Resident Evil 4 is a 2023 video game developed and published by Capcom. A remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4, it was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24, 2023. The game follows the US agent Leon S. Kennedy, who must save Ashley Graham, the daughter of the US president, from the mysterious Los Illuminados cult.
Six years after the events of Resident Evil 2, US agent Leon S. Kennedy is sent on a mission to rescue Ashley Graham, daughter of the US president, from a Spanish village controlled by the violent cult Los Illuminados. Other characters include Ada Wong, Leon's operator Ingrid Hunnigan, the civilian Luis Sera, and the antagonists Bitores Mendez, Ramon Salazar, Jack Krauser and Osmund Saddler.
Resident Evil 4 is a remake of the 2005 game Resident Evil 4. It features "over-the-shoulder" third-person shooter gameplay similar to the original, while drawing from the remakes of Resident Evil 2 (2019) and Resident Evil 3 (2020). Resident Evil 4 features redesigned visuals compared to the original, designed to create a tenser atmosphere, along with new character designs and backgrounds. It offers six controls schemes, including one styled after the original game.
As in the original game, the player organizes their inventory with an "attache case". New to the remake, a crafting system enables the player to create items and ammunition using resources collected throughout the game. The Merchant returns, allowing the player to buy, upgrade, and trade items. He will provide new side quests that may be completed during the main story. Similarly to the original, the primary focus of combat is shooting enemies and reloading. However, Leon can now move and use weapons at the same time, allowing him to evade attacks while firing. Leon can also use roundhouse kicks to injure enemies and push them away, and a new parrying mechanic allows him to block and counter attacks with his knife.
Luis and Krauser helped Leon realize that people can change, either for the worse or for the better
And leon stay the same.

Luis really just wanted to atone for his actions and seeing that he really wanted to better himself. Really hit me deep I really respect the remake version of him.
It's more cinematic in the Remake. I actually prefer him dying by Krauser instead of Saddler's "dick".
How Leon didn't see Saddler come into room behind Luis was something that always bugged me in the original.
Yes, but dick part is hilarious, and now game content is dictated by feminist politics

Luis's last word Luis in original: "Here. It should suppress growth of the parasite. The sample... Sadler took it. You have to get it back." Luis in remake: "Take this. The key to my laboratory. Go there... and remover those damn... parasites... Help... Ashley... You know, I led a pretty shitty life. But now, eh... ...what do you think, Leon? People can change, right?"
Remake make change philosophy, and how bad agent
I like both, but the remakes version has more depth, Leon lights his cigarette for him, and closes his hand. The OG will still have a special place in my heart, but the remake's version of Louis' death is better. Imo
@@lonniedwayne9549 What makes the remake better is simply the fact that Luis got more development and highlight, while on the original, you almost have no time to really care about his death
@@GbrNaGi , 100 percent got more development to his character, true. But I still remember being kinda shocked at the OG as a kid, I really thought he'd stick with Leon til the end and get even more screen time. @@GbrNaGi If you pick up Luis’s personal notes and understand his thoughts, it made me sad but I agree that the OG didn’t go that deep into Luis, despite him being a critical character. And he is. Loved the Remake’s hidden details about Luis and his origin of being born in the village prior to Las Plagas taking over. From reading the files in the village, you can discover bits and pieces talking about a ‘genius young boy obsessed with the stories of Don Quixote’. The boy ran away after a tragedy and never returned. We know he later went to work for Umbrella before returning to the village. (I’m currently fighting my way through the island so I’m excited to learn more details)
You could have learned that stuff before the remake by just reading his wiki article.

@@Amp661 The dude's saying that they added all that in game, instead of you having to go to an external source and read about it. Of course a lot of people will have known about this piece of lore, the OG was out for 14 years but the fact they incorporated said lore into the remake gives it a lot more depth. I'd rather learn lore through environmental story telling and files you read in game rather than going to a website and reading it there
It's stated in the original as well. There's a log from Mendez talking about how Luis was hiding in the woods using hunting trails his grandfather had shown him.
Bruh his death in the remake is far more heartbreaking than the original, I legit just shed some tears after watching it.
The OG wasn't supposed to be some sappy BS.
@@FirstLast-yc9lq So how do you explain Leon crying out in pain over Luis's death in the original? They were clearly going for something sad. I don't get how making his death have more of an effect is a bad thing.
@@peronafanman The same as you see in many cult b-horror movies they were imitating? RE was never supposed to be taken this seriously. They have always been playing off of straight to video horror flicks. This is pretty damn clear just from the live action video they made for the original RE. It's campy horror fun. I don't know how you could have played through the OG RE4 and not understood this.
@@peronafanman You also weren't supposed to cry over David's death in Dino Crisis 2 - again, it's all camp and gore. It wasn't pretending to be anything more.
@@FirstLast-yc9lq Ok? These Remakes are clearly meant to be a much more realistic take on these games, that's why they're called "Remakes" This type of tone change isn't restricted to only games either, notice how the Dawn of the Dead Remake has a much more serious tone than that of the original? Also I don't really consider the original RE4 to even be a horror game, especially with the abundance of action elements compared to previous RE games.
I love how in Remake, Luis asks for a smoke from Leon only for Leon to say “those things will kill you”. The irony that when Luis dies… Leon gives him one final smoke… 😭
Welp, nothing can stop it now anyway. Also, "You got a smoke?" might be Luis' trust password, a way to make sure if the person he's talking to knows about his plan.
They made him go out with respect on the remake, it was a touching moment. In the original it all seemed sudden and Leon just moved on like it was nothing, I personally love the change.

