I'm gonna guess G502, or the Lightspeed version. The ability to add lua scripts and up to 22 assignments per mouse profile (up to 3 saved on the mouse) is overkill
Mouse, what is that? You can't use that in the terminal. 😂

I have the Logitech 502 Hero, and although I mostly use it for gaming, I’m now very happy with my choice in mouse, as I also do a lot of productivity things including programming. The only thing I struggle with is using it to it’s full potential. There’s all these profiles you can make and switch between on the fly or automatically, but I’ve only set up 2 of them - one for desktop, one for CSGO, and even then I’m not using half of the buttons. I guess what I’m saying is that it’s good if you know what you need all the features for and how you’d use them
agree on the mx master 3
Yes, i can confirm this. The g502 hyperscroll wheel allows me to scan through code 10x faster, and also unlock pro moves in photoshop and 3d modelling.
Logitech trackman (rollerball) or vertical mouse for ergo purposes. You can also update responsiveness for most mice through maxing out tracking speeds.

THANK YOU for putting so much focus on the scroll wheels. Seriously a make or break feature of a mouse, and so many of them have awful scroll wheels.

It was refreshing to hear someone talk about the scroll wheel. I have a similar opinion and prefer having travel to scroll easier through code and websites. I never hear about it in other reviews though so maybe most people don't care. My G502 is 5.5 years old and still my daily driver. The rubber under my thumb has worn down to the plastic but I'm still pretty content with it. I just wish it were lighter when I play games like Osu. I love the shape and the extra buttons. The "aim" button can be used as a "G-shift" modifier key which allows you to add a second function to all the other mouse buttons. I'd consider buying a new one as a backup if the newer G502 models weren't 50% more expensive than what I bought if for 5.5 years ago (tech is meant to get cheaper or improve, not stagnate and become more expensive at the same time...). I also hear that a lot of current gaming mouse have double click issues because they all opted for using Omron switches due to brand marketing but that switch require more current than what's being provided in low power wireless mouse.
VERY helpful. Thank you!
Thanks a bunch. I just ordered the G502 and THEN found your video. I couldn't agree more on the points you make about how a mouse should work. Plus I really prefer stuff cabled. This time I think I got it right :D
Also on the G502, the G-shift button (in the LG GHub software) can be used to change to g-shift mode which gives your mouse(and other logitech products) a whole other set of macros, pretty much doubling the number of buttons you have.
The Razer Basilisk Ultimate is my favorite mouse for work and play, basically a superior version of the G502 (which suffers from terrible double click issues given the cheap switches Logitech refuses to update). It has the ergonomics of the 502, with the same charging stand as the Viper Ultimate, and has a plethora of programmable buttons -- also like the 502. Definitely worth the investment. My current work/play setup is the G915 TKL, Razer Basilisk Ultimate, and the Steelseries Arctis Pro (another device that's excellent for gaming and work, since the mic is fantastic and conference calls sound great, along with bluetooth connectivity to my phone for taking calls while remaining connected to my Mac/PC, making it a gem for both tasks).
Great job @TechLead! I typically just try and program around a bad mouse with AutoHotkey. Great to have some idea about which mouse to start with!
The "snipe" button on the G502 can also be remapped. Plus on any G502 mouse, you can click the scroll wheel down, but also side to side (left or right), so that's 9 programmable buttons in total, not including the left and right mouse buttons.
I use the g604, it's a g502 wireless but with the metal scroll wheel and 3 extra buttons on the side. I personally prefer it and it has improved my workflow substantially
I use the MX Master 3 and the G600 depending on the situation. Surprised I didn’t see Logitech’s G600 in this lineup. I love all the various macros you can program. Sure the size of the mouse is a bit of a learning curve, but I rarely have to touch the keyboard.
I have G502, but it doesn’t fit well for hand due to click buttons shape. It restrains hand. I use MX1000 still when working and would like something similar. The scroll wheel is not good after years of use in MX1000 but it’s saved by scroll up/down buttons.
that "flick" is so important
Now that you mention it, I haven't had a good "scroll wheel" in decades. I definitely need to upgrade.
Have been using the MX master 1 since it came out and I can't work without it anymore.

thanks a lot, didn't even think about mouses before this fair review!
Logitech MX Master 3 is the best mouse and i love the fact the charge can hold over a month on normal 8-10 hours daily use. and it only takes about 20 min to fully charge. In addition you can connect to 3 other device and change using the channel selector at the bottom. The only improvement it needs to make is the ability scroll horizontally as easily as the Apple magic mouse. The scroll mechanism needs to be ball shaped to support this.

