Been waiting for a Plaid update! Yeah that driver's door gap is way beyond acceptable. We took delivery of our Plaid at about the same time as you and fortunately we lucked out with build quality with a minor exception of the rear hatch gap on one side was a little off, but apparently within Tesla spec. Tesla would not adjust it. I'm surprised Tesla has not addressed the inner tire wear issue with all the negative KZhead press and it being a legitimate safety issue. There is a simple solution of adjustable control arms, but this leaves a risk of warranty issues down the road since Tesla is not kind to any modifications. We decided to buy the winter tire package for $2750 that comes with the 19" wheels and PZero winter tires. Figure these tires will last a few seasons and extend the 21" Michelin tire life. But we live in a colder climate where snow is in the forecast. The white interior definitely gives the Plaid a much more luxurious feel and would choose it for sure. Overall, the Plaid is incredible, IMO.
Love this comment. Thanks for watching and glad you’re enjoying your plaid! I love the wide tires and I love the look but might consider something different in the future. I figured I’d be spending the money one way or another buying this car. Haven’t scheduled yet with Tesla for my panel gaps to be looked at but curious if they will deem it as “within spec”
Tesla wouldn't adjust the gap on the rear hatch in your case because if they did, they'd cause several other gap issues. If you just got a 2024, most or all of them seem to be out of square on the rear quarter panels but about 1/4" longer cross from upper left to lower right vs upper right to lower left.
Wow that drivers door gaps on the front of the door look really bad! Almost looks like it was in a accident even though it wasn’t. You should have rejected delivery and waited for another one!
Install rear camber arm links to fix inner tire wear. Or use the 19" tires instead of the 21".
Yep the 19’s don’t have that problem. The larger tire creates additional camber on top of the already excessive camber in the suspension.
What spacers are you using? 15mm?
I have the plaid and I love the yoke ! A lot better than the regular wheel
If you enjoy breaking your wrists in parking garages, sure. The yoke is just for looks, it might as well be a rake in terms of practicality. I drove one extensively. Don't try to convince me otherwise.
I have a Plaid and I threw that ridiculous piece of junk yoke wheel in the garbage the first week!
Self drive or auto pilot ? Which are you referring ? The rep told me self drive is the function that you can look away from the road .
Check your Toe not just the Camber Tends to be toe out and drags the inner side of the tires as you drive Toe is adjustable from the factory Camber requires camber arms or shims.
Dépend , u can adjust camber by loosing suspension and arm, adjust camber than tight everything
If you make a appointment Tesla will correct those panel gaps
Or they’ll tell you that it’s in-spec which is what happened to me over the last couple of Teslas I’ve owned
They will most likely refuse to
Yoke Yes!!!! it makes the Model S that much Unique, your description of FSD is correct 100%. For Highway driving on long trips, it's great. I only use on long highway trips. In town/urban driving I don't use it because it's more stressful. That gap on the hatch is same on my 2020 Model s and I agree about the alignment for the flagship should be much better
My 2022 has updated steering wheel, taillights, headlights and swivel lcd screen
I agree with you. FSD is more work than when I don’t use FSD
Waiting for the updated model
The tire wear is due to camber changes when suspension changes height. Tire pressure is much higher than normal cars to reduce rolling resistance.
I don't have a Plaid but a 2017 S with only 30K miles. I hardly use autopilot that much either. In heavy traffic, it helps if fatigued and you need a break. But adaptave CC is very nice because I don't have to deal with adjusting the car's speed.
Hello American friends 😊✌️ The toe and camber of every Model S should be adjusted to prevent internal tire wear. thanks for the interesting video. Best regards from Germany
Tesla S are built in US… 🇺🇸 American made… with huge gaps! 💪 In China the controls are much better if you get a Y model. 🤷♂️
Keep the ride level on medium. Tires will last longer
Do you have any squeaks/rattles inside the car?
Yes, it’s something I’ve thought about scheduling an appt for. You?
