    • Hes from Sweeden and that whole area was Norse...he has also said in interviews he wanted to write or do a Viking movie. Plus hes the image we associate with Vikings and on a funnier side note.. He did get famous playing Eric the Viking in True Blood... 😁 I think hes perfect for this role. His brother played viking in Vikings too. Would have been super great if ALL the Skarsgards were in this.

    • @@bstech7888 Maybe in 'Vikings: Valhalla' gets renewed for a few seasons after season 1 they'll cast Bill as someone. Or maybe once either Netflix or DisneyPlus make a tv or movie series out of the 'Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard' book series (they're doing Percy Jackson and Kane Chronicles, we'll have to wait till both of those and the Heroes of Olympus series are done but they're as good as in the bag), he'll get cast (I just got an image of him playing Loki). Of course we don't know as what kind of a role might be available for him in 'Vikings Valhalla', right now I"m too busy worrying that they'll mention Olaf the Stout (he's confirmed to be portrayed in the show) but that they won't mention Tore Hund (which is ridiculous since he's the one who's supposed to have killed him).

For example it's not going to show the characters suddenly sail to another part of the world and have a totally different storyline, rather the story will be based on the particular region in this case Scandinavia, and have some interesting plotline.

  • I'm a Scandinavian ( Swedish citizenship, but Norwegian, Danish and Swedish Blood) and I've deeply studied this era since I was a teenager. What is really cool is the recreation of historically accurate costume and society in this movie. So much has been lost to time, but the sagas and archaeology have given us hints as to what the world would have been like. I can see reams of inspiration from a panel of a previking era helmet from the Vendal period, found in sweden. It shows the wolf warrior/berserker and a horned god/dancer with spears which looks identical to what we see in this film.

Hamlet has been adapted in many different forms over the years in ways we're all familiar with, most notably The Lion King. The real strength of this movie is going to be the atmosphere Robert Eggers is so brilliant at creating and the amazing casting job which includes THE Bjork as a pagan witch and Ethan Hawke as the titular character's father and king. • You mention historical action movies and then mention three movies of which two are based on myths and one is loosely based on the diary of a singular individual containing fantastical elements. All are great movies in their own right but just because a movie has a historical setting it does not mean it is a historical movie. If that was the case every fiction that exists in our supposed reality, present or past, would be a historical movie because it has a setting that exists in our history. That being said this does look really good but until we know if it's just a fiction or based on historical events I wouldn't call it a historical movie. Just like Vikings isn't a historical series. If you want to watch a really good historical series that is well documented and which involves vikings then I can warmly recommend The Last Kingdom.