I often find that my frail arms need the assistance of over-engineered plastic to put in my 8 hours a day, 365 days a week. Thanks TechLead for addressing this issue that no one else is talking about! 😭😭😭
How about ergonomics? It seems like the MX 3 has a different and more ergonomic feeling. What is your though about it? I am heading to buy a mouse, I already have one for my PC which is wired (Steelseries 110 Rival) which is quite nice. Now I am looking for one wireless, for my programming stuff, I've been using the mac's trackpad, which is awesome, but with an external keyboard is not that functional. I was aiming (eheh aiming..mouses..fps games..xD) to buy the MX 3. I don't mind not having a rgb setup, it's nothing that crucial xD. I was trying to find something more comfortable, since I am also programming or searching or documenting most of the time. This video already has 2 years and the mouse is around 70 eur. Is it still worth it?
My favourite mouse for work or gaming is the Razer DeathAdder. I personally don’t care too much about scroll inertia. It is supported (at the moment) in Mac. For my work I now use Logitech Anywhere 2s. It’s smaller than the Mx Master and feels more nimble, it only misses the clever flick scroll.
hi tech lead you expose me to the harsh world, your helping me visualize the world better. im a 14 year old coding enthusiast and watch your videos just wanted to thank you. i feel motivated after watching your vids. keep it up!!
I have a love and hate relationship with the infinite scroll on the MX3. It's very useful for scrolling long lists, but on Windows, the scrolling trail keeps me accidentally zoom on browser windows while I'm moving the mouse around. I had to cancel the Windows option to scroll windows without focusing on them, but that is less than ideal.
i miss a trackball... best ergonomic mouse to long days
Man I really love these kind of videos. This channel gets a lot of hate but one thing is certain, there aren't any others like it.

Can you make a review on which mobile do you recommend for programming? Since a while i have dropped the pc and do all coding work on smart phone, mainly backend development. I would prefer one with a good voice recognition system since typing is kinda slow and old fashioned. Thanks
Techlead : I found the perfect mouse for programming MKBHD : wait ... that's illegal
why
I've been using the free spinning wheel since MX1100 (2008) and it's the number one feature a mouse must have. I found that it's much easier and enjoyable to spin the wheel once for just a split of a second and then stop it right at the target than having to scroll few times, which also obviously takes much longer, uses many times more energy as well as may hurt your ligaments. I think that you didn't stress this behaviour enough and that people who haven't tried the spinning wheel yet may think it's actually more difficult to use and that we are weird. It isn't good just for fast scrolling to top or bottom of the whole document as when one masters the "Aimed Fast Scroll", one achieves an unmatchable productivity hack. MX1100 was a beautiful mouse, I wasn't able to find a viable replacement yet. May it rest in peace.
Great review, I use Logitech G502 for programming/gaming and its amazing !
Trackman mx marble though 🤤
Pro tip: For the MX Master mouse you need a really good/smooth mousepad to counteract the weight, on a plain surface or even a plain mousepad it feels very heavy. I use a razer gaming RBG mouse pad, so yes it's RGB and it's wonderful.
Very helpful. I will probably go for mx anywhere then

"I use my mouse 8 hours a day, 365 days a week" :D that's the real reason hes a millionaire people, take notes!
i knew someone caught that.
6 hours of that was wasted on editing out useless codes.
I have a G903 and recommended it, it excellent freewheel scrolling + wireless. One thing i would like to see is 'smooth scrolling' (like on mobile phones) but almost no mouse come with this.
You are hero man #TechLead love from India
The G5022 is the best of both worlds. It has the unlimited scroll for unlimited scrolling and great for gaming.
11:31 Fucking finally a reviewer pointed this out about the Mx Master 3. The scrolling up is horribly inconsistent on the Master 3. The G502's are using an older version of the hyperspeed scroll from the original Master and the Master 2S which despite sounding clunky and ratchety, is actually very consistent.
I am confused between buying MX Master 2S and G502. Can we program G502 for Mac gestures?
Is this only with the mx master 3? or is this the same as the mx master 2s? I have the mx master 2s right now and I do not have any problem, scroll is very responsive. I am looking for a new mouse and was looking into the mx master 3, and scroll is very important to me.
So much true! All of the other clowns did terrible job reviewing it. Only luring us into buying the MX Master 3. Too heavy with too broken scroll.
I love watching these kind of videos.(*Scrolls angrily with shitty trackpad)

i have a keychron k8 and a $7 mouse its awesome because it is where comfortable mouse but the scrolling is very bad do you have a recommendation for a new wireless mouse. I am thinking of getting a Mx Master but I dont like spending alot on mice.
I bought mi G502 like 3 years ago using my BTC's mined in 2013 ( i'm programmer btw ) , still , somewhere in this years i accidentally poured some beer , and functionality was compromised to the point of need of total disassembly to become functional again , but was not a smooth and no to easy process , maybe using rubber alcohol will be an easy solution at the time ( to clean up the mess without disassembly ) , besides that accident very good product beyond my expectations for a mouse .
I've just been using a Microsoft Compact Optical Mouse for the last decade.
i get pain from smaller mice and even ergo mice, which do you think is best for medium sized (20cm long and 8.5cm wide) finger/palm grip: the g502, model o, or g403?
I use my G Pro Wireless for programming/Work and gaming and I'm happy with it 😉
i like how he joking demeans programmers, frail arms weak fingers etc.
I tried the mx3, how do you live with the missed scrolls it has 10% of the time? I found it infuriating.
I don't have missing scroll actuations, or do you mean you over-/underscroll? You can fix the scrollwheel for discreet instead of continuous actuation
