  • Dimash is not competing. He is the guest entertainer. Now you are starting to realize all the different ways Dimash can sing. Now can you also understand why he was invited to join the famous opera in Astana? He truly can sound like 6 different people according to which songs he sings. His mother is a famous opera singer and he has had her input all of his life. He says if you cut his heart open music will pour out, if you cut open his brain and even his soul music will pour out. His teacher for most of his life is very famous in his part of the world, but sadly he died last year from Covid and Dimash was devastated. You said a piece like Olympico could be practiced for "even years". Read this please: The first work that Igor Krutoy and Liliya Vinogradova created for Dimash was the composition “Olimpico ” in Italian, written specifically for the Opening ceremony of the II European Games in Minsk in 2019. It was written in 2019. The European Games, the event here was in 2019. Not much time to practice. Igor Krutoy, a famous billionaire composer came out of retirement to work with Dimash saying he had never seen such a talent in his lifetime.

  • The song Olympico (which became known as Ogni Pietra) was composed by maestro Igor Krutoy, with Italian lyrics by Russian poet Lilia Vinogradova and arrangements by Erlan Bekchurin. It was composed specifically for Dimash for the 2019 European Olympic Games. With this song Dimash won, on December 5, 2019, the Victoria award (Russian equivalent of the Grammy) for best singer of the year, in the classical genre ("Best Vocalist in Classical Music").

  • At the end it was E6. Igor Krutoy wrote this song just for Dimash, it is not a cover. Many haters said before that he only does covers. Well...at age 17 he wrote himself "Unforgetable day" . I really want those haters to try and sing his songs. Dimash can sing almost any song in this world, but no one can sing at least one of his. Dimash sings live 99% of the time...there are some russian tv shows where they simply don't let him to sing live, they force him to do lip sync but you can easily notice that because he is so bad at faking. He doesn't need to fake it, he can do anything acapella and he already did many times on camera. No soundtrack no microphone nothing...just his voice. He really deserves everything that is happening to him because he worked so hard for 21 years to get here.

    • Late comment, but Dimash as well as being an insanely talented singer who doesnt need to lipsync is also a very skilled lip syncer. I personally never would have thought Stranger at new wave was lipsynced or Daybreak at Bastau were lipsynced but they were and theres proof out there if you do search. He sometimes also lipsyncs songs in his own concerts, which I can prove from a war and peace performance where he does the wrong sound by accident and the mouth shape is completely off. However, the main message of the comment is correct, although I would say 90% live instead, including some CRAZY performances.

  • I heard this particular piece for the first time just a couple of days ago and I literally can't stop listening to it! Dimash is the best singer and performer I have ever heard and actually I liked what you had to say in this video and agree with your comments, apart from the bit about him perhaps not having quite enough or as much air as he would have liked....I don't think that is the case. However, I am no expert but have studied singing and music in general so am not a complete novice. His vocal range is remarkable as is his control and ability to change register seemingly effortlessly each and every time he sings. Of course he spends a great deal of time perfecting his craft and toning up his instrument but he is other-worldly as far as I am concerned and no other singer comes close to his inate ability and musical prowess. His is the G.O.A.T. of this genre of the Performing Arts, exceptional talent and, by all accounts, a fine young chap to boot!

    • @@emelianemone777 yeah fo real, Im seeing many people who call ''dears'' themselves insulting and saying crazy stuff just because they don't accept anyone else oppinions and don't know the difference between an insult and oppinion, like wtf, Dimash learned from teachers and people who worried about him and his talents and humble personality, and the message he always has been giving us is to be humble, respectful and loving people throughout music and art: I never heard him saying ''Hi IM the BEST, IM PERFECT SO YOU HAVE TO BE LIKE ME'', of course he didn't sing Like how he sings now, because of teachers who educated him. I really don't want to know how some ''dears'' would react if we could watch some videos of dimash's teachers saying stuff like: hey, don't that, do it like this, your sound is weak here, you're losing your vibrato, fixe it and more (-.-). Its like my tastes, I really dont like Ariana Grande and her way of singing, to me she doesn't express anything while singing and performing but im not saying she's bad and has bad technic, and of course im not going on life saying stuff and humillating her and talk about that she's not talented in her own style.

