I honestly love that Jaime makes a big deal of no killing, but all the adults in his family just straight up murder a bunch of people (to be fair, grandma already had a body count so it doesn't count)
Don’t worry the guards had helmets on so they aren’t murderers 😊
My favorite part of the movie. I like how they think murder is hilarious. The sequel should have random moments where they talk about the people they killed (or them continuing to do it) and him being appalled
Typical backwards morality. Nothing new.
Oh yeah, I bet grandma had a major body count 😏
It honestly makes it even more awkward than the movies that play it straight with the heroes themselves, though it might have still been amusing if it was only one family member doing it while everyone else was appalled.
It was a minor joke in the video but the idea of any of the older family members getting the powers would have been way more interesting. We have enough “relatable” teen heroes
It would have been way more interesting if the the scarab had chosen the grandma
I'm here for an older superhero origin story. Now that's something different.
im here for doctor fate to finally get an origin story
That's one of the things I loved about Black Lightning!
The story shouldve been like, the Beetle chose the grandma at first, giving her few highlighted moments here and there. Then she convinced the beetle to go on her grandson
The grandma is an exception She clearly had a large kill count even before the events of the movie
Even grandmas need a hobby
Every grandma needs a Kabuto
The grandma we all need😂
@@bottomless_pit And the grandma we all deserve.
Don’t mess with Abuelita.
The neymar bit was legit hilarious 😅
Honestly Blue Beetle was the right movie in the wrong time
If this movie was released before The Flash, it would’ve made so much money.
Oh, man. Could not agree more.
And it's already better than both The Flash and Shazam:Fury Of The Gods combined. I really enjoyed this movie and it was alot of fun. And Blue Beetle is one of my favorite DC characters.
At least people seem to agree this movie is better than both the _Shazam_ sequel that someone squandered both Helen Mirren & Lucy Liu and especially that _The Flash_ abomination, but, yeah, this movie is so poorly timed. Granted, pretty much every DC movie has suffered since The Rock's public pissing contest with the _Black Adam_ movie when the DCEU already still needs all the help it can get over a decade later just because WB is that coked out and incompetent.
Felt like it should've been released 15 years ago.
The thing that i loved about the movie is that his origin forced him not to have a secret identity from his family. And speaking about them, the supporting cast did an amazing job
The supporting cast *is* this film's saving grace. I want a sequel to see their adventures. There is something wholesome about the family supporting Jaime and being there for him. Its amazing.
Agreed! I really enjoyed them
Ikr. Jaime's family is the heart of the movie.
I hated the sister
Disagree entirely. Having his whole family there was cheesy and ruined the movie. But agree to Disagree
Yeah the family was super annoying lol. They straight up trolled him constantly and was the main reason they all got into that mess (he wasn't supposed to open the box and they take out the scarab and throw it around the house). They could've dialed back the family BS for sure. Extremely generic movie.
Seeing a video in which the guy from Honest trailers SHOWS and MENTIONS "Chesperito" is something I didn't know I needed up to now.
Y ahora quien podra defenderme?
No contaban con su astucia!
Taaa taaaa taaaaaaaa ta! Es Chespirito.
@@carlosfer2201 Sou do Brasil, aqui a gente só fala Chaves e Chapolin, haha.
if Chespirito rights could be sold to Marvel or DC (to make a live action film) which one would you choose?
Neymar fell too his knees in pain off that stray bullet he just took from honest trailers 😂
I loved that he has regular teeth. Not everyone needs a gleaming white set of chompers.
Danny Glover TRIGGERED
Let's be real, Jaime's family, especially Rudy, were the best part of this film. They're hilarious and I love what a strong unit they are. This is pretty good compared to most DCU movies. It should've done better. We've just been burned out by way too many super hero origin stories.
Agreed
Yeah, they're awesome.
I hope they make a sequel just so we can see them again.
Strong? Jaime was the only one of them actually trying to get a job to save their house, and they sabotaged him every step of the way. His family sucked.
Burned out on superhero movies period.
Credit where credit is due, the fact that there is some legit suit work action in this movie and it isn't all a CGI computer fest gets some props from me, since it harkens back to Sentai in the best way in my book. Also, really wish the voice in his head took some pointers from the Young Justice one and was more like a sinister version of his own tone and actions rather than going more agreeable tony stark AI.
Heck: I'd argue that Robbie was just one transformation sequence away to basically be considered a full-fledged Kamen Rider homage in my book.
The suit looks like a big budget Ultraman costume. Young justice had a great blue beetle, Batman: The Brave and The Bold too.
@@kaiokenkaiowhat9343I certainly agree. But you mixed up Jaime and Robbie.
