medically. My only regret is I couldn't give him more time living his best life. Senior animals with health issues or missing parts are often overlooked. Don't dismiss them, adopt them. They might just be the best thing you've ever done not just for their life... but for yours. ❤🐈❤🐕❤👩🦳
Thanks for that lovely post.
You're an angel. Thank you.
"... maybe a little broken to look at." That really moved me.❤
You are an angel. I loved your story and the fact you did.whatever it takes to help Garth …if you haven’t loved a cat or dog you haven’t lived…
One day I hope to have a home of my own to welcome senior, health issues, and/or disabled cats. I currently live with my parents and 16 cats and one cat-loving dog. One cat is FeLV positive, one has digestive issues, two have chronic sinus infections, one has human anxiety issues (even though he was born and raised in our house), and two have asthma. Mom’s a retired nurse, so as much she complains about their experiments with gravity and the tensile toughness of furniture fabrics, I think she enjoys “nursing” them. All, but three of them, came in the house as feral kittens. Eleven of those kittens were sickly, while the asthmatic two lost their mom just as she was weaning them. She died protecting them from a feral pack of dogs. The only cat to come in as an adult was a feral kitten that survived two different packs of dogs attacking our feral cat colony. As she warmed up to mom (the food lady), mom noticed she had a respiratory infection. Mom took her to the vet only to find out she was pregnant. She had three kittens, but one only lived a couple days. Those two kittens have never known life outside the house. Their momma is the only adult cat we’ve rescued.
You gave him 5 months of love and care, He knew he was loved, i could tell by his expression, thank you for loving him 🙏😺

Wow, you’re an Angel. Your let your heart break in order to show cats they’re loved in their final days. That’s so beautiful and pure
I was given an ill elderly orange cat by a shelter, took him to the vet, gave him medicine cleaned him and removed all his fleas, He had a color which said he was a female named "Trouble". When he became well, my vet said he was over 15 years old and a male Maine Coon Cat. He lived 10 years with me and was the most loving, smart cat. I still miss him. He passed away from kidney failure.
Thank for caring for "Trouble". Looks like she repaid you with love.

People like this lady is why the society is still surviving despite all the terrible things happening. Thank you so much for saving Mr Whiskers and thank you for existing.
This is probably the best statement I have ever read. Imagine what society would be if everybody was like this woman.
Yes. Best comment ever.
i often think that if a colony was formed by all the people who watched this and had similar passions and perhaps shed at least a tiny tear-what an awesome group that would be !
There’s always good people out there like this woman. Never forget that.
I’m not crying, you’re crying. This story is so beautiful and heartwarming. It makes my day to know a senior cat with health problems was living his best life, safe, loved and properly cared for at the end of journey.
Thank you for giving him a happy last 5 months rather than passing away in a shelter. May your acts of kindness be returned to you a thousandfold. ❤
I have no idea why someone would abandon their cat. It's like leaving a child somewhere . This woman is wonderful.
I know one reason why a person might give up their cats to a rescue group, having their health (me the human, cats were fine) crash long term because of autoimmune disease, endocrine disease, and mitochondrial disease, and neurological autoimmune disease, and as a result of all that becoming homeless like happened to me in the 1990s.
@@scottfw7169 That's a damn good reason. Hope you're ok now.
@@scc6454 Thanks mate. Am not exactly okay, working days are well done and over with and I've been on disability for something like 16 years now. But on the up side, the two orange tabby rescue fellows sharing my home turn 15 and 14 this year and the elder one has been mine since juvenile age and the younger one since kitten age. Elder one is disabled himself after getting hit on a rural highway, which led to his rescue. Unknown whether misshapen back foot is damage or birth defect. But he still chases me and younger one and jumps on furniture and bed. sometimes the two boys snuggle, sometimes they squabble, all the time they add much to life and home. 😺😸
People leave their children all the time, it isn't unusual at all. There are good people however who make up for the mess left by others
Sometimes escalating costs are a factor. People can no longer afford to feed more than one or two.
Thank you for your kindness!❤ #MrWhiskers!🙏
Thank you for caring for him. I hope you read these lovely messages so you’ll know what your kindness also means to all of us.
THANK YOU for giving Mr. Whiskers and other kitties a loving home! More people like you are needed in this world! ❤
This made me cry. I can't imagine giving up a cat who was 17 years old just because he had a disease. What must the cat think? What did I do wrong? Why am I here? Where are my humans? Given that there are vaccines to prevent these diseases it is so sad that people don't bother to get their animals vaccinated and spay/neutered. RIP Mr. Whiskers. And thank you to this young lady who saved you from loneliness in your last days.
You don't know the history of this cat and it's former owner(s). It's easy to think they must have been douchebags.
@@Daan_KnobboutWell, he was in a shelter, so that tells you they either couldn't afford the med's or they ARE douchebags.
The cat doesn’t think anything because animals brains don’t work like ours I wish you clowns would understand that
@mikeyb6021 sweetie...it appears your brain functions below the average person. You also lack empathy. It must be hard for you.
Maybe it was someone who couldn't afford the expensive vet bills, or recently lost their job or home. Not all people who bring their pet to a shelter are cruel unloving people. The only people for sure are unloving people are those that abandon their pets, hoard, pet mills and/or are rescue by the pet police.