    • @@emelianemone777 It is very clear that they are not professionally qualified to accurately critique Dimash. They can have a personal opinion and that is fair and very valid, but a professional critique of his skills from the standpoint of a teacher is not something they should attempt. Perhaps with many more years and experiences and exposure while fine tuning their ear will give them the ability to accurately give a valid critique. Otherwise, these are personal opinions and should not be considered educated evaluations of any reliable professional value. Yes, some dears were petty, but the delivery of the critique was cavalier enough to spark anger. That is valid too. No people should not be cruel, but they are people. I believe these two really do need to work on their knowledge and ear. It will help them in the future and perhaps take them further. A this level, they are doing their students a disservice. I do not think they are at a teaching level yet by any means.

    • @@Ali-cn1du Perhaps you should listen to what they say in this video with a cleared and open mind? This was an explanatory approach from them. They repeatedly said that different people use different tricks to reach the sound they aim for. The girl said that SHE PREFERED Dimash's lower register. That was expressed as a personal taste, not a criticism. About the microsecond moment in the end, I, who isn't trained, heard that the first time I listened to this song. I interpret it as a thing happened when he switched on the vibrato, and I know it happens frequently he starts a long note without vibrato and just flips it on, and continues the note longer than this, with full strength all the way through. No one is flawless, coming from the planet Tellus in the Milky Way, or from beyond the Andromeda Galaxy. As these two guys said here, and I totally agree with them, don't neglect or diminish all thousands of hours of work Dimash has spent on practice, not even he was born with that level of perfection. Remember that they acknowledged that (if that was a) mistake, it takes a true pro to fix it and just go on. Which most likely is the reason why we don't find any mistakes made. Dimash is a human being, he can't sing the same song EXACTLY IDENTICALLY each and every time, so unintentionally a tiny miss at one occasion becomes a natural variation. Dimash IS a SUPERIOR singer, so whatever minor flaw he makes, his ability to cover it proves his superiority.

  • Thank you for giving Dimash another shot. Very interesting discussion about falsetto vs head voice. From my understanding falsetto has less resonance, more forward placement, less vibrato (that’s why it’s called false tone or ‘falsetto’), while head voice is the opposite. However, I get what he said that sometimes the singer can give more power to falsetto, and that’s usually called reinforced falsetto. Dimash however can sing both in falsetto and pure head voice (mainly due to his vocal chord structure that allows him to sing in that unusual register for male).

  • Probably others have explained that Dimash certainly did not have years and probably not months to prepare to sing this song. Igor Krutoy is very famous in Europe. He has composed a lot of music for people like Laura Fabian. He was not involved with Dimash when he went viral in the weeks-long Chinese competition from which you watched SOS and saw his competitors reacting, etc. Krutoy came out of retirement when he realized what Dimash has to offer as a vocalist. So, he started composing for Dimash not long before this performance at an international athletic event. Thus, on one hand, Dimash could not have had a lot of time to practice this, but, on the other hand, Krutoy composed this to match Dimash's specific capabilities.

  • So I’ve spent hours watching Dimash videos/reaction videos and I somewhat enjoyed your critique. Not only do you give your feedback based on your experiences in singing but also from a place of seeking a better voice for your viewers who are on their journey to finding theirs. It hurts to say that Dimash is a human and can be prone to illness, performance pressure and vocal strain. The hardest thing for some viewers is that they want you to feel what Dimash is putting out; the emotion, the feeling and the ‘x-factor’. You guys are like scientists analysing and deconstructing what he’s doing from a technical point of view, like you’ve removed yourself from the emotion of his performance. Art is subjective and creates conversation beyond the work. That being said Dimash is the most consistent live singer I have heard in my 34 years on earth and I’m so lucky to be able to watch him as often on KZhead. I just hope I can go to his live show one day!