Yea the Tom holland Spider-Man humor with the stark quippy ai is way over done at this point. Oh look so funny he doesn’t know how his suit works… dumb.
Then people would compare it to Venom instead of MCU Spider-man AI, considering the fact that it's an alien too.
This movie felt like that live-action MAX STEEL movie nobody saw It had the same production values, but done on a bigger budget
i actually watched that Max Steel film and enjoyed it but yeah wasnt amazing or anything.
I don't understand why that movie had a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. It wasn't great, but not that bad
That movie wasn’t the best. The tv show was way better
i did, it was cool actually
Max steel, is that the one with shaq?
"a new hero shows up to the party after the host has sent everyone home" perfect description! 😄😄
What I really enjoyed about this movie were the references to nerd culture that were obvious if you get them, but just something that happened if you didn't. Like the Buster Sword and the attack he does with it, if you don't get the reference it's just something he did because he wanted to, without hanging a lamp on it being a reference.
ff7 yes?
@@AxelHenx There's also another influence that I can't place at the moment. I know I recognize those specific curves on the blade, and the designs on the hilt, from somewhere else, but from where I'm not sure. He really just takes some influences and combines them... that circle he draws on the ground for example, I also recognize that, but can't remember from where; it's just some stuff that's cool, so he wanted to do it.
@@Arkios64 yes it's the buster sword and he boes a beam attack with the sword. about the curves that is a version (not the vanilla, but a legendary form) of the buster sword. maybe an extra reference you mean that i dont pick up on. or maybe you are overthinking it because it's not the vanilla version of the buster sword.and he executes an ultimate with it. nerds of the internet assemble and discuss :D :D
@@AxelHenx THe sword I recognized. I honestly yelled out: Getsuga Tenshou during his attack. Also seemed like he did Zero's spinning blade attack from Megaman X. That was my fav part of the whole movie. Scarab was my fav in Young Justice. I did miss the violent AI, but Becky G's voice makes up for it.
@@skyenetsuriname9614 maybe a rewatch for the hidden stuff. but honestly only liked nanna in the movie the other stuff was so donne. i got the fatigue bad and i love this kind of stuff so hard.
This movie was a lot of fun. I still can’t believe they put Chapolin Colorado in there 😂 My one gripe: The Scarab AI was too nice. Watch the one from Young Justice, you’ll see what I mean
Is it me, or did the Scarab AI sound like Tali freaking Zorah?!
Chapulín*
to be fair, I'm glad they took nothing outta the racist caricature that was YJ
2:33 Suddenly adding Neymar into the context here is an amazing and genius touch.
That Neymar joke was savage 😂
Blue Beetle is my favorite superhero and this movie got so much right about why I came to love him. His earnestness, his love for his family and their involvement, honoring the legacy of all the Blue Beetles, the sense of fun and bizarre in the super heroics, and his relation with Khaji-Da.
Yeah I was worried they'd keep his family to just being background characters, I'm glad they're still a real highlight of the story.
Finally, some Jaime stans!
But screw them for giving his dad the uncle Ben treatment. That was my biggest "but whhhyyyy!" moment in the whole movie.
not to mention hes FUCKING OP!!
I know people like Jaime but I am all bring back Ted Kord.
Never forget before being 5 time Academy Award nominee, she said things like "Toucha Toucha Touch ME, I wanna be DIIIRTY!"
You feel weird seeing Susan Sarandon say such cheesy dialogue until you remember she was in Rocky Horror and sang a song with the lyrics “touch me, I want to feel dirty.”
Seeing El Chapulin Colorado in the movie took me back to my childhood. To those who don’t know, he was our Latin superhero before Jaime.
The Red Grasshopper is an awesome Mexican superhero!
In Brazil i grew up watching this LEGEND.
Yes! I was beyond delighted to see Chapulin! For real my favourite superhero cameo of all time.
the true mexican hero
If you need an actress to fall in love with a guy pretending he's in terrible pain... you call Neymar's ex LOL I'M DEAD 2:40
Maybe if the family says "Shazam" in Spanish, they can all have Blue Beetle suits. I'd watch that movie.
"...making you care more for the unpowered back up characters than for the hero!" Oh god, yes! This movie looked amazing for everything EXCEPT the superhero stuff. Culture? Family? Bring it on. Supersuit? Evil CEOs? Ugh!
Blue Beetle and his family are going for a walk. A very enthusiastic walk.
Most people won’t get the reference 😂😂😂😂
going for a walk is super easy barely an inconvenient
I wasn't expecting a Neymar joke in a honest trailers but I here for It.
Genuinely my favorite DC movie in ages - the superhero stuff and plot was a bit typical, but they really did such a good job with the characters and the actors; I really hope we see them again in the new DCU.