I've said it before about other videos. Every one of your furbabies that you keep are yours forever. They go where we go, into a beautiful place with green grass, flowers of all colors, crystal clear water, shade from the trees, just beautiful. Saw one of my horses and one kitty there. I was told that every animal I keep and don't sell or give away are mine forever. If they are strayed, stolen, taken, they are still ours. I was told ALL my furbabies are there and young again. They are waiting for me when I go beyond the veil. They play, run, have fun and are taken good care of. When we pass, they are told and they come running to us and there are 💋 and ❤️ as they remember us. Never will we part, but be together forever and no more goodbyes. Just like FAMILIES CAN BE TOGETHER FOREVER, SO ARE THE FURBABIES WITH US FOREVER.I just saw 2 but they were full grown but young again. I have seen my mother, my sister, and my uncle.Your MR. WHISKERS will remember you. He belongs to you FOREVER. There are millions upon millions of animals that no one wanted and you can have many more.
"We'll hang out again tomorrow." That did it. 😢 This woman is working for God, and Mr. Whiskers is there knowing they'll hang out again tomorrow. ❤
I've adopted 2 senior cats and they're the best. The lack of time you have with them is more than made up for by the sheer love and affection you get from them. Knowing you made their final years their best is so rewarding.
I really hope one day I will have the courage to do this. To pay it forward for all the love I've been given by my fur angels.
😢Thank you for loving this special adorable Mr. Whiskers. God bless you both.🙏🏼🐈
The world needs more people like this lady. I don't know if she will ever see this, but thank you so much for giving Mr. Whiskers a beautiful final chapter to his life's book. I adopted the oldest cat my local shelter had. She was a sickly 15 year old cat that had been owner surrendered. I named her Hope and she gave me four of the best years of my life. I'd like to think that Hope and Mr. Whiskers are sharing a sunbeam on the other side of the bridge. Peace to all who take the time to read my comment.

I adopted an old Ginger Tom cat who had stomach cancer, wasn’t expected to live for very long. I just wanted to give him the best life I could. I had him for over 18 months! Broke my heart when the tumour became so big he could no longer eat and I had to say goodbye.

So grateful that Mr Whiskers had a loving home for his last months. Every animal deserves love and care for their whole life. It's heartbreaking as their human carers to have to say goodbye, but we cherish the happy moments we share with our fur-friends.
Thank you for giving him unconditional love. You're the best!
This is one of the most loving acts I've ever seen and brought me to tears. Thank you for rescuing Mr Whiskers and giving him a wonderful last 5 months of his life where he was properly cared for and loved. He looks so happy and contented with you.
I’m surprised that the shelter housed him with the other cats considering he had felv and it being very contagious.
I've had three very elderly cats now who lived to 19, 20, and 21. They become so sweet and loving in their old age. The great reward of taking good care of your cat is that you get to hang out with an elderly cat. They're special.
What was their diet? I have now two kittens and one ginger senior cat I want them to live the longest.
@@mischapiru9514 The most important thing to remember is that it's about much more than diet. Keeping your cats indoors is number one. That can include a catio and leashed walks, but never let them roam free. (Getting them spayed and neutered is absolutely vital, and reduces their desire to roam.) Their life expectancy if they're outdoor cats is only 2 - 5 years! The outside world is full of too many dangers: cars, predators, fights with other cats, illness, infection, etc. Next, always give them regular vet checkups and shots. Cats seldom tell you they're sick until it's too late. Once they're seniors, do pay for regular blood work during their checkups. If you can afford to do it while they're younger too, go for it. This will alert you to any health problems, many of which can be successfully treated or managed, but only if they're caught in time. So, yes, give them a good, healthy diet (I'm hearing that wet is best, no filler, etc), but follow these other tips and you're more likely to have happy old cats.
I had 3 cats since they were kittens, all about 2 years apart. They lived till 21, 17 and 16. My vet said I had the fountain of youth at my house, lol. Ferris was the last, passing at 17, 2 yrs ago. I know have a senior Ginger, Penny, who is 10 and a rescue, Bella, who is now 5. She had to fend for herself, outdoors, after owners moved from condo and just left her outside! Manager left food for her outside. She was finally rescued with her 2nd litter of kittens after 2 yrs. I got her 2 yrs ago and now at 5 yrs she developed asthma. 😢. I give her inhaler twice a day. I love them both. 💕💕
@@gerbs747 Living like that is really hard on a cat (or on any being). I'm glad you've given her a home. When we adopted our two kittens, the rescue group said, "We wish we could find homes like yours for all of our cats." One of my cats (both five) has asthma. It acts up when we get forest fire smoke in the city, which happens pretty much every summer now.

i work in a large animal shelter & any type of domestic set up or home is better than shelter life. Shelter life is absolutely abysmal. Very stressful, limited affection, long periods without human contact. We do our best but we are always understaffed & have approx 2,500 dogs & 3,000 cats & kittens. It;s simply a terrible existence. It takes a certain type of person to keep turning up day after day & picking up poop everyday. Please keep this in mind if you come to any shelter & please consider the older animals. I promise you you will have a stronger bond with them & somehow they know they are being saved. Keep our furry friends safe & happy. Remember Dog spelt backwards is GOD.
You have the biggest heart in the world for giving these ill kitties a second chance. You are my hero. ❤
