1970 Ferrari 512 S Pininfarina Modulo with 5.0 V12 at Villa d'Este 2019
Simply amazing to see another of the crazy Wedge Era concept car moving around Villa d'Este during the 2019 Concorso d'Eleganza. Last year it was the Lancia Stratos Zero that caught my attention but in this 2019 edition there was James Glickenhaus with the 1970 Ferrari Modulo, based on the Ferrari 512 S race car and designed by Paolo Martin of Pininfarina.

That's the shortcut on the Lake Stage, everyone knows that

I used to have a matchbox version as a kid! Awesome to see there's still one alive. Always thought it was just a Bond car. In fact it is even more, beautiful, radical and modern looking than most concept cars almost 50 years later. ... wow. How the hell is that possible?
Magic my friend

Sounds so good? And you’ve been “into” cars for 50 years? It sound terrible

@@MichelLinschoten if you knew anything about cars you'd know that is the beautiful sound of a tuned V12
It sounds like its got stage 4 engine blowby cancer running on thickest viscosity marine oil
Only 1 was ever made. This is a concept car.
Judging from the sound of it, I'd say this car runs on the energy produced by a T-rex fighting a family of raptors.
Nobody really knows how a t Rex sounded like.
I bet it sounds a lot better when its going over a 100
I'm pretty sure this one is running on freshly killed raptors
Looks futuristic, sounds anachronistic
This car is at 100 meters from my home, in a official ferrari repair center where are other 3 ferrari 250... this car have a v12, and the exaust pipe are in the engine bay.
Looks space age but sounds steam age. Never seen this vehicle before so thanks!
It sounds like it's dying.
a 5 liter V12, it's not bad.. the most beautiful car made in my opinion.
It needs a turbine howl or an electric whine to suit the image.
That does not sound healthy, definitely think valves and rings are required and someone is running it way rich at best. If there's twelve cylinders in that, I doubt they are all firing, sounds more like a luggy V8 with no tune or timing done in some time, at all. :)
@@OllamhDrab was my thought too watching and listening to it, running too rich, among other things, it's an old car with old problems, I imagine the owner is afraid to mess with it too much is all I can think of but at some point that doesn't add to the value, all original running poorly isn't helping his cause
That car screams "1970s futurism". :)
@adam nelson I'm guessing you were drunk when you typed this?
adam nelson Personally i absolutely love that style. Im a big fan of 70's sci-fi movies, and of cars/design/styling that looks like this. I shoot my load when i look at pictures of Bertone cars. The reason i would want to own this car is because of what it looks like. What about the 80's Lotus Turbo Esprit or the Lamborghini Countach ? Do you like those cars ?
It's a really great looking car, about as practical as a chocolate fire guard but outstanding as a rolling design show off. You'd have to go XJ220 or Zonda to find other cars as strikingly different from their peers yet still great looking vehicles. Yes it's an extremely dated design but it still looks great, a real visual pleasure

Lmfao!
He meant to do that! It’s called the ‘skid and pic’ . Look it up
Lol yes but he was already trying to crouch down and lost it at the last moment
And some other guy proceeds to go in front of him while he's shooting.
I'd hate to be driving along in this, when that round thing near the gear stick pops up and starts demanding to know the location of the hidden rebel base!
I felt the same way had a very star wars death star thing going on ! agreed
"Oh for God's sake sir, I'm a control panel not a Viper Arakyd droid."

It precedes Blade Runner by more than a decade.

A car that looks like this should be electric
would never expect that kind of engine on that. Interesting. More like total electric looking, but then this roar
That's a really ugly car! It looks like it was built by grade school kids!
The way the windshield and enclosure open forward somewhat similar to a jet cockpit was the most surprising part.
Soundtracked that’s some cool shit I would love a car like that
Really crazy looking car. That would be the ultimate car for "Doug DeMuro" to review, so many quirks. :) 5:52 that spotter in the backgroud. :D
Belgian-Motorsport Yes the spotter a 5:52 really did have a fantastic tumble! 😂 Also you video are great! You and 19Bozzy92 should do a collaboration sometime!
As soon as I saw the interior I needed a Doug DeMuro review.
that spotter found the perfect angle
@@francoisg3500 I love how he acts like it was intentional.😂
I haven't seen any of his clips in a while. Has he yet learned to do some research about the cars he 'reviews'? Or is it the same 'oh look at this crazy thing, isn't it weird?' comments about things that were pretty common in older cars? Don't ask me for details, I have a lousy memory. But impressions last, and that's the impression he gave me.
This is just fascinating to look at, incredible how a car this old still looks futuristic today, amazing 👌🏻😍
The wedgeshape sci-fi era (late 60s-late 70s) contained a lot of weird concept cars.
MC Taipan it did
cant belive this car is almost 50 years old!
It needs a good cruise around a track to clean out the engine
That car has probably not gotten out of first gear in a long time if ever. I dont know how people can baby their stuff like that. I like to enjoy my stuff.
It’s a concept car, was never street legal, and looks like it can barely turn more than a couple degrees. It probably couldn’t even navigate around anything other than a giant nascar-style oval track.
@@TheWallsocket That's no excuse. Never seen so much soot from an exotic...
The guy is probably refurbishing these cars for money not as a hobby. If he's reselling them / renting them to car shows he can make good money if he knows what he's doing, guessing the fat guy is the business owner.
@@TheWallsocket lol. you are right, I thought the front wheel were stationary and rotating in different speed to make a turn. in 5:38 it shows the wheel are turning in angle.
Holy shit Ferrari was wayyyy ahead of their time in 1970.. The Dome Zero looks a lot like this, the engineers must have gotten an idea based off of this.
This is all down to Pininfarina. They took a 512s racing car chassis and built this one prototype

Jesus!! That thing sounds so raw. Hats off to Mr Glickenhaus for making this concept car an actual working machine.
DOUG! GET OVER HERE NOW! this was really cool, ty, im blown away
First saw this car in the playing cards when I was a small kid in the 70's and was instantly awestruck. Now seeing it on video it just completely blew me away. What an awesome concept, still looks futuristic even to this day.
I had a picture of this car on me notebook back in grade school, so this bring out memories 😊👍
Jim Glickenhaus is a mad man, but I love his projects. Amazing that he got this car rolling. I'd love to see more of his cars racing, hopefully his WEC plans work out.
I know a Swiss men, who was involved as a Designer in these time as a member of the Pininfarina team. He also works for the modulo and the Dino 206 and many more!! Legends are still living!! Thanks God, and those people who made legends on wheels!!

All I needed was to see the thumbnail. What a wicked looking car!
What I can't get over is that it has a current New York State Registration and Inspection sticker. The custom plate is no surprise after that. What a life one must have to be shipping a car like that across oceans for international events.
