    • @@lovell8983 Yes we all understand this because you all talk about it in every AI video on KZhead ever. We also understand that it is literally impossible for the creators to comprehend how ChatGPT makes the associations it does, and without a full comprehension of the neural network involved, while it is little more than pattern recognition at the moment, literally nobody can predict what will come of it. Why? Because we haven't even been able to define our _own_ consciousness.

      @TheFiddleFaddle@TheFiddleFaddle10 ай бұрын
    • @@lovell8983 you know that satire is a linguistic concept in which humor is the underlying intention of the message, right? I'm not in fact currently building an EMP canon and fortifying my house against Hacksmith Industries. Seems like you could use your own language learning model. That being said, the neural networks being used to train GPT can now often emulate the appearance of consciousness, and when given access to tools beyond a chat prompt, can have unintended consequences that are just as damaging as what a human is capable of and can resemble human intentions driven by emotion, given that they are trained on our behavior and implied intentions in conversation - especially given that we don't even really understand how these neural networks work yet. That as it may be, I am not yet remotely concerned of Hacksmith robots committing anything resembling an offensive against humanity... not anytime in the next few months at least.

      @DanielCrist@DanielCrist10 ай бұрын
    • Actually I think a part of our conciousness is predicting what will happen within and outside of ourselves and live accordingly (even if we do it uncounciously). Also learning from using our body, ai will learn from using its processing power which might be connected to a kind of ai body which the more the ai uses different parts the more capable it becomes in thise areas. For now maybe we have not introduced too many of these body parts to create a good enough conciousness but it might get there eventually.

With AI, it's just crazy, there are so many easy to integrate APIs now that makes it so much easier too.

Since most modern slicers can pretty much automatically do everything once you import the STL, you could just integrate the knowledge of what filament is loaded to set specific settings for the slicer, and then you could have 3d printed parts being made even when you’re not at the shop

If SMITHI starts hallucinating and goes on a rampage like a few other GPT projects did the commands will just be ignored or interpreted in a relatively safe fashion (the loader looked a bit clumsy so that may hurt someone by mistake).

    • @@Slayer-by5qm The bigger concern is greedy corporations taking shortcuts instead of making their systems safe. As it stands GPT has a tendency to hallucinate and has on a number of occasions encouraged people to kill themselves or otherwise threatened people. As best I can tell the Hacksmiths built their system such that GPT doesn't actually have direct control of the robots but instead sends general commands that are interpreted by hard coded AI software so even if GPT does go off the deep end the actual robots won't (they may go places they shouldn't but won't actively attack anyone).

      @grn1@grn19 ай бұрын
    • @@grn1 Why do they call that "hallucinate" anyway? Calling it an hallucination just sounds like someone trying to go "don't worry, it's not doing any of this on purpose and also we totally can't be held responsible for this". Blaming the AI while at the same time making it sound like the AI is sick or something and we should totally send it to therapy instead of just burning it down.

  • Wouldn't it be a cool idea to also implement a face recognition algorythm (e.g. via security cams across the building) into S.M.I.T.H.I , so you can just tell it to send a robot to ______ . I think this would be a nice improvement, since you don't have to know the location of someone in the building because the AI will figure it out by itself. Or...It will send an robot army to destroy you🤷‍♂
