India Out from Maldives was a big shock to the govt as well as to the masses. India has been facing pushback & backfire from few other countries too. Canada, Qatar, Germany have been in adversarial situation with India from time to time of late. India's diplomatic and strategic responses too are quite unique. It leaves an impression that India is anxious about the loss and is desperately projecting it's anguish on the adversery country by implying that the adversary is already regreting their move and they may soon be desperate to normalise relations with India or are already softening their stand against India. However, to the contrary and on the ground, that country countinues to mount pressure on India, for valid or not so valid reasons, and often gets into escalation/provocative mode. The release of life sentenced prisoners from Qatar was made to look like a major rescue operation from the brink of certain death. Except that rescue operation was rephrased as Modi magic = diplomatic masterstroke = proof of the rising status of India as a regional power with global significance etc euphoric terms. Infact the whole episode is still sketchy and a suspence. If the events preceding and following the release instance are to be rationalised then one would suspect that chain of events suggest contradictory assessment. For e.g. just before the release, India and Qatar hurriedly concluded a major long term deal, which has been dangling for a long time, for supply of gas from Qatar to India. Immediately after the release PM, while on his visit to UAE as if coincidentally, suddenly decides to reach Qatar for what looked like mere hands shaking ceremony with very little exchange between the heads of two countries and no press release. Was it really a magic or was it arm twisting? If so who was the twister? Interestingly enough one of the released navy person Saurabh Vasisht, in his interview to BBC Hindi, said he was still wondering what the charges were against him(them). Assuming he was not pretending before the camera. Therefore, was he a hostage or a prisoner? There are few more exciting events/leaks from the govt of late. • News Week Q&A for addressing China border issue? • ANI Q&A for addressing Electoral Bonds scam? Are they same as Cash for Query? Were they prepaid or postpaid? 1. Bill Gates(= George Soros 2) met PM two weeks ago? No outcome! 2. Much hyped Modi Panchayat for Ukraine peace negotiations - venue, menu, timetable? No outcome! 3. Elon Musk= X=? Visit cancelled. Again no outcome? 4. Jeff Bezos......? No/Yes 5. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JP Morgan......QPQ. Finally one hit after many misses. Congratulations! Who is next? 6. 11 Indian students killed in US so far, in last 6 months. SJ the smart diplomat is silent?¿ Perhaps Indian decision makers are doing so out of domestic compulsions like election, which happens all the time at different places in India, or declining popularity of our ruling dispensation i.e. BJP govt/ leadership etc. Govt in it's excitement to demonstrate rapid change of stature for India and rising popularity of PM in the world stage, might expose certain weeknesses to the world and to our own citizens. Look at the consequences of hastily executed actions like Demonetization and the shabby Electoral Bonds scheme among so many other avoidable goof ups by the present govt. Once exposed they appear quite silly and - hide the face - kind of embarrassment to the govt and their think tanks who are responsible for such blunders. Election times are here again.