  • It`s really interesting, that every vocal coach or singer call the technique Dimash uses differently. So I think, that`s not really important or is a mysterium, how Dimash is able to do what he does. What really matters is the result. And this is phantastic! Dimash is a real phenomenon. Perhaps you noticed it as well. This particular performance is of course no competition, that would be really astonishing in that huge arena. It`s a performance. Dimash is a star in China, Russia and Kazakhstan of course. I hope he will be a star in Europe and USA as well. He deserves it.

  • Dimash himself is his own harshest critic. He’s a hardworking perfectionist. He is considered a prodigy by professionals all over the world, yet he’s one of the most humble and grateful singer you’ll ever see. No one is perfect, but you gotta have respect for his many years of hardwork & discipline. I think that’s why his fans get annoyed when people criticize him.

    • @Secretsongs20 Amen to that!! I totally agree! 👍🏻 Dimash is a perfectionist, and he sings with “intent “ with his vocal range. Many professional vocal coaches & classically trained singers, agree that the key to the last note was VERY high (even for a female singer!!). I come from a family of professional singers and musicians (my grandfather sang Opera, both my parents and relatives are professional singers and musicians for over 40 years. And I am one too). What Dimash has done, is absolutely bloody brilliant (in every sense of the word).

Most noticable is at the end of ACROSS ENDLESS DIMENSIONS.. it is from an italian sci-fi film "Creators-The Past" and was intended to feature three (3) vocalist because of the wide range.. but it only took one (1) DIMASH.. thanks for listening.. much love 💕

  • Thanks for checking Dimash out again. The comments were pretty rough for your last video so I give you credit for coming back with another reaction. How about trying Sinful Passion next? The different techniques he displays is quite mind blowing. It includes an amazing ethnic (trill?) ( there’s a lot of discussion on what Dimash is actually doing there, but it’s beautiful nonetheless). You’ll also see a good example of his unbelievable breath control (23 -25 seconds without taking a breath). The version from New Wave Sochi is on Dimash’s KZhead channel and has English subtitles. Unfortunately there’s a glitch in the video but the sound is good. The fancam version (by “Dimash 48”) from his Moscow concert is also a really great version.

  • Dimash does vibrato, then straight tone, then add vibrato back to that E6 many times in many versions of this song. so yes, it's intentional and he chose to do that style , I guess he wanted to show the control to be able to switch and change vocal technique in one note. Even in other songs, he does straight tone for a long time, then adds vibrato ( still has control to do it) at the end of that note, such as in Love Is Like A Dream song, he holds last note for 19 seconds with straight tones and then vibrato. Or in the "Sinful Passion", he changes and raised keys in the middle of the note , belting, keep belting, yes, flip to whistle with no problem and look so easy for him. Also 22 seconds of insane belting higher and higher , then riffs and runs down 2 times with all happened in ONE breath. He loves opera, classical ( many years training for male and female soprano), he loves pop ballad, rock element, rap, folk songs. He has Master degrees already, I believe it's a composition and vocal. He has degree in Jazz music as well, and doing his Doctorate degree at age 26 now.

  • Dimash like anyone can make mistakes, so a pitch variation can agree with that, but not having enough air. Think you find that air is something he doesn't struggle with. He commonly holds a straight note, then adds in the vibrato. If you watch "Sinful passions" there is one section where he sings for 25 seconds on one breath. And at the end of "Love is like a dream" the final note is about 17 seconds, that he holds straight then brings in the vibrato.

  • Thanks for your comments, that's grate to hear different professional opinions. My general question is may we classify Dimash's voice as normally human voices are classified? For someone having range of more than 6 octaves, may we apply the normal classification? My opinion is not. So we may only realize the pich or the notes he is producing. You need to watch a lot of his performances to get full understanding of his capabilities. For me, the reaction of anyone shows his personal understanding or emotional involvement. For me the most important is how he reaches people's souls with the vibrations he is producing, the power of the energy he is transmitting to us.

