The Northman - Behind the Scenes

Take a look behind the scenes of the new film by Robert Eggers.
Alexander Skarsgård stars as Prince Amleth, who fled his home as a young boy after seeing his father brutally murdered by his uncle. And yes, that does sound like 'The Lion King' in a Viking setting.

  • I was an extra on this film and I have to say...the cast and crew...right to the very top with Robert...couldn't have been nicer. It's nice to see a lot of these faces again. Folk who I had the pleasure of working with. Thank you all. It was an absolute pleasure to be part of such an incredible thing.

    • I'm just a "card carrying" film and tv extra. There's a company here in Ireland called the Extras Dept. They're free to sign up to and, once you're on their books, if they feel you're the one for the job, they'll reach out to see if you're available. I've done this, some Game of Thrones, etc. Hopefully there will be more work coming soon. There's a lot going on i the Irish movie industry of late. Cheers.

The production design, sets, costume, props, cinematography, plot, sound and acting are exquisitely genuine that you feel transported to a time where the viking saga felt so real. Kudos to Robert and his entire team and most especially to the actors and actresses who were equally amazing in their portrayal of their roles. Alexander is one of my top 5 favorite actors of all time and with such a star-studded cast, each one of them made the characters come to life magically. I have a newfound respect for their craft and ability to breathe life into the story and iconography. The details sewn into each aspect of the movie made it surreal. • Crazy how Amleth is an anagram for Hamlet which is a similar story. Don’t know if that was intentional or not but just adds to how good this movie was nonetheless

    @hanslanda8303@hanslanda83032 жыл бұрын
    • From what I read, Amleth was a Scandinavian story from the 1200s that inspired Shakespeare to write Hamlet. This film was based on the original story

    • Yes (as the video says) its the original Hamlet story. (The movie was also in dialogue with shakespeares hamlet throughout for me in a great way.)

    • @@peeppaa1997 yes I watched the video…what my comment was focused on was amleth being an intentional or not anagram of Hamlet. Not whether it was influenced by the original amleth story. Hop off.

    • Not crazy and not an anagran. The story of Amleth was the inspiration for Hamlet.

  • It might just be hype but judging by William Dafoes analogy of this film along with the amount of details in the locations I pretty sure I'll go see this twice in the theater. Something I haven't done in like forty years.

  • A mad, violent, feverish revenge flick that blurs the line between grounded historical fiction and lurid folklore. It's not for everyone; a lot of you will hate it. But watch it anyway - like all great art, it needs to be experienced for the experience's sake.