Just cover the cabin cam with a lil piece of tape, autopilot will work just fine
Really? Thought it yells at you if covered
@@AustinZabackNo actually, my MYLR works just like it used to before the update. But on the other hand I used a small piece of clear tape to blur the camera's view of the driver, so it might only alert if completely blacked out.
Did that plane crash in the back round
A yoke is not what makes a Plaid when the base S also has a yoke available (as a paid option on both now). Happy that the wheel is now the no-cost option.
FSD sucks. I quit using it and taped over the camera. I dont need a car nagging at me.
Still no leds inside… while any model 3 gets them now. Not buying a S until they put leds inside.
you can't afford it anyways😂 cry about the leds
@@jadenwoolcock3711 I can dude… I am actually waiting. Need to sell one car though. And I go for the Plaid, not the normal. But for this price I want the bloody leds
@@jadenwoolcock3711lol ppl crying about LEDS bruh. Get yourself a keyboard
@@jadenwoolcock3711How would you know what he can or can't afford? You op's accountant or something?
That back seat ergonomic design is horrible. It's so hard to get in and out of it without the door touching any car parked next.
The tires wear because of the air suspension. You can add a camber kit to fix it. But yes it sucks
The gaps are killing my ocd😂
me too
Why have auto pilot, but you can't use it. My Hyundai Sonata drives itself, and I can be on my phone! Why the fuck would anyone pay 8k for this?
Don’t get the 21’s guys. The 19’s get better range and don’t wear as fast. Also the panel gap issues are pretty common for a Model S. I think Tesla has to improve their manufacturing processes. Study what Toyota does in that regard and compare it to Tesla. Also my recommendation for seat care is Chemical Guys Leather Care kit.
I don’t have too much of a problem with the yoke but I won’t buy the Plaid with the yoke until they add steer by wire. Without it, it makes no sense and I’ve driven a LR and a Plaid with the yoke.
So the car is pretty mkay in the end
Auto pilot and FSD are 2 different things. I agree auto pilot is useless. I don't understand why people like it so much. But FSD is a totally different story.
There shouldn't be a 3 month learning curve to learning how to use the blinkers. That's just indicative of horrible UI design.
Tesla fixed all my issues on my 2023 Tesla model S with the car no problem gaps, any problems my car a couple Tesla service visits is now perfect. So calm down 😂
Mmm Kay?
Ok Mr. Mackey, settle down now, mmmkay?
SSSSSSNAKE 🐍🐍
lol never heard that one before
You said Tesla model what again? 😂
Buys a 1000 hp 100k car and complains about tires smh
Another George
I love the yoke but not spending the $1000 premium
You keep calling FSD AP. AP comes standard. You have to pay for FSD. All the things you're complaining about with driver alertness happen on AP. The gap issues with the doors are fixable but they're more likely to fix them for free if you complain about them early. They will only fix localized alignment issues which means it's a bit of whack-o-mole with Tesla because they'll often fix one alignment issue only to cause another. For doors, the rear quarter panels are the anchor references. You have to start from the rear doors aligned to the quarter panels, then move to the front doors moving to align the gaps and tilts with the rear doors, and finally the front fenders. Lastly, door strikes for flushness. Took me about 3 hours to do a 4 doors, fenders, and hood. You have alignment issues on all doors, fenders, and your hood some worse than others. The Plaid is not heavier than the Long Range and in fact, it's a few hundred pounds lighter than any previous performance Model S. The car comes standard with 19" wheels which are FASTER, corner better, last 30K+ miles, are more comfortable, more affordable, more pothole damage resistant, much better range, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. There's literally zero advantage to getting the 21" wheels.
"The way Elon designed the tires". 😂😂😂 Dude, Elon didn't design anything. He pays thousands of engineers who know what they are doing, to design stuff. Elon wouldn't know how to design a screw. He's not an engineer. He's an entrepreneur, a salesman.