I actually prefer the remakes death, Krauser killing him somehow feels more cinematic because of his connection to leon and his final words in the remake really shows the guilt he feels over what he done with Umbrella
It's probably a better connection due to the irony in it. Luis a scientist working for umbrella trying to turn a new leaf ended up getting killed by the soldier who lost all faith in humanity. Like a ghost of Leon's past directly interfering with the present.
The remake definitely does a much better job developing Luis’ character and giving him a proper character arc. You can even read about him via files in his lab, which is great.
Or you could have just read his wiki which came out almost ten years ago
Every character has better development. The original was lighthearted goofy game. Great when I was a kid. That’s what I like they made it mature for the audience who is now 18 years older. We’ve experienced a lot and matured. This remake taps into that and brings everyone aboard. To me ashley has the biggest leap she’s scared in the beginning but by the end she comes to terms that there’s more to life than being a pampered rich kid and wants to be Leon’s partner/agent. She’s not hardened though just experienced. Something she never would’ve gotten in her cozy New England college. Krauser, Ada, Leon all of them have leagues above better development. Even Salazar is more realistic and grounded not a goofy little caricature. Kind of sad saddler didn’t get more time. But damn this is the greatest remake ever made. It surpasses the original something we only thought would be possible gameplay wise not story wise hats off to capcom. Hopefully 5 gets a remake

I really appreciated the fact that Luis actually came off like a guy who was trying to over-compensate for his scientific background with his goofy one-liners and “ladies man” comments. The disconnect between him supposedly being some hyper brilliant researcher and also Puss-in-Boots in human form was always such a wonderfully stupid part of the original. The job they did maturing him and Ashley in terms of character really is some amazing storytelling.
Luis has the biggest upgrade in the remake that killing him in one game seems like a wasted potential, they done everything perfectly with his character. But one thing I'm not sold on is his death, it doesn't feel like he's done with a mere stab when he's the same guy responsible for the regenerators. He said he got a plan after the cabin but they never explained it. It's like a set up for his survival twist. It's more convenient if he got a regen sample in his body that can cure injuries, explains how he managed to walk all the way back to save Leon despite his injury. A morally grey scientist like Luis working on regen sample for medical purpose to make money seems more fitting, he must've been testing it on himself for a while which explains the scars on his face and neck, but it must be a slow regen process that puts him on coma while healing. His survival twist adds more interesting scenarios than his death, because RE story is desperately in need for morally grey characters to spice things up for the main cast, Luis can be a wildcard/jester/anti hero type of character because he's literally the guy who created all the monsters we kill in RE4 and was former researcher of umbrella, killing him in one game seems like wasted potential.
They will explain it more when seperate ways be coming out but have to wait
He blows up with the island...
Welcome to how every RE fan feels when Capcom creates cool characters for every game and never uses them again
Wasn't the scars from using the plaga removal machine since he was once infected himself? I'm confused.
@scribble71891 That obvious scar was on his chest we've seen in the cutscene, but with close up pics there is scars on his face and neck. The plaga removal was from the chest. Also I just checked more canon infos that his umbrella team was responsible of creating Nemesis? It makes it harder to believe he doesn't have a regen sample at this point. His DLC story has big potential to link between RE3 and RE4 events.
Damn I was legit sad when Luis died in the remake. They did so good with him in this game, we had some time to get attached and care about him. RIP

The way that luis died in the original was a lot more brutal than I thought
That’s what I thought as well because Saddler completely impaled him from back to front and threw him on the floor violently, the way Luis died in the remake is more merciful since it was just getting a knife stuck on his back compared to that of a massive sharp tentacle.
A lot more convincing too. A single knife thrown to the back while it can kill you feels way less deadly than a giant hole being ripped through your chest. Would have been better if he was shot tbh.