I’m surprised to hear you say that especially since there were a lot better DC movies during the “ages” , the top 3 that come to mind is Joker, Aquaman & Shazam. The Batman & The Suicide Squad were pretty good too
I loved blue beetle regardless of it being flopped. Watched twice, gonna watch again. 😢
That Jenn-Nayy had me weak 😂😂😭😭💀💀
Ted Kord's blue beetle was his own design. i think the story was retconned for this new version of BB to occur in the comics post 52.
I do love Susan Sarandon delivering lines about killing Haime so cheerfully
She was great!
Saw it opening night in theaters and definitely enjoyed it contrasting to the other two DC films we had his year so far.
it seemed pretty similar particularly to Shazam from the trailers at least.
LOVE THE WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS REFERENCE 🤣🤣😭😭😭😭
I wish this had gotten more love. It’s formulaic. It’s not that crazy new or unique but it’s good and didn’t deserve the flash treatment
It's not formulaic. No film has ever been formulaic.
@@majorfanboy2005Oh come on. It was one trope after another. There were more tropes in that movie than actual story.
@@majorfanboy2005if you don’t know what a word means just ask instead of saying something so stupid.
@@Nanobot1989 I know what the word means.
@@majorfanboy2005ok got it you’re being a moron intentionally and I guess just trolling. I don’t understand why people go out of their way to say stupid things but…yea. If that’s you’re thing go for it.
Omg the joke about neymar is so accurate. I choked terribly 😅😅😅
I stopped watching most superhero movies, so I didn’t have the fatigue. Really enjoyed it, I could see it was supposed to be a tv show
Screen Junkies deep voice is a gift that keeps on giving
not you again
Yah the Mufasa line was incredible
Dude, seriously, is this one of those meme accounts that appear from time to time from many people sharing a nick with a little variation, a bot, or are you actually one single person who is magically every fkg where?
I don't remember BB being so glitchy and quippy. Maybe I missed his origin and the part where the suit is an alien comedian from another world.
This movie was a genuine bright spot in the monotony of “meh” superhero films. Hoping for a sequel!!!
Please do both Percy Jackson films before the new Disney+ series comes out this December!
Damn the epic voice guy missed a perfect opportunity to make a BeetleBorg reference. I mean one of them is a literal Blue Beetle! 😂
BIG BAD BEETLE BORGS
That was definitely one of the superhero movie of all time. The best parts action wise was when it turned into a particularly ridiculous saturday morning cartoon, like the abuela with a minigun and the derpy looking vehicle stomping the goons.
I jolted in my seat when they showed the guy get impaled by the beetle. They went light and breezy with the tone and violence in the movie, and then suddenly someone's corpse is stuck on a foreleg.
My friends and I went to see it-me and two of them didn’t like it and thought it was very typical. But my other friend, who never sees superhero movies, loved it. I went to see it again, next time with a different perspective, and also fell in love with it. It’s not bad at all, people are just tired.
"It’s not bad at all, people are just tired." I don't think repetition of the 'superhero' element is the key reason for the lack of interest - it's the repetitive writing full of stereotypes and cliches. Comically bad villain who dramatically fails? Love interest that understands our tortured hero? Etc. Hell, The Simpsons have been running for 34th seasons now and people still watch them.
Do a trailer for the first Ninja Turtles movie! Either that or Mutant Mayhem.
I'm Brazilian 🇧🇷: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR 2:33! Unexpected! Surgical! 🎯 Thank you! Thank you! I can't thank you enough! 😂🤣🙃🤣😂
I hope in the sequel, we learn more about the scarab’s origins, the Reach and other scarab users like Black Beetle
TMNT: Mutant Mayhem was such a blast! Please do an Honest Trailer for that.
Jaime’s family really did kill a lot of nameless soldiers…
This is the best Guyver adaptation ever made.
If you're looking for the best portrayal of Blue Beetle go watch Young Justice. Season 2 is basically dedicated to him and its amazing.
Week 100 of asking for Honest TV Trailer for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Ahsoka next for sure 🎉
It was almost Great!
The only thing I'm hoping this movie will do for DC (and let's be honest, it really isn't) is that it helps introduce the multiverse a bit more. Blue Beetle was the only hero who saw a Crisis event (I forget which one) coming but no one believed him, died because of it, and then the multiverse Crisis happened. Add to that Ted Kord still being alive and _probably_ lost in the multiverse with that transmission coming through, that's the saving grace we need
The family definitely the best part of this movie! 😂
Honestly the best DC movie of the year
That's not saying much
Well, you’re not wrong.
