I stayed one year without her, then she came back to take me with her and we started a new life in Italy. The song is about a blessing that a mother send to her daughter from distance, wishing her to find a way to live her best life even in hard circumstances. Lot of immigrant mothers leave their children to go find better opportunities, and those are special years you miss as a parent but at the same time you’re just trying to be the best parent you could be, working hard for your babe’s future.     • Shes basically singing about a young woman and how she wishes her blessings, good fortune and care to avoid those who wanna hurt her, for the way its written it suggests that she is either singing that to herself or a daughther or a sister, something like that, the tone is very platonic snd doesnt suggest a romantic bond. Nena means 'baby girl' and the song is written in that street philosophy kind of way, very chill, not too complicated but lowkey very emotional. Not to draw comparissons but it reminds me of Sza

  • I lost my mother 4 years ago. I remember that seconds before the doctors came to inform me of her passing, while I was half asleep I felt her caress my cheek as she always did. This song is as if she'd written a blessing for me to listen to.
