  • The Daevits always seem super cool until I remember that theyre a civilization of super beings with every advantage imaginable up to and including LITERAL MAGIC at their disposal that can’t manage to survive as a civilization without retconning their own destruction every hundred or so years -.-

    @jasonbarry3301@jasonbarry33013 жыл бұрын
    • I actually think that means that they actually NEVER existed. At least as the Empire they make it to be. They probably were a small and magic-centered civilization, which created the book (SCP 140) to further their civilization as they ended up collapsing st some point. They made it so their history would never end as long as someone keeps reading the book. However, as their existence is retroactively created by someone in the present, where the Deavites are no longer in power... They always end up crumbling down for some reason, even though it wouldn't make sense. That is my theory at least. They are doomed to always fall yet always survive, given that their existence is tied to reality manipulation and reality correction. However, since it only works from a retrospective perspective (since it always talks about the past and it cannot probably talk about the present) they are always doomed to never be "currently alive".

    • It's because beryllium-bronze was one of the earliest metals created that was a non magnetic, non sparking, but still hard and strong. They used to crush emeralds to get beryllium and then mix it with the bronze to create a dull colored metal that was heat resistant, chemically inert, and could cause toxic reactions in people it was used against. The reason is probably because beryllium has a lot of unique properties that allow it to basically ignore a lot of energy interactions that other metals react to.

  • The Daevite book raises an interesting question, what is the furthest you can go? My guess is WW2 is the furthest you can change history before they become the dominant empire (crushed by either the nazis or the allies), but maybe you can go further, seeing how the Daevites are middle-eastern, so the Gulf War could end them after bombings, or maybe if we put them in WW1 they change the history so much that WW2 doesn't happen, and the Daevites take over, so maybe that's the limit, I honestly don't know.

And it makes sense, our society is very very roman-based at his core, so if the daevites become dominant instead of the romans, well, the bases would change and that would be it.

It is not that their culture would be spared...but rather the leaders would be part of the subjugating force and as such would continue to exist as the messagers of destruction. And maybe would learn how to subplant the scarlet king. Hubris and ambition.

  • You forgot two important facts that I noticed while reading the documents themselves: 1. In the documents from the high priest, the high priest, the priest at one points ask how many of "[his people] are shackled in the darkness of the jailer's vaults?" This is important because the Serpent's Hand tends to call the SCP Foundation "the jailors", and, on the Wandering Library's Website, while it has a separate page for the Daevites and even says the Daevites were enemies of the library, it's also interesting to know the high priest laments the loss of 140, and it's mentioned on the websites that it is the Library that has 140's dust jacket, but lost the book was "lost long ago." 2. It appears the seed from 4008 was initially taken from the SCP-1000, the Children of the Night, as the documents recovered with it mention that they took the seed from the "Night Children", and a tree-based weapon would be something I could see them making. It even appears that the Night Children who resisted them were undead, as it was their "remains" that resisted the Daevites who took the first seed.

    @brandonmoss8286@brandonmoss82863 жыл бұрын
    • I think that the High Priest may have been a patron of the Wanderers Library, and so he got his hands on Scp 140 and stole it from the Library. Also, another thing to note is that one of the running theories on why the Wanderers Library exists in the first place is because of the Daevites, as it is believed that a Daevite Priestess may have made love to the Serpent and helped it make the Library using her botanical powers. This is further proven by the quote, “The Garden Is The Serpents Place”, which is the quote used by the Serpent’s Hand member L.S. in a letter left for the Foundation, during an incident where she stole back her invisibility cap and had destroyed Scp 407, which in itself is related to the Daevites.