@@nopjhgvery very original
low bar
That’s a very low bar to set but yeah, I liked this one
I actually liked Blue Beetle, especially after the chain of disasters they keep releasing.
This is one DC movie that I actually enjoyed after ages.
The Suicide Squad is still better
@@noobmasterruben5167 Cannot agree more with this. It's still my favorite DCEU movie to date.
To be honest, Nana was one of the greatest characters in recent superhero film history.
Freakin' love her!!
Fell very flat
I avoided watching the trailer for this earlier today because I usually wait until I see the movie. I JUST remembered I watched this movie a couple of weeks ago!! 😂
damn...it's that forgettable?
Guys, please do more Star Trek honest trailers :)
I like how the family talks about how poor they are while Uncle George Lopez is whippin' a fully decked out 2024 Toyota Tacoma. Easily A 40k vehicle😂
The Neymar joke was pure gold
Please do Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. It's the only MI you haven't done since you compiled MI 1 to 4, skipped Rogue Nation and did Fallout.
I loved the movie, and I loved this trailer!
Bro that “Jen-nayy” reference kilted me 😂😂😂
I think another honest trailer name for this movie could have been "Big Bad Beetleborg".
It was a decent movie. Honestly, I like Jaime Reyes reasonably well. However, Ted Kord is one of my all-time favorite comic characters. If they did a sequel with him, it would be great. I'm guessing he's lost in time and will appear in the Booster Gold show that so little has been announced for.
If it gets a second movie, that’s definitely what the plot is going to be: to find Ted Kord. The mid-credits scene was Jenny finding a message from her dad confirming that he’s still alive.
I for one eagerly await the live action debut of DC's greatest dynamic duo
The only thing that annoyed me was Jaime's "call to action" was so stinking long. Like, 45 minutes of him freaking out and trying to not be the Blue Beetle, before his dad gets killed and he finally gets his motivation. I enjoyed the movie though. I totally agree with the Honest Trailer that the background characters were really entertaining.
Please do an Honest Trailer for TMNT: Mutant Mayhem
3:40 - 3:47 IT'S LIKE THEIR VERSION OF SAYING have You seen Back to the Future, Hottub Time Machine 2, Ready Player One and Crisis on the Infinite Earths then you'll get THE AVENGERS ENDGAME... Like not a single movie had the same things ever get repeated because THEY DON'T, if I'm eating a burger and the guy two days after eating a burger in the different restaurant and then another guy eats the burger somewhere else makes us copying eachother or we're just doing things on our own without noticing it will get criticised for just doing the thing we've seen somewhere else...
Really enjoyed this movie. Uncle Rudy reminded me so much of one of my uncles that it made everything he did/said even funnier.
I had no idea what this movie was about until 1:50 into this trailer. I wish I had known that it was an alien hijacking him! Sounds cool, I might have gone to see him.
So happy Blue Beetle is staying in The DCU!
Too Spicy!!! Love, Jacob, Xolo, and the Lone Lobos Team
"overreacting?, you kidnapped me" 🤣🤣
I'm getting blue about how you've still haven't made an Honest Trailer for Highlander... but I'll keep coming back week for week until you make one =) All these comments by now are some kind of serialised novel almost xD
The grandma was the real MVP of the entire movie...
If this movie had come out a few years in the pre 'just throw everything on streaming' model everyone seems to have it would've done much better
Getting an ad with the voice guy before an honest trailer video is honestly perfect
Please do an honest trailer for the Sopranos
After seeing the commentary video for this one, are Honest Trailers gonna finally do Titan AE or Treasure Planet? Either way, I'm excited.
Oh, yeah! I just remembered that Ashoka got released not too long ago... Essentially just a live action continuation of Star Wars Rebels...
Hold up! Was I the only one who forgot that Star Wars Visions got a second series?! Oh, I mean, a second volume.
Jaime: No killing! Nana & Uncle: Okay

The family was the best part of the movie. Also, in the background, the news anchor says that Bruce Wayne bought twitter in Spanish xD
Felt like a fusion of Ultraman and ironman .. with action sequences that reminded me of Power Rangers
Well, it’s kind of like The Guyver, honestly.
Blue Beetle made me tear up 😢 I really loved the family dynamic and seeing Miguel from Cobra Kai on the big superhero screen ❤❤❤
Im glad at least someone knows about the rest of Blue beetle's history.

Best DC movie in a while!
The movie was very simplistic but fun. The grandma and George Lopez were entertaining
George Lopez was the best part. But why they got to make literally every Caucasian character evil and every Hispanic character a hero by the end.
Blue Bettle ORIGINAL cinematic origin story: based off of Egyptian mythology and folklore... Moon Knight: "Aherm"!
