Guillermo Del Toro is the ultimate movie guy. His knowledge and passion for movie is simply amazing.
hes like a less coked up Tarantino
@@kiwione12 don’t forget about Edgar Wright. He’s up there
Del Toro is also the ultimate ART guy as a whole. His passion for anything creative is really inspiring.
@@kiwione12 and WAY more talented than the annoying QT.
@@kiwione12 lol del Toro knowledge on painters and general knowledge was more than tino
Guillermo is a treasure
These two compliment each other so well!
I love this kind of content! Please do more Directors on Directors and Actors on Actors in the future
"Nightmare Alley is about the American Dream." So proud to be alive to hear and see this.
I admire Guillermo so much !!! There are just no words 👌🏽
love both directors; met Jane Campion for like a minute at Berlin in 2012 at the film festival over there when they screened Top of the Lake, she was very kind!
Note to Jane Campion:I saw The Piano when I was a teenager. Ever since there have only been a couple of films that wrenched my heartstrings so much and got me thinking about freedom, loneliness, chauvinism, beauty and love. Thank you for the beautiful present.
Saw it as a teenager too, a very haunting film. The shot of Ada being pulled out of the house by Alisdair with an axe has always stayed with me. Ada almost looks like a human doll in that moment, something Alisdair wants to tame and own.
I really enjoyed this discussion,I admire the both directors,The power of the dog is very good ,I haven’t watch Nightmare Alley yet but his previous work is very good
great pairing! Would be dope to get PTA on one of these. Cheers
Just saw Power of the Dog. My goodness. What a movie. What art!Mind blowing!
Jane Campion is amazing. Love her.
Amazing!! Two of my favorites
Two legends!
Dream pairing and conversation!
What a spectacular combination! These two are cinematic geniuses!
Showing cracks and then mending them is what a storyteller does. An all button closed person, a single top-button opened person and a top two buttons opened person tells three different stories. Guillermo del Toro is a genius.
Love both of them, Jane's works are amazing, will wait for more such conversations
Love Guillermo!!
Yes, this is truly inspiring, and love them both all filmmakers. I really want to meet him someday. I'm in Canada I know he shoots here a lot...
del Toro is a genius.
Thanks for this, amazing chat between two titans
I love Jane Campion's sense of humour!
I love this so much
I'm not a huge fan of Guillermo's movies, but I love hearing him talk about Jane's!
The Power of The Dog deserves the Oscar for best film 2021, Jane Campion create a masterpiece.
Love these videos!
This was so much fun. Campion is so smart about asking questions to quietly try to go deeper into Del Toro. Del toro as usual is his engaging self.
Two ridiculously brilliant directors. Nothing is more lonely than when the actors leave the family of your movie when it wraps.
Great filmmakers.
Great conversation! Muy buena y agradable conversación. Saludos desde Ecuador.
That was really good
I LOVE these two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful.
do writer on writer: PTA and Jordan Peele!
This is the best dialogue between two directors I've ever seen. You'd have to go back to Orson and Cavett to see better discussions.
The critical philosophical choices of Guillermo Del Toro are the reasons why his movies are so beautiful. Is there anyway to do an internship under him?
Excellent
Jane Campion said amaze-ball..?
How about sending Architecture digest or the Vouge 73 questions to Guillermo's house??
Guillermo😍😍😍
These two could be fast friends… I hope they went for dinner after this and connected.. and I would love to know what the personal jewelry they have on means to them
Guillermo showed her his rain room. Cut to black.
NOT THE RAIN ROOM
Great
Dang Memo be looking gangster there shaaaaaaauuuuu
I’m sorry but this is a great video
Dear Variety: Paul Thomas Anderson and Steven Spielberg next, please. ;-)
Heck yeah.
Guillermo so interested in her😍
O Guillermo del toro podia fazer o filme do silent hills com o roteiro do hideo kojima
he is a death...stranding. but Campion, she can bring a hill so silent even del toro and kojima might weep! Watch 'The Piano'
My favourite movie :)
Really hope Guillermo del Toro reboot guyver with all the monster in his mind.
I want actors on actors between K Stew and Andrew Garfield, please make it happen!
Totoro san !!!
The directors of the two movies which should have won Best Picture this years. But no, let's give it to a remake because of diversity? Great conversation!!! Thanx!!!!
We NEED one with: Christopher Nolan & Sam Raimi Martin Scorsese & Quentin Tarantino
Love Del Toro, but comments don't do justice to Campion. Brilliant directors both.
I absolutely saw that gayness in that macho cowboy!,,
thank you, Jesus!

Met Jane Campion told her I didn’t like Bright Star she took it very well and wanted to know the reason behind my dislike Nice lady that she was curious about my opinion and not defensive
why didn't you? I thought it was a beautiful film though less complex than Power of the Dog
@@GwaiZai u sound like Jane lol she wouldn’t let me go until she had an answer I just thought the script cast story was boring I loved portrait of a lady !! But bright star may have been too female focused for me Why did you like it Chris ?
@@rkomgm3932 I liked it because it was all about understanding these characters at depth. I agree that from a plot perspective, what really happens? Until the end. And then you rethink these characters and their interactions. It's small and intimate.
@@GwaiZai nice reply thank you !
He keeps getting fatter and wiser.
🤣
It’s getting to the point where it’s damn worrisome. Don’t want him to go anytime soon :/
I'm still not convinced Benedict was right person. Part of me wishes that I could see the movie where Jesse and Benedict swap roles. I believe anger from Jesse plemons more easily than I do from Benedict Cumberbatch
the Power of the Dog is something special although not necassarily something great.
I thought it was great. I saw it three weeks ago and am still thinking about it
GDT: "So glad to see you." JC: "Yeah." @0:48 This is who Variety decides be interviewed? A giant of Cinema like Oscar-Award winner Guillermo del Toro been treated to this? Lovely, just lovely... His current movie, and overall work in fact, is a thousand times more enticing and forward thinking than her's. Her "cowboy" movie was lame af... lame and then some. Story-wise, treatment-wise, drama-wise-boring and same-y. You could've gotten Alfonso Cuarón, or Bong Joon-ho, people with whom Del Toro has some familiar pathfinding with, but no. Cameron and Villeneuve's Dir. on Dir. was so good and engaging... Here we lack engagement. Del Toro is a gentleman, and he will roll with the punches whenever he is required, but let's not waste away this man's genius by reducing him to be the one looking for answers from a person that won't give him one he will actually take back home with. Ms. Campion and Adam McKay would've been a thing to behold though.
You are so right man
The film fails to show the development of the mom's alcoholisim. One day she's a raging drunk.....but a really good film.
power of the dog is an incoherent totally boring production -
I disagree
No it's not. It's a thoroughly Engaging film. But it is very subtle and methodical character piece, so u really have to be the mood & headspace to watch it. It's certainly worked for me. My favourite film of the year followed by The Father and Titane.
Your mother is
...or is it?
you forgot to add "I think" to the start of your opinion
