What was your favourite tip from Guillermo del Toro?!
Here my favs: Add more layers/details to create your perfect & believable illusion, also called movie. And, directing is an orchestra of obstacles
They are all great, but you could learn many by following one, start by doing!
Failing in your own terms
"Directing, no matter who you are, is the art of orchestrating accidents." & quoting the Zen saying "The obstacle is the path." An obstacle is only a path that has been looked at wrong. These are great truisms of film making that can be discovered or learned more easily through experience and maturity.
Obstacle being the path no one figured out yet. Originality. Nothing better in an ocean of creative expression.
According to Guillermo, directing is the art of orchestrating accidents. True in film making and true in life!!
Alternate title: The proof that GDT is the best director ever and a great human being.
Extremely tempted to change to that title :)
He's truly a kid with a heart of gold and a genius vision.
as a creator, the first thing you must achieve is to entertain yourself. because there is always the chance that the whole world and everyone in it is just an illusion.
Good point... if you can't even entertain yourself, how will you entertain others?
Life would be so much easier if I didn't have this burning desire to make movies.
So, true. Especially be firm and flexible, and filming accidents.
Ya
It’s a major competition for me, whether to love Del Toro’s movies more or to love him as a human and cinema lover more.
Best collection of advice from a big league director.
Thank you so much for putting this together. Keep up the great work! Very inspiring
Thank you! Will do!
Hellboy 2 is a cool fantasy realm adventure action/martial arts film, Pacific Rim a cool action Mech film, Blade 2 a cool action martial arts horror film, among his other films.
One of the best ever advises I have ever encountered. Makes perfect sense!
Fantastic!! Glad you enjoyed this
I am not a fan of Del Toro, but his advices are true. They even fit for life itself. You just got to respect that man.
Beautiful.
write to shoot, shoot to edit, edit to create

Could you make a video about Robert Richardson. Video Fantastic!!
Thank you! We certainly will cover Robert Richardson, in fact we already started working on him but was pushed back at the moment. We'll release Richardson next week, promise :)
How Absolutely Absolutely brilliant his advices are !!!!! THE OBSTACLE IS THE WAY !!
Agreed! Glad you enjoyed this!
*could you do a video like this about Alejandro Inarritu interviews?* they are awesome
What a beautiful man. 🍻
Please make a video on James cameron
Will do! Added to our list :)
no dont he will just be trying to push everything digital he's not the filmaker he was in the 80;s and early 90's
@@MegaKamandi in economics , every single aspect has thousands of definition , so we can't deny all of them . Same in filmaking - every mind makes movies differently some do layered work like Nolan some do linear work like Spielberg and some do storytelling by technical work like him, we can't deny he is not a good filmaker. It's totally how u percieve his work @megakamandi. Marvel geeks never understand him today but future generations will be.
I would give my life for this man
I can be tough, I can do this. My grandma in Heaven... "pass the salsa" ;)
What music did you use for the intro, starting @ 0:15? Beautiful piece that I tried to find, but couldn't

Be personal. Keep your beliefs. Don’t be afraid to integrate what other world views consider weird, as they represent your ancestral truth.
Let your voice be heard.
Olmi please. 🤘🏻
Will add him on our list!
I miss your videos :(
He should do the next Dr. Strange
i agree
Thanks for this man/woman/other, really inspiring
You're welcome, glad you enjoyed this!
Dealing with Harvey Weinstein on Mimic, Del Toro should know! Peter Jackson even stepped in to help him push Weinstein away because Guillermo had such a bad experience making Mimic.
Subtitles?
at 11:05 ... whats on his arm? is he sick?
I mean he is pretty overweight, that brings along many different diseases
That Dutch angle in his interview bothers me.
How to be a successful director?............make sure to literally walk away from THE HOBBIT trilogy
아 젠장 한글 자막 좀 있었으면 좋겠다

Every art is political? For real? Not necessary, expressing feelings and ideas are only expressions. Those who watch are the ones that make it political.
everything we do has politics, when you ask a friend to go out is politics, we are always choosing this or that, politics in its essence he means, not politics as in merely government
@@annacoribioanna in my opinion that is your perception. I feel sorry for you, if everything you do in life is political. It could be philosofical instead!
Steal to win oscars, that's what he did with Shape of water
