Introducing my breathtaking Blue Epoxy Resin and Australian Mallee Burl Urn, a true masterpiece of craftsmanship and elegance. The unique combination of these elements results in a one-of-a-kind urn that exudes both beauty and sophistication. I meticulously sand each surface to 3000 grit, ensuring smoothness that is unparalleled. Total of 7.5kg or 16.5lbs of epoxy resin was poured in a single go.
To ensure a perfect fit and add a touch of luxury, I have incorporated a brass threaded insert for the lid. This not only guarantees a secure closure but also enhances the overall premium look and feel of the urn.
To protect its beauty for years to come, we apply several layers of clear gloss lacquer. This finishing touch not only adds depth but also provides durability while enhancing the natural luster of the wood and resin.

    • @@DavidsWoodturning Have you ever thought using lace, perhaps from disused dresses from your wife or someone? Or other fabrics? Perhaps some foodstuffs such as dried lentils, various coloured peas and beans? Perhaps sand or different coloured sands in clear resin? Shredded used paper (not small cross cross shredded but longer lengths bundled together) for a different textured look? Only ideas which you might or might not like. Best wishes.

  • Very beautiful and thoughtful. My heart goes out to you the difficulty of this project lay not with the turning itself (though skill there is). I set out to turn my fathers but my step mother requested a more obelisk form and I made her 1 large one and mini ones for the kids.....she loved them but they were hard to work on.....again my thoughts go to you.

    • Thank you so much 😀 Firstly, I was always against making an urn. Just because what they are for and I did not feel it connects well with me and what I do. But Carl described his idea to the project so well and looking at his passion and desire about the urn made me want to do it. I knew it will be challenge from the size, brass threading, white swirls etc. So I kept planning, testing and waiting for some other stuff and time flew by.