For someone who never played the original I absolutely loved Luis as a character in the remake and his death was pretty sad
The way he gave his speech what made it so sad
"You were a fine knight, Don Quixote". The original is more brutal but the remake hits harder. The "light one last one up for the homie" scenes always hit hard. In Naruto when Asuma dies and when Lion dies in Fate: Apocrypha.
The 2005 one is so brutal also the “he found out what I was up to”is very well delivered but the remakes is more sad mainly because we spent more time with him
And the speech was amazing
0:06 When you fart but it's solid
Yooo😂😂😂
Goddamit, now that scene will never be the same for me
For the 2005 Original Luis had a far more gruesome and brutal death scene but lacked some of the emotional impact to make the player convey their supposed distraught emotions but in the 2023 Remake they’ve completely re-made his entire character structure by extending his initial role in the entire Game which gave us more time to be emotionally invested with him, so by the time he gets killed we’d actually get sorrowful though Luis died a more humane and less violent way than of the original (getting killed by a knife Is better than getting a giant scorpion stinger pierced through your torso).
Uhh I felt bad when he died in 2005 so your claim is false about the sympathy. His death now was for the dimwit kids who didn't know what was happening in the beginning so they have to push it in your face.

The first one was just “Leon, I got it!” *Immediately dies*
The original was so random I didn't think he actually died. I kept expecting him to pop back up as villain. The remake gave me a real reason to want Krauser dead. Him saving Leon at the end of the fight was great.
I like Luis's actual death scene in the remake, way more touching and heartfelt, but the way he died makes way more sense in the original. Getting a single knife to the back and dying moments later after seeing him get slapped around by a Gigante and be perfectly fine is kind of silly, whereas in the original dude gets practically bisected by a massive tentacle from Saddler. I’m confused why krauser killed Luis. Ada, was working with Luis and krauser to get the sample. That’s how they found out about las plagas. It made no sense to get the sample then give it to saddler when they needed Luis to get the sample from saddler.
There's a scene before Leon meets Luis again where Leon gets illusions of Saddler giving orders to Krauser to bring back the sample because Luis stole it. Since Leon got the parasite in him he saw Saddler giving the order to Krauser. They're connected through the parasite. Krauser's loyalty is for Saddler to gain power, he kidnapped Ashley and wants to kill Leon to gain Saddler's trust and gain power, his loyalty wasn't for Wesker at this point. So he killed Luis to bring the sample back to Saddler. Technically Luis risked his life to help Leon there, he knows they were after him.

@@MrBGP006 yeah they cleaned up Krausers motivations in this, OG krausers motivation was kind of all over the place, he says he is working for wesker but at the same time during the fight in the ruins he mentioned everything is for umbrella sake this then gets even more confusing with darkside chronicles because well he seeks wesker out after watching manuela use the T-veronica virus, he knowing his injuried arm would get him discharged from the military seeks out wesker to continue being a soldier in the remake its much simpler operation javier happened, and the whole thing went tits up. it wasnt just leon and Krauser in this timeline it was a whole unit of commandos. during the operation the commandos completed their primary objective and tried to contact command to get an evac and command pulled the plug, cut off communication and wiped the records, operation Javier never happened according to records this left Leon, Krauser and the rest of the unit in a hot combat zone with their ass in the wind and no evac the unit got torn to pieces, only Krauser and Leon survived and even with that Krauser suffered an injury to his arm (probably got him discharged from the military) Krauser basically has Vergils motivation Become as strong as possible so i never have to see those events again
I'm glad krauser gets more of a expansive role in the remake
Expansive but the same outcome. So in the end: pointless.
@@Amp661 I'll give it you that but it was still cool
@@Amp661 og was better woth chronicles back story
died being a hero in my book that made Luis the very best there was RIP Luis
Dang, Luis really has a stabbable back. The bad guys can't help but stab his back
You definitely hated Saddler more in the original from his speech to you about controlling you and Ashley through the Plagas and sending Ashley back to her father as a monster after getting money from the United States to him killing Luis like he was nothing. In the remake I'm in the castle and Saddler didn't even meet Leon yet if not when he was unconscious...
yes right thank you re4 og is better than remake ok
@@fazelfarrokhi1998 Is there a specific reason you prefer the og other than just being nostalgic for it?
@@RealCesyB dude is just spamming that in every comment, sounds like he is coping for being unable to play the remake
I got a question 😅😅 where did that Tentacle come from that Saddler stabbed Luiz with???
His ass
Dont even think about it.
Under his cloak, use your imagination.
