    • honestly there's been a general trend throughout the wiki's history toward them usually being both less cautious and less competent (with exceptions) than they used to be in earlier entries, which is odd when you also consider early SCPs were mostly like "here's a random object that does spooky things and can kill or maim people, but luckily there's a weird room you can build to contain it" versus now where you regularly see "this thing is a literal god among gods and will suck up the Foundation's entire reality like spaghett noodle if they so much as look at it the wrong way (and they *will* look at it the wrong way)".

Both organizations are shown to be pretty willing to sacrifice individual human lives to achieve their respective goals (in fact, if anything, the Foundation probably kills *more* non-anomalous humans on a regular basis than the GOC does, although we also obviously haven't been given nearly as extensive a look into the inner workings and tactics of the latter)

It had no investors, no shareholders, no CEO, just miles and eons of blood-soaked gears and lonely sweatshop souls churning out soulless muck from its bowels, a cancerous structure seeking nothing but the mammon that allowed it to grow and spread and offer the universe its waste in exchange for more resources." - Assistance for the Boss Lady

When the last being in the universe hangs itself upon a dead tree, the Factory will cannibalize its lifeless corpse for raw materials. When the last star dies, the last planet crumbles, the last cosmic cloud disperses, when the last bit of warmth is devoured by entropy, when at last some deification being comes across an empty existential space to make the universe anew, the Factory will be there, waiting for seconds.”

Think about it, all the machine references, saying that living things are part of the machine, it's all about productivity and seeing the "End Goal" or "Logical *Conclusion"* of industry. I mean, look at SCP-001/SCP-048 "A Good Boy", it tried to reach it's end goal too". But it also has themes of rust, and flesh. A lot of pig flesh too. It's like someone tried to stuff Yoldaboth and Mekhane together in one thing. It spreads across realities like a virus according to the serpents hand. So.... What if actually *is* a virus?

  • I honestly trust the Serpent's Hand for the ultimate origin. From their base in The Serpent's Library, they have a bird's eye view to the scp multiverse. This means they are able to see everything from the outside, thus see them objectively. Marshall, Carter, and Dark also seem to have insight into daily operation of the infection as it manifests, and would likely have figured out how the anomalous properties originate. The SCP 001 proposal could give an indication about how the infection establishes itself, namely in the minds and souls of the rich fucks that run the world. They experience the infection as a dark, occult deity...and the infection likely possesses some kind of consciousness. Indeed...The Investor is truly terrifying. And the SCP 001 proposal...a tip of the iceberg.

They think SCP 426 “I am a Toaster” is an eldritch god that will inevitably consume and become one with everything, and it’s mere luck that the form it chose this time is relatively benign, but it will still eventually consume our reality like so many others. (Edit) I presume that [EXPUNGED] event in the Daycare was one of the kids sharpening the pencil too much and either getting someone stabbed or the daycare getting some fire problems. Kids tend to.... Overdo sharpening And the Rust also might be an affliction caused by being connected to The Factory. If Wondertainmemt (family or person) originates from there then he might had the Rust implanted in him as a method to keep him, and other workers, in the factory. • Having read the factory's 001 proposal as my first one almost a decade ago, it still is one of my favorite things about the wiki, and one I'm fascinated by. SCP-4000 also happens to be one of my fav SCP's because it ties back to this origin, long ago, of most of the anomalies that made the foundation what it is now.

  • I recall a series of tales. They involve the Factory, the Fae, Dr. (Isabel) Wondertainment , Manny from Herman Fuller's Circus and Iris Dark. In those stories he Factory is multidimensional and is run by a brother Dark (as in Marshal Cater & Dark). In the end the "core" of the Factory gets wrecked and the brother killed (with the help of Dr. Wondertainment). It was a strange mix of canons. sm
