    • I use 5 gallon buckets. I put a teaspoon of Summit Mosquito Bits in the buckets once a week. It's totally safe because the buckets are up high so critters can't get into them. The stuff is contained in the buckets. No more bites. Complete mosquito elimination for 2 years for $31. I spent $15 for 3 buckets and $16 for a large container of Summit Mosquito Bits. The Mosquito Bits are supposed to last for years if kept in a cool dry place.

  • 🌈I’m a physician, ND, practicing 35-40 yrs , doing research in botanical meds and having to deal with mosquito borne diseases in the tropics, Grenada. Your contribution and rationale is solid. I’m behind this presentation as being scientific and effective. You are right by the common and scientific definition of “chemical”. The natural byproducts of other organisms are not considered chemical, even though they can be described as chemical compounds. Water can be described as a chemical compound, H2O, as can saliva, insulin and other compounds in a healthy human body. It’s good that this issue arose to clarify to many curious people the difference between safe, natural chemicals and some dangerous synthetic chemicals. Thanks for having the courage to move forward and clarify in the presence of ignorant attacks. PS. The gnats (sandflies, midges) that these fungal spore byproducts also kill are equally annoying and dangerous as “moskies”(down-under term for mosquitoes). Gnats use soil like moskies use water to hatch larvae, so I theorize that watering ones garden, potted plants, compost heaps, etc., with a solution of your mentioned products would be a good attack method on these “no-see-ums”💥

  • Technically everything is a chemical (including air and water) and there are many chemical reactions in the formation and function of living things. Digesting food and breathing involve many chemical reactions. It's semantics though. The point is that the active ingredient in dunks is not a synthetic or man-made substance but a bacterium. It's about as organic and safe as any pest control can be. Great video!

  • You're a good guy who's just trying to put your experience and knowledge to use by helping others. Anyone with half a brain would be able to tell that. Anonymous internet commenters just love to attack and act superior over others. They are usually young 20 to 30 something year-olds who think they know everything. Armchair experts at their worst. I wouldn't have given them the time of day, but I admire you for defending yourself and going the extra mile to clarify on the product details. Keep doing what you do brother. • The previous home owner built a deck very close to the air conditioner. It drains under the deck and is always wet there, hence a massive mosquito infestation. I purchased a black plastic oil drain pan at Dollar Tree, filled it with water and put a dunk in. Then slid the pan under the deck. It sounds like it’s safe for animals, but I can put a piece of metal screen over the pan if I have any concerns. The screen will keep animals from drinking the water, but the mosquitos will still have access. Thanks for the info!

Not only was this a great video on the subject presented, but its a great teaching video for younger people on how to defend a position in a way that encourages discussion vs. shutting it down. I’m a retired executive but still curious, I actually like to view videos on everyday topics to see how people support or defend a view. Let’s just say some do it very well, as you demonstrated, and some do it very poorly. Probably not the comment you expected but I felt it was worth acknowledging, nice work!

I figured out , just this year to allow the trays to evaporate at least for one day to prevent mossies lavae from living. We do have a small container pond as well. The south side of our house is well shaded. What would a person use to treat areas where there's lots of shade and lots of mosquitos? Thanks for the video! • i appreciate this video, however there is one thing that really bothers me: the reckless way that most people use the word "chemical." while it's true that the vernacular of the word is often used to refer to a compound created artificially, in terms of chemistry as a science and the core concept of what a chemical is there is literally nothing that humans interact with that is not a chemical (with the exceptions of things like light or electrons, but hopefully this is obvious). water is a chemical. air is a chemical. apple juice and milk are chemicals. so to say that chemicals are inherently bad is just as wrong as to say that any particular substance isn't a chemical. i will grant in this case that mosquito dunks are making use of organisms, which arguably are not chemicals in themselves but certainly are amalgams of chemicals and release chemical compounds. my hope to see scientific illiteracy reduced in the united states and the world, and the use of vernacular words like this only further fuel this kind of misconception. again, i appreciate the video and the attempt to clear this up.

  • There are several species of BT and as an organic gardener I consider them a natural control and safe for use. I have used BTK for the caterpillars on my cabbages. I've also used the BTI found in Mosquito dunks in my rain barrel, water garden and even some small free standing water features. The BTI in Mosquito dunks works fast, last year I had a small container with water in it that was teaming with mosquito larva. I just crumbled a little bit of one dunk into the water and several hours later they were all dead. I don't expect to rid the world of mosquitos and don't want to they are an important part of the web of life, but these dunks help keep the population right around my house under control.

  • Physical scientist here: People are such assholes on the internet.....it's clear in this context that by "chemicals" people generally mean "DDT style pesticides", as in the kind that kill pollinators, cause cancer, etc. Context is important, since, by the dictionary definition, water IS a chemical in certain settings (like labs where it has to be so pure it can't even be exposed to air, or where water would be a contaminant). No rational scientist would consider water a chemical in this context. You shouldn't have had to make this video, but great information nonetheless. Subscription earned.

I'm currently trying tougher than toms in coordination with tilted guy's technique as well as a zapper and a dynatrap. The zapper averages about 500 zaps a night (seems like 5-10% are mosquitoes) and the dynatrap which doesn't seem to be all that effective either on attracting mosquitoes. If all of this in combination doesn't work, I will be investing in a mosquito magnet trap.

  • I got a question, just watch you interesting concept for killing Mosquitos abd it makes a lot of sense, thank you. My question is, I am a animal lover and wander if I setup those buckets and my animals drunk from it and knowing that mosquitoes have parasites? Will my animals by drinking that water with the dead mosquitoes? Will they be also be infected by the parasites and cause unknown health problems?

    @salvo9718@salvo9718 Жыл бұрын
    • No, it’s safe for animals to drink. They say it kills the mosquitoes before they fully mature and they are killed in the larva stage. Plus they have to bite you to transmit anything anyway.

  • How about adding guppies a fish that eat mosquitos to any standing water and are they what is called " mosquito fish " ?

    @peterrudy9207@peterrudy92072 жыл бұрын
    • Mosquito minnows. We put them in all of our stock ponds and yard fish pond. They eat the Mosquito larva. They are relatively easy to find in calm backwater areas. Just use a fine mesh net to scoop some up. They will reproduce, given a bit of time. They also give live birth, they don't lay eggs.

    • @@hokep61 Having been in the Philippines before . They suffer a lot from dengue fever carried by mosquitoes . Yet , never heard of their country cultivating these fish at numerous sites to distribute around the country . Then there is the machines that use propane as a attractant that mimcs carbon monoxide from human beath . And I know there are plants that naturally repel moquitoes . Too bad the Philippine govt doesn't have nurseries to grow them for distribution . As every year how many people die from this dengue fever . The most horrible was a " vaccine " / POISON . Andc children were injected with it to die by the hundreds . Too simple to use the basic things that work .