In an interview, Dimash stated that it’s 1% talent and 99% hard work! Dimash is a perfectionist and always seems to push himself to the limits to perfect his craft... yet remains very humble about his extraordinary talents which he has perfected over the years thru arduous work. Dimash is the sum of his natural talent, dedication, passion, and love for his craft. Dimash will continue to make mistakes when he sings because he’s only human and he is the first to recognize it! • Nice reaction! I saw how you both mentioned he might've lost his vibrato on accident, he actually does this in each version. He likes to start with vibrato, go to straight and end with a vibrato again. I honestly suggest looking at multiple live performances of certain songs like this, to see whether he intends to do so or not, it also shows how much he sometimes changes to song in a live setting; he loves to mix things up for the show every now and then ;). I honestly cant tell if he got a little flat with the straight tone, i personally tend to struggle noticing such small differences; especially that high up. But you may be right, but to be honest; i think it just shows how much of an performer he really is :)

He will often give us that roller coaster of phrasing for emotional emphasis....musically, no, but as for other mistakes, he forgot his words once, in NY, and everyone started singing for him, lol. It was hilarious and he was laughingly grateful. He came right out shrugged and said, 'forgot the words' -- I think I would too if I sang in more than ten languages within a single concert :D....I believe that concert is on YT.

  • Thank you for this reaction. I must say, you were walking into the lion's den on "SOS" and I doubt you were ready for us! LOL We Dears are quite passionate, but we are not all delusional. A true Dear recognizes that Dimash is human, and that is actually what makes his talent so incredible. My absolute favorite moments from him are the ones that humanize him and, I agree with you, it is a MONUMENTAL disservice to him as an artist to pretend that he doesn't have to work tirelessly at perfecting his craft as much as possible in order to minimize the millions of potential mistakes that can occur with the types of music he performs! The thing about that last note where you say he's running out of air and going flat... I'm struggling with that a bit because I've seen this performed several times now in various performances and that last note sounds the same every time. I'm not the world's best singer but I've been singing in performing my entire life, so I have a pretty decent ear. I suppose the only way to be 100% sure would be a vocal analysis by computer program but that has been my experience with this particular piece.

  • Did he just say " he went little flat"? Will your wife couldn't begin to get to THAT flat zone. I don't know what these people are talking about.

    • It doesn't take the ability to sing up there to notice if the pitch changes. It seems like you just want to insult us. Our acknowledgement of that last note bending in pitch ever so slightly was not an insult towards Dimash, it was an observation that we made because we've literally been there while trying to do exactly that. If you're just upset that we can hear whether or not something is in tune, then I'm not surprised you don't "know what we're talking about". 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @@ChaseandMelia with all due respect, classically trained here. And where did you learn that I was trying to insult you. Don't take it personal if you are the one making long statement that you are only being musically critical when you can't take any. I've heard this piece by Dimash in 3 different concerts and if you really wanna benefit singers out there, check his 3 performances and how intentional Dimash is doing high E. Straight tone to vibrato. Perfectly pitched and almost identical.

    • By the way, this song was specifcally written for Dimash by Russian famous composer Igor Krutoy.. He wrote several songs for Dimash. Check Dimash doing Diva Dance too. Olympic level of signing.

    • Melia stated in the video that singing straight tone to vibrato is a common technique used a lot of musical theatre. You say you’re classically trained, then you should be able to how he went a tiny bit flat in the final phrase. Our voice teachers were strict and never sugarcoated. It doesn’t help to be dishonest with students.

    • Singing low and high isn't what actually matters when it comes to singing. Dimash is absolutely incredible, but not simply because he can sing low to very high, this is a very simplistic way of looking at it.

  • Omg this was such a FANTASTIC video! I love how "picky" you are because as you said, it shows how extremely hard it really if for these amazing performers and how hard they have to work to get there. And I also love how you talked about both his strengths and his weaknesses or peculiarities. Fantastic reaction! Oh, and it was just SO COOL that you tried to sing that part... Please keep us updated on your progress! 🙏
