    • @Public-jm1cb I have a problem with the desperation move because I find it pathetic looking and if I ever want to introduce the sport to someone a Devon/MMT match would be the last I'd show them. No need to be a dick of course as I never insulted you but keep being you guy.

    • He never tries to finish fast because he doesn't have the explosivness to do it. His strenght lies in make the opponent tired. He let the opponet drain himself out of energy and then he just finishes the job. I think Devon wouldn't be that succesful if kings move was not allowed. You need to almost literally lift up the whole bodywheight of the guy to overcome that move. I don't think he is usually the strongest of the match, but he is the most resilient, and that coupled with a rule that let you literally extend totally your arm without losing makes him very hard to beat.

Master of the mechanics and techniques. That’s seems to be why so often he looks like he’s on the defense and trying to keep from getting pinned and all the while he’s just processing and letting the other guy show what he has and expend energy. Always think he’s in trouble then next thing you know he dominates. Almost impossible to beat him if you are not extremely higher level skill and power.

    @rivalgx3210@rivalgx321010 ай бұрын
    • Fast set-ups are not synonymous with good refing. There were some very cocked wrists well before the go at some points, but for the most part it seemed fine to me. A pretty serious example of this (and starting partially palm up) is during the Plamen Dimitrov vs Brandon Ellsessor match at 7:15 (but it got sorted out. Refing is very not easy in armwrestling).

      @Siberius-@Siberius-10 ай бұрын
    • For my part, I want to see armwrestling get back to the point where the competitors get more say in their grip like this event allowed. Part of armwrestling has historically been trying to get a better initial grip than your opponent. I feel sometimes the referees try too hard, and they end up fighting the efforts of both competitors, which is what makes so many matches draw out in length. I believe that all the initial gripping is part of the battle. So it was refreshing to see this.

    • @@Siberius- If your too weak to handle a slightly cocked wrist then you need to get stronger.

      @abelanc1090@abelanc10908 ай бұрын
    • @@abelanc1090 - Competitors are much stronger with even a tiny amount of wrist-bend, they generally fight for everything. Also it allows them to get into a hook a lot easier, or sometimes to just drive to the pad, keeping their hand flat instead of losing it. But then there is an argument that all matches should start with a slightly bent wrist, since starting with a straight wrist means that toprollers actually have an advantage. Since one can immediately just start toprolling (as far as where the pressure is), whereas with a hook you generally need to establish it first and THEN pull. I know Cyplenkov has talked about this. But that would be a deliberate new rule change. Hard to implement though, since there's a grey area for how much bend in the wrist there should be, so I don't see that changing in reality.
